New editor added for 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse'

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
A new editor, Entertainment Weekly announced, has been added to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's staff list.
"Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the uber-successful Twilight series, confirmed this morning that it has replaced Eclipse editor Art Jones with Nancy Richardson, the editor of Catherine Hardwicke’s original Twilight film," EW reports.
Summit still said that the material put together by David Slade is "very good" and that there is no "blame" being placed upon Art Jones, EW continues, but that the film "needed a stronger edit."
Presumably, with the trailer coming sometime next week and the film due in just a few short months, there is some pressure to get the approved cut together here in the near future.
You might recall that in late January, David Slade notified his Twitter followers that the film was going through its early "director's cut" stage. Shortly thereafter, though, he used the same medium to state that he was going back to editing to add "more EDWARD" to the film.

The Final Poster For ‘The Runaways’

tewart

Fandango has the exclusive on the final poster for The Runaways.
Rock and Rollers & K-Stew fans! Below is the exclusive debut of the final poster for The Runaways, featuring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning as rock and roll icons Joan Jett and Cherie Currie during their formative years in ’70s rock band The Runaways. We’ve actually seen this image before as a previously released still, but, what the heck, it definitely holds up as a poster image of two young, tough and no-bull rocker girls. The film’s already been well received at this year’s Sundance Film Fest…everyone else will be able to see it in limited release on March 19th, and in wide release on April 9th. What do you think? Game to see K-Stew flex her acting chops in a role that’s pretty far removed from Twilight?

New Moon' director Chris Weitz says he'll vote for 'Up in the Air' star Anna Kendrick for an Oscar

Anna Kendrick - AP Photo
Just days away from the 82nd Annual Academy Awards ceremony, Up In The Air star Anna Kendrick can count on at least one sure vote for her for "Best Supporting Actress": her former The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz.
Weitz told People Magazine that he'd vote for her "because she's my homie."
Weitz also punned about the staunch sophistication of the Academy, saying:
"If only the Academy were composed of teenage girls, I might be looking at a Best Picture nom," he joked. "It's a scandal that there are not more teenage girls in the Academy."
New Moon wasn't altogether overlooked by the Academy, though. "Possibility" by Lykke Li was among the initial round selections for "Best Original Song" but it was not upon the final list of nominees.
The Oscars take place on March 7th and more information on the ceremony can be found here.

Chris Weitz would've removed at least one scene from 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon'

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.
If there was one scene in The Twilight Saga: New Moon that you could pinpoint as the source for New Moon movie discussions-a-plenty, would it be the moment when "Alice" shares her vision of the future with "Aro" to save "Bella?"
Well, according to BuzzSugar (available at Twilight Lexicon or Twilighters Anonymous), New Moon director Chris Weitz said that the amount of criticism the scene has received has made it so that, if he could turn back time, he'd remove it altogether.
When you go back and watch it again, are there things you’d like to change if you could?
I would like to never have shot Rob and Kristen running through the forest and Kristen’s just turned into a vampire. Because everybody always laughs and it makes me feel terrible. [Laughs] I would have shot it a different way so it wouldn’t get that response. But otherwise, I’m very happy with things.”

Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host' hobo skate gear now available at Hot Topic

Stephenie Meyer's website has announced that official gear for The Host is now available at Hot Topic (though online only) rather than just through Hobo Skate Company.
The products available in The Host's line include quite a few t-shirts and "decks" like the one seen here.
As you know, The Host is currently in the process of being made for film, and it has been the source of a great deal of discussion about who should be cast for the varying roles in the picture.
It is slated to be directed and written by Andrew Niccol who wrote and directed Gattaca as well as Lord Of War.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' director David Slade to tackle 'The Shadow' next

'The Shadow'
As preparation of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse comes to a close, David Slade (director of the film)'s list of potential future projects should certainly prove interesting.
According to Collider, Slade might be scheduled to helm the project thanks to the "handing off the director’s chair" of the movie by Sam Raimi.
"Previously set up at Sony Pictures, the reboot will go back to the comic book and radio serial roots of the character," reports Dark Horizons.
According to the Latino Review, "'The Shadow' debuted in 1931 on a CBS radio show which aimed to boost the magazine circulation of sponsor Street & Smith. The character was actually the moniker for the announcer, and listeners began demanding stories based on the name."
MovieWeb reports that "Sam Raimi is still going to produce this project."

Examiner Bio Chris Weitz to produce 'American Pie 4'?

Chris Weitz - AP Photo
While it's still not a sure thing that The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz is out of the running for the director spot of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, it appears that Chris Weitz is getting even busier as each day passes.
You already know that Weitz is scheduled to direct The Gardener sometime this year.
According to Fused Film,
A few weeks ago we posted that Universal was keen on making an American Pie 4 nd bring back some of the original characters from the series. What better way to do that than in a “Reunion” . . . Chris Weitz, who co-directed the original film with brother Paul, spoke with MovieWeb about all of this “I know that Universal wants to do it. We want to be involved in it. Because of the affection we hold for the story and the characters. We want to get as many former cast members back as possible. Its funny, but look at someone like John Cho. He had a very small part in all three films. Now he is a big deal.”
While Weitz did help his brother Paul Weitz with directing American Pie, the first of the three films in the series, his main position served was as a producer or executive producer for the films (note that American Pie 2 was directed by J.B. Rogers and American Wedding was directed by Jesse Dylan).
In addition to American Pie 4, Chris Weitz is also slated to produce several other films, including The Game.

'Eclipse' director David Slade puts his art up for sale

Fubear Studios - via ShopYolk
About a month ago, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade announced that his company, Fubear Studios, had put some of its unique prints on the market.
The prints available (one pictured here) are of "Scarfdog," and the Los Angeles Times did a piece yesterday on the products, reporting:
Though they appear to be ideal for kids' rooms, there is an adult story behind these cheery characters. "Scarfdog loves Duck," Slade explains in a statement on the back of his signed, limited-edition 8.5-by-11-inch prints. "When Duck passes, she looks straight ahead, not at him. Scarfdog can only dream of a day sometime when his unrequited love is met."
Slade, you probably remember, has been the source of quite a few unique updates. Throughout the filiming and post-production process for Eclipse, Slade issued photographs of his daily journeys via Twitter, and he and Fubear Studios are responsible for the infamous "Meat Dog" video.

HBO has a new fantasy series in the works with a cast that includes Sean Bean, Jennifer Ehle and others.
“It’s official, HBO has given the go ahead for the upcoming series Game of Thrones based on the book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R.R. Martin. Talk of the pilot being picked up has been floating around the rumor mill for about a year now but things didn’t become official until March 2nd…HBO has requested a total of ten episodes, including the existing pilot. Filming is said to resume this June, locations include Northern Ireland and Morocco. Although the number of actual seasons is dependant on ratings, it’s said each season will cover the storyline of at least one book.”

Jamie Campbell Bower ("Caius" in The Twilight Saga: New Moon) has joined the cast of another television series.
After having done The Prisoner, a television mini-series addendum to the 1967 classic, Bower will soon be joining a new HBO show called Game Of Thrones.
According to UGO, the series is "based on the book series 'A Song of Ice and Fire' by George R.R. Martin."
The Irish Film & Television Network what has been given the green light by HBO is "a pilot and nine episodes" and it "is expected to be the biggest television series ever filmed in Europe." Filming for Game Of Thrones "will commence in June in Northern Ireland."
Not only is the fact that Game Of Thrones is filming in Northern Ireland a good thing for U.K. native Jamie Campbell Bower (at least where convenience is concerned), but it is also bringing hope to the local community that others will follow suit.
Reports IFTN:
Northern Ireland Screen’s Head of Marketing, Moyra C. Lock tells IFTN that the news of the series’ green-light was met with enormous joy. “It’s very exciting,” she says, “this series could easily do for Northern Ireland what ‘The Lord of the Rings’ did for New Zealand.”
The Los Angeles Times states that filming for the pilot took place "in Northern Ireland and other European and North African locations in late 2009, 'Game of Thrones' will resume production on nine additional episodes in the summer . . . it probably will premiere in 2011."

Robert Pattinson and 'Remember Me' filmmakers' three-part podcast announced

Robert Pattinson - AP Photo
Robert Pattinson and Remember Me filmmakers Allen Coulter (director), Nick Osborne (producer) and Will Fetters (writer) sat down to discuss, at length, a number of issues associated with making the project, and that conversation is going to be made available to the public via a three-part podcast roll out.
The three parts included are to be split as follows:
  • Part one will be a discussion about the genesis of the film;
  • Part two will present a reflection on the character of "Tyler" (Pattinson's in the film); and
  • Part three will involve talk about Robert Pattinson's chemistry with co-stars Emilie de Ravin ("Ally") and Ruby Jerins ("Caroline") on-screen.
The series is called the "Robert Pattinson & Filmmaker Chat," and it is available on iTunes.
For Remember Me, Pattinson has done a great deal of press, and some insight into the opinions of these filmmakers has been made available via Twitter, but it will surely still be quite an interesting discussion!

Twilight' director Catherine Hardwicke to take on 'Dot War'

Catherine Hardwicke - AP Photo
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has been busying herself with an immense roster of projects. According to Cinema Blend, she "recently dropped the film If I Stay to take on The Girl With the Red Riding Hood" and is now considering taking on Dot War.
Reports Cinema Blend, "It’s an action adventure film expected to be a cross between War Games and Real Genius. The focus of Laura Harrington’s script is a videogame programmer who receives government training to take down terrorists via virtual technology. The screenplay has been collecting dust for quite some time so Paramount is seeking someone to do a rewrite. If the final product is up to Hardwicke’s standards, she’ll likely board the project. "
Other projects that Hardwicke is associated with include Hamlet, Maximum Ride and The Monkey Wrench Gang.

Chris Weitz Wishes He Could Cut The Frolicking Vampire Scene From ‘New Moon’

BuzzSugar has an interview with New Moon director Chris Weitz.  With the New Moon DVD out in store March 20th, Chris discusses his favorite scene in New Moon, Rob & Kristen’s relationship and what he wished ended up on the cutting room floor.
There are lots of different editions of the New Moon DVD. Which bonus features are you particularly excited about? I’m excited that my voice will finally be heard! For me, the fun thing was doing the commentary with Peter Lambert, my editor, because it kind of re-created the atmosphere in the cutting room. Peter’s a really funny guy, and we were able to delve into not only the behind-the-scenes moments, but to explain why certain things were shot or cut together in certain ways. So that, for me, was the most fun. But otherwise, I’m very happy with things.
You must get lots of questions abut Rob and Kristen. Do you laugh it off or are you totally sick of hearing about it? I’m somewhat clueless — when you’re the director, you’re kind of like the school principal. Nobody really tells you anything. You really have no idea what’s going on. I’m the last person who would know about this kinda stuff. I’m sure you could get more from reading the paper.
What was your favorite scene to shoot in New Moon? I’m very fond of the memories that a lot of the scenes invoke in me. My favorite scene is probably somewhere between the very last scene, and the cliffhanger that it’s left on, and the scenes in Italy. Just the experience shooting those scenes was so magnificent. We were in this beautiful hillside town in Tuscany, and going home to fresh-made pasta every night, and surrounded by thousands of fans of the series while we were shooting it. I know I’ll never experience anything like that ever again.

What’s your take on the rumors that Breaking Dawn will likely be two movies, possibly in 3D?
3D seems to be the new thing that everything has to be. I think the good thing about 3D is that it can lend tremendous depth to a picture, and really make it extraordinarily lush, visually. And also that it gets people to go out to the theater. Film directors want people to see things in the theater, on the big screen, at least the first time. So that’s a good thing. As for the book being broken up into two films, I think it’s a good idea. There’s so much material in the final book that I think it’s warranted.
How would you direct Breaking Dawn? Very carefully, because I think that you want to deliver the fans a faithful version of the book that they love. Yes, there’s a lot of extraordinary goings-on. So it’ll have to be done carefully.
How do you think the movie franchise has been affected by using different directors? I think it’s good for it, because I think there’s a tremendous amount of coherence thanks to a very strong cast, who care about getting their characters right. And I think that the fans’ interested will be un-dimmed, and I think it’s interesting to see the different visual approaches, different stylistic versions, different choices that different filmmakers take.
Are you excited to see Breaking Dawn, or will you inevitably be thinking about how you would have done it differently? I’m really excited to see it. I’m very excited to see it. I’m sure he’s done a really great job. I think that he’s, amongst other things, a much better action director than I am. So I’m really keen to see the action sequences. I think that there are a lot of things that I would have been very daunted by the prospect of shooting, which he will have taken in stride. I’m excited to see it whenever I can.
I think that last questions was suppose to be for Eclipse instead of Breaking Dawn.
Oh my Chris Weitz.  How I love thee, but yeah the frolicking vampire scene?   Everyone laughed in the theaters (including me) when that scene was shown.  I imagined Bella hunting a deer or something.
I’m still mad that Rob, Kristen or Taylor is not doing the commentary with you.  I don’t care how funny Peter Lambert is!

Kellan says True Blood vamps would kick Twilight vamps butt

Hollywood Life caught up with Kellan Lutz at Cosmopolitan magazine’s “Fun Fearless Male Awards”.
Paul Wesley from The Vampire Diaries and Stephen Moyer from True Blood were also in attendance. The three were asked who would win in the fight?
Below is what Kellan said:

Twilight’s Kellan Lutz agreed that True Blood would carry the deadliest stake: “I think True Blood would kick all our asses. Eric on True Blood) would kick all our asses. He’s a bad ass on the show.” But, he continued, “Really, who knows. We all have different strengths and powers.” For the Cullen clan, “you have to rip us apart. That can be tough if you [don't have] super human strength to do that.”

I am a big fan of all three of these vampire groups.
Wish I would have been there. That many gorgeous vamp boys in one place.

Michael Sheen ‘will likely return’ for ‘Breaking Dawn’

With The Twilight Saga:Eclipse in post production and soon ready for theaters, now comes not only the pressing questions of when and if The Twilight Saga:Breaking Dawn will be made, but also, who will be returning?
Apparently, despite the fact that his resume spans two decades, his daughter Lily has only just become a fan of his work. Prior to New Moon, Sheen had done Frost/Nixon, The Queen, The Damned United, the Underworld series, and more, but Lily didn’t quite fit the demographic of viewership for those projects.
“Having spent years and years doing films in which she had no interest in whatsoever, either because she couldn’t watch them because they’re too scary, or she didn’t want to watch them because they’re too boring,” Sheen says, “now to be able to do films that are slam-bang in the middle of what she’s interested in, it’s fantastic for me as a dad.”
It seems that this growing tradition will continue, too, if Sheen reprises his role in Breaking Dawn. As you know, only a portion of the “Volturi” is present in Eclipse, and “Aro” is not one of those who journey to Forks, Washington in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Some worried that with the absence of certain characters in Eclipse some of the actors might move on and not return for Breaking Dawn. Of course, the same was true for Sarah Clarke (“Renee”) from Twilight who was not present in New Moon but did indeed come back for Eclipse.
The Toronto Sun, however, might have just dispelled any concern that Sheen has found better and brighter by reporting the following: “Although his character is absent from this June’s next Twilight movie, Eclipse — “I can sit back and watch all the others have to go through that again,” he says, smiling — he will likely return in the fourth, Breaking Dawn.”
Well duh.  Aro is only the core of the Volturi, so I would hope it would be Michael Sheen and only him…You already know what you’re going to do…Aro ;)

Robert Pattinson Opens Up About ‘There Will Be Blood’ & ‘Breaking Dawn’

Robert Pattinson was interviewed by HitFix during the Remember Me press junket last weekend.  Rob answered questions from roles he passed up to Breaking Dawn into two films.
The actor recently sat down with HitFix to discuss the new role and why he took it up, even after he signed on to become the face of Edward Cullen in the popular “Twilight” movie series. “There’s only so many things you can do with a script, [but] this seemed like it hadn’t been made before,” he says.
The 23-year-old English actor also reveals some of his regrets not auditioning for roles in “There Will Be Blood” (and “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford). You can read more specifics on that here.
Additionally, Pattinson opened up on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” and rumors that it will get made into two separate films. Watch the video to find out just how his opinion differs from co-star Kristen Stewart’s on the subject

Summit’s Publicist Will Not Allow Robert Pattinson to Answer ‘Kristen’ Questions

Rob was being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest. When asked about the Rob and Kristen rumors (aka Robsten) Summit’s Publicist was quite rude to Ryan, and made Rob leave the interview.
There is a new video via the Associated Press from the Remember Me premiere. Exact same situation. The AP asks Rob if he would comment on Kristen being at the premiere. Summit’s Publicist once again rudely jumped into the interview, and moved him a long.
For all we know — those are her orders. Whether they are from Rob directly, or Summit, that I do not know. I do believe that there are some things that Rob and Kristen want to keep private. I honestly do not think it is any of our business if they are dating. For all we know Rob could have told Summit’s Publicist to act that way.
