I just want to say hello to all of you and let you know that I’m stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making BREAKING DAWN. As you’ve probably heard, I’ve been given a very warm welcome by Stephenie and Team Summit – who are super-focused, as you know, on getting these movies right.
I’m pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I’ve read BREAKING DAWN twice, rewatched Catherine’s and Chris’s movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine’s notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz’s companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk – a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic. I realize that this barely qualifies me for “newborn” status in the universe you’ve been living inside for a few years now, but a guy’s gotta start somewhere.
Like many of you, I’ve always been slightly obsessed with vampires, dating back to the prime-time series DARK SHADOWS, which I followed avidly as a kid. But that alone hadn’t been enough to get me interested in making a vampire movie, even though my early screenwriting and directing efforts grew out of a great love for horror movies and thrillers. Since making GODS AND MONSTERS thirteen years ago, however, I’ve been yearning for a return to a story with Gothic overtones.
The wonderful world that Stephenie has created has obviously struck a chord with you, and I don’t think it’s difficult to see why. For me, her characters are simultaneously timeless, yet very modern. Rooted in a beautiful, real landscape with a great sense of place, Bella, Edward, Jacob, and the rest of the Forks/La Push menagerie, experience emotions that are primal, and universal: desire, despair, jealousy – and it all comes to fruition in BREAKING DAWN. This is a final chapter in the best sense; not just wide in scope and scale, but emotionally charged and intense throughout.
I’m a huge admirer of the already-iconic Kristen, Robert, and Taylor, and wanted to be the one to work with them as they face the challenges of bringing your beloved characters to the end of their journeys. Really, what could be more fun than that?
Please feel free to ask questions in the comments section below, and I’ll do my best to answer them. I hope that this will be the first of many occasions I’ll get to check in with you as we set to work bringing BREAKING DAWN to the screen. I am excited and grateful to have all of you alongside me for my TWILIGHT journey.
All best,

Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon has written a lovely note to the Twilight fandom, and posted it via the official Twilight Facebook page:
A Note to Fans From Bill Condon
Greetings Twihards, Twifans, Twilight Moms, Team Edward, Team Jacob and Team Switzerland,
I just want to say hello to all of you and let you know that I'm stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making BREAKING DAWN. As you've probably heard, I've been given a very warm welcome by Stephenie and Team Summit - who are super-focused, as you know, on getting these movies right.
I'm pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I've read BREAKING DAWN twice, rewatched Catherine's and Chris's movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine's notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz's companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk - a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic. 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' cast reveals Cullen Coven expectations
'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
One of the things that Eclipse book fans agree upon is the fact that the Cullen family plays a more important role in the events of this chapter in the story, so to hear their perceptions of the heightened importance is quite encouraging.
The Los Angeles Times did a series of interviews with each (except Robert Pattinson) of the Cullen character actors, and they each pointed to the defining characteristics Twilight fans will see from them in the film.
For instance, Peter Facinelli said that "Carlisle," for the first time in the series would be "flying blind" as his family's special powers are weakened by this story's villain; meanwhile, Ashley Greene promised fans are "going to see the dark, dangerous side of Alice."
You can check out the full interview here.

LA Times Interview with the 'Cullens'
(photo: Kirk McKoy / Los Angeles Times)
The LA Times took some time to sit with Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed, and Elizabeth Reaser to discuss what the fans should expect from the Cullen clan in Twilight Saga: Eclipse. They also got to talk about reasons behind the infamous battle scene.
"The whole family is in a vulnerable position because of the love we have for Bella," said Elizabeth Reaser, who plays matriarch Esme Cullen. "If she's not OK, we're not OK."
It also brings us to the past, where we were introduced to the Cullens and their special talents. We even got a glimpse at their professional baseball playing, but in Eclipse delves deeper into what really makes the clan something special.
"This time around, you get to see their true vampire-ness," said Peter Facinelli, who plays head vampire Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the series based on the bestselling books by Stephenie Meyer.
So what we can expect from this family of vampires in this third installment?
Facinelli:
"For me, as Carlisle, it's an exciting portion of the series. Carlisle is very compassionate and he has a lot of killing to do in this movie. I joke, after he kills the bad guys, he says he's sorry in his head. And, you know, he's calm and level-headed. He's the rock of the family. He usually has a lot of information to draw from because Alice can see into the future and Edward can read minds. In this third movie, he's not getting that information. Neither one of his sources are working, so he's kind of flying blind."
Reaser:
"Esme is still a vampire. She still wants to kill people all day long. It was interesting to get in touch with the vampire side of her in ways that haven't really been explored. Her family is in danger and that brings out the mama bear in her.
Ashley Greene (as Alice Cullen
): "Yeah, she's delicate and prissy at times, but Alice gets a little edgier with each installment. And with these vampires messing with her family and the people she loves, you're going to see a bit of her toughness. It's a reminder to the audience that even though we restrain ourselves at times, we're still vampires and we're dangerous. You're going to see the dark, dangerous side of Alice."
Kellan Lutz
(as Emmett Cullen): "You're going to see a smile on Emmett's face from start to finish. He just loves to fight. And there's a lot of fighting. He sort of plays bigger in this one than the others."
Jackson Rathbone
(as Jasper Hale): "You'll get to see a little bit of the root of what makes Jasper so withdrawn and quiet in the Cullen family. Fans will get some of Jasper's back story in
‘Eclipse.' I got to wear the whole Civil War gear and everything. There's a bit of the softer and darker side of Jasper in this film."
Nikki Reed
(as Rosalie Hale): "You see a reason for her attitude. I think fans will feel for her. There was a bit of that in ‘New Moon.' Fans got to see a bit of her sensitive side. Her sane side. Her logical side. And her desire to help her family. This time around, she is much more of a participant. She's a survivor. This is her family. So if protecting Bella means protecting her family, she's going to do it."
Robert Pattinson
(as Edward Cullen): Snagging a phone interview with the brooding dreamboat — who was overseas shooting his latest film, "Bel Ami" — proved difficult. So what can we expect from the lovesick Edward? He promises to love Bella "every moment of forever," as the trailer reveals. He's still hesitant about her becoming a vampire. He's determined to protect her from Victoria. And he's vying with Jacob for her affections. Oh, the life of an antique teenage vampire.

Eclipse Reshoots Day 2
It’s a bit on the boring side since everything was inside a studio as Mandy reports.
Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner started at 5am and wrapped at just after 9pm. Kristen Stewart left first, Taylor shortly after. It was a long day and it didn’t go as scheduled. It is not a studio they used before for either New Moon or Eclipse. Though Robert Pattinson was on set today he did not film as scheduled(photo of rob leaving the bar studio). Instead he was seen in the late afternoon at a bar on Commercial drive with good friend Sam Bradley having a bite to eat and a few beers.”
Check out the rest of the story on Mandy’s blog.
“There isn’t much to report on today. It was all in studio. As I’ve mentioned n the past studio is great for the cast and crew because there is no public access. The downside of this for fans is no photos, information, etc.

Cullen Family Interview
LA Times has an interview with Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene and Elizabeth Reaser.
Check it all out here.
Here is an excerpt:
The family that slays together, stays together.
At least that’s the case for the Cullen brood.
In “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” which hits theaters June 30, Seattle is ravaged by a series of killings caused by an army of newborn vampires controlled by revenge-seeking bloodsucker Victoria. To combat the threat against Bella ( Kristen Stewart) in this third installment of the franchise, the Cullens must band together and join forces with their sworn enemies, the wolf pack.
“The whole family is in a vulnerable position because of the love we have for Bella,” said Elizabeth Reaser, who plays matriarch Esme Cullen. “If she’s not OK, we’re not OK.”
In the past, we’ve seen the clan hit baseballs so hard that they can play only in a thunder storm, to block out the sound. And we’ve watched the buttoned-up human imposters welcome Bella into their home as the human girlfriend of one of their own — the handsome Edward.
“This time around, you get to see their true vampire-ness,” said Peter Facinelli, who plays head vampire Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the series based on the bestselling books by Stephenie Meyer.

'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson voted one of 'TIME 100 Most Influential'
Robert Pattinson - AP Photo
The official results are set to be revealed today, April 29th, but for now poll results are available here.
Pattinson places, according to current results, just below Mir Hossein Mousavi, Han Han, Yu-Na Kim, Rain, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Susan Boyle, Liu Xiaobo, Sachin Tendulkar, Zahra Rahnavard, Conan O'Brien, Roger Federer, and Shah Rukh Khan.
Here's what TIME had to say about Pattinson:
The Twilight saga has been a boon for the British heartthrob, who plays sparkly, sexy vampire Edward Cullen in the hit franchise. The third installment, Eclipse, comes out this summer, ensuring that Pattinson's face — however pale — will be omnipresent.
In case the names listed above aren't indication enough, this is a pretty major feat. Others that Pattinson ranks above on TIME's poll results include President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, James Cameron, Nancy Pelosi, Meryl Streep, Steve Jobs, former President Bill Clinton, Clint Eastwood, George Clooney and many, many others. Thanks: Cullen Boys Anonymous

Robert Pattinson: Time Magazine Influential 100
Robert Pattinson is listed in Time Magazine’s annual 100 People Who Most Influence our world. The write-up to go along with the nomination was penned by none other than Chris Weitz!
“I have to be careful about what I write here because it will be tweeted the moment TIME hits the stands. And if I say something bad about Rob Pattinson, I’m dead meat. That’s the devotion the Twilight films inspire. It’s certainly not how he planned it. And though I am continually impressed by the aplomb with which he handles the hysteria, I occasionally think he would take it all back if given the chance. Because essentially, Rob, 23, is a reserved, bookish sort of specimen, a guy who’d rather spend the night at the corner table in the pub with friends — a bit of a weirdo, frankly, in the best sense.”

LA Times: What Bill Condon Brings to Twilight
The LA Times has a piece examening why Bill Condon is a good choice for Breaking Dawn.
“In making the choice, Summit, which has gone for a different type of director for each film in the franchise, clearly wanted someone with more Oscar chops (Condon’s won one and been nominated for a second). That’s both because the “Breaking Dawn” material is a little more complicated than the previous books and because with the franchise already an unstoppable juggernaut, they can afford to take a risk, at least a small one.
So what kind of teen-vampire fable will the man responsible for “Dreamgirls,” “Gods & Monsters” and “Kinsey” make? None of his previous directing credits are obvious analogues to this movie (though the initial frenzy over him as a candidate was a little baffling; good filmmakers reinvent themselves all the time. And it’s nothing compared to Rob Marshall, another man known for musicals, taking on “Pirates of the Caribbean 4″).”

New Moon Director Writes Article about Robert Pattinson
Ever wonder what’s really behind those mysterious eyes of Robert Pattinson? Pattinson, who plays hunky vampire Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga has half of the world expressing their undying love for him and the Hollywood craziness follows Rob wherever he goes. The awesome Chris Weitz who directed The Twilight Saga: New Moon, expressed himself in this self-written Time Magazine article, where he gives us an in-depth look into the real RPatz.
I have to be careful about what I write here because it will be tweeted the moment TIME hits the stands. And if I say something bad about Rob Pattinson, I’m dead meat. So how to write about someone who seems to answer Freud’s rhetorical question, What do women want? Perhaps it’s just worth pointing out that it’d be fun to have a beer with him even if he weren’t Edward Cullen. That we haven’t seen a tenth of what he can do onscreen. And that important things, beyond the veil of Hollywood, occupy his time too — music, conversation, ideas, a sense of the absurd. Which, maybe, explains why he never gets to my e-mails. I love you, Rob! Call me!

Bill Condon: Highlights From A Diverse Career
So now that Bill Condon has been announced as the director of Breaking Dawn, everyone wants to know just who is he? Given the previous three directors here’s where he stacks up just on statistics:
He’s the same age as Catherine Hardwicke, but has directed the same number of films as Catherine, Chris Weitz, and David Slade combined.
Like Chris Weitz, he is both a writer and a director. Also like Chris, he was nominated for an Oscar based on his writing. However, unlike Chris, he won an Oscar for his directing of Gods and Monsters.
- Hollywood’s best and brightest (and also most difficult) have worked with Bill Condon such as Oscar nominees and winners: Ian McKellan, Liam Neeson, Brendon Fraiser, Laura Liney, Tim Hutton, John Lithgow, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Fox, Jennifer Hudson.
- Like David Slade he’s done the horror thing by directing one of the Clive Barker Candyman series.
- Like Chris Weitz he’s handled CGI, but not to the same degree in FX2.
-Like Chris Weitz and Catherine Hardwicke, he respects adaptation from the originating source material, and doesn’t want to lose site of the popular work that everyone fell in love with. (See the interview with Charlie Rose below.)
-Like Catherine he thrives on character driven/relationships like Dreamgirls, Gods and Monsters, and Kinsey (Check out Bill talking about Dreamgirls in the video below.)
Now here’s the next item which people should be asking: who do you think he’ll want to be in the Breaking Dawn Cast who he’s worked with before? Hollywood, aside from talent, is all about connections, reputation, and previous experience. There are a lot of new vampires in Breaking Dawn, and we fully expect a lot of them to be cut or combined like the way Anna Kendrick’s Jessica is a combination of the book’s Jessica and Lauren. On the other hand, some are uncuttable due to basic plot. What leaps to mind right away is the Denali Coven in particular Irina, because without Irina going to the Volturi there’s no back end of the story. So…who appears to be twenty-thirty something, is an UBER Twilight fan, fits the age range, and has worked with Bill Condon before. There’s one name that instantly jumps up. The first person to come up with the answer that we are thinking of in our comments gets the autographed photo of their choice from our collection.
Eclipse Reshoots Day1
About two weeks ago news broke that there would be reshoots of some material for Eclipse. We pointed out, as did Peter Facinelli at the Arlington, VA Official Twilight Convention, that this wasn’t unusual they had several reshoots for Twilight late in the game. For Twilight, the reshoots involved the flashback of Peter, Nikki, and Kellan in the period dress and the Quileutes in the forest. Why wasn’t Liz Reaser in those shots you may ask? Wasn’t Esme hungry that day? The answer is that Liz was shooting a TV series (now defunct) and couldn’t make it.
Hit Fix also established that the specific kind of re-shoots were what is known in the industry as “pick-up shots”. Peter further explained what that meant in Arlington. He said (I’m paraphrasing because I didn’t have it recorded) that sometimes you do these because they realize later there’s crew equipment visible in the shot, a continuity error, the lighting wasn’t quite right, or they want to add in something else to bridge the material based on the edit. Peter further joked, “I don’t have to do re-shoots, I got all my stuff right this time.” He then reiterated that they do these things all the time.
So what exactly did they “pick-up”? There was lots of Internet angst with people thinking it was the meadow proposal scene since the meadow area location was secured, but Summit had said that it wasn’t that scene. Well it looks like one of the locals, Mandy, may have gotten to the bottom of it:
“So they indeed used the “meadow” set today with both Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart. It wasn’t Robert Pattinson on set, so it wasn’t the “meadow proposal scene” or anything.[Lexicon note: Rob as verified by multiple media sources didn't arrive in Vancouver airport for hours after this shoot began]
I think there was confusion about just what was filmed at the meadow…. MANY things!!
That particular area has vast surroundings suitable for various shots involving a field, meadow, forest, water, mountains etc.”
So given that, as Mandy reports, the land is basic, vast woodland, and it involved Jacob and Bella…well it could be just about any Jake and Bella scene on the reservation, your guess is as good as ours.Check out Mandy’s entire report here.
What it means that Stephenie Meyer will serve as 'producer' on 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn'
Stephenie Meyer - AP Photo
A lot of you have reached out with inquiries about what it means that she'll serve as a producer, so here's the basic gist of what a producer is, does, and how it relates to Stephenie Meyer and Breaking Dawn.
For starters, a producer, by generic definition is "the person on a movie set who makes sure everyone shows up and knows what to do when—and who knows beforehand what’s being served for lunch."
Prior Twilight Saga film producers, whose names you might recognize, include Wyck Godfrey and Karen Rosenfelt (who'll return to that position for Breaking Dawn, according to the announcement) as well as Greg Mooradian. We've also had "executive producers" (definition: "often owns the rights to a book or story idea or secures at least 25 percent of the film's budget . . . rarely have creative or technical involvement and are often caught up with several projects at once") like Marty Bowen, Michele Imperato Stabile, Guy Oseary, and Mark Morgan; "co-producers" (definition: "works under the producer and often helps with casting, financing, or postproduction") such as Jamie Marshall and Bill Bannerman; "associate producers" ("a largely honorary title") like Patrick Thomas Smith and David Roker; and "consulting producers" (definition: "generally a high-level writer who is contributing . . . but is not one of the principal forces").
You might remember when Robert Pattinson assumed a role on the film Remember Me as executive producer and his words as to why that happened: "I just didn’t want it to be messed around with . . . I didn’t want it to be compromised in any way . . . anything I could do to help to maintain the film . . ."

Victoria wins Most Anticipated Villian Poll
Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria in Eclipse won with 31% of the votes in Fandango’s poll of the Most Anticipated Summer Movie Villians.
Here is what they said:
On the villain side of things…I mean, c’mon – is there anyone we despise more than Bryce Dallas Howard’s Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse? This is Howard’s first go at the role (the character was previously played by Rachelle Lefevre in both New Moon and Twilight), and so fans will need to warm up (or down) to her. That said, even with Howard taking over the role for the first time, fans are still more than pumped to see her run all sorts of naughty deeds with the character.

I have to be careful about what I write here because it will be tweeted the moment TIME hits the stands. And if I say something bad about Rob Pattinson, I’m dead meat. That’s the devotion the Twilight films inspire. It’s certainly not how he planned it. And though I am continually impressed by the aplomb with which he handles the hysteria, I occasionally think he would take it all back if given the chance. Because essentially, Rob, 23, is a reserved, bookish sort of specimen, a guy who’d rather spend the night at the corner table in the pub with friends — a bit of a weirdo, frankly, in the best sense.

New Eclipse Still – Bella’s Engagement Ring
What kind of a ring does a vampire share with his lady love if he wants to spend eternity with her? We have a peek at the ring that Edward (Robert Pattinson) gives Bella (Kristen Stewart) in ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.’
The ring, described in Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling books as being Victorian in style, features an oval face set with diamonds.
In the photo, you can also see the charm bracelet described in Eclipse, the novel. Bella wears the bracelet with two charms — a crystal heart given to her by Edward, and a small wooden wolf that was a gift from Jacob (Taylor Lautner).
