MTV: ‘Eclipse’ Soundtrack, Who Will Make the Final Cut?

 In a new article over at MTV.com, they discuss some potential possibilities of artists/bands that could  be on the Eclipse soundtrack, or have made statements saying they would like to -

Adam Lambert had hoped that his song “Suburban Decay” could find a home on the soundtrack. He told MTV News that it could be the perfect tune to further elaborate the love story between Bella and Jacob. “It’s a great song and I hope to perform it someday, and I think it will find a home on a soundtrack or something … maybe ‘Twilight,’ ” he said. “It just didn’t quite fit [in my album]. It’s very theatrical. … It’s very campy, and it was just a bit too campy for the album as a big picture.”
Like Lambert, Brooklyn, New York, band Care Bears on Fire would love to get their song on the soundtrack. “Oh my God! It would sound awesome,” bandmate Izzy said. “[It would sound] vampire-y, duh — or werewolf-y, depending. I’d kind of like to be vampire. I feel like that’s more our sound.”
And while these artists are hoping they’ll have their shot, Muse have already hinted that after appearances on the first twol films’ soundtracks, they may take up space on the third installment as well. “It’s great to have the feeling of being a new band again in so many people’s eyes or minds … we might even do something for the third one,” drummer Dominic Howard said.
“['Eclipse' director David Slade is] kind of a friend of ours ’cause he directed about three or four of our videos for the second album, and he’s a really great video director,” Howard further explained. “I know he did that really great kind of sick horror [film '30 Days of Night'] which was a bit of a vampire/zombie vibe, wasn’t it? So I think he’s a great director, and he’s quite a funny character as well. So, yeah, we might do something for him as well.”
Paramore appeared on the first soundtrack and passed up the chance to be on the second, but they wouldn’t rule out taking a stab at writing a song for “Eclipse.” “We’ll see what happens in the future,” frontwoman Hayley Williams said. “I don’t know — if it feels genuine. If we write a song, and I feel like it goes with it, I wouldn’t turn it down, but I wouldn’t force it.”

The Eclipse soundtrack goes on sale June 8th!

Chaske Spencer & Gil Birmingham Work Together In ‘Shouting Secrets’

Gil Birmingham and Chaske Spencer are to work together in Korinna Sehringer film “Shouting Secrets.”

Twilight actor Gil Birmingham has been cast opposite fellow Twilight cast member Chaske Spencer and General Hospital’s Tyler Christopher in the Korinna Sehringer film “Shouting Secrets.”
Gil will play Cal, the father of Wesley (played by Chaske Spencer). Wesley is a successful young writer in Los Angeles who is called back to his Native American upbringing after ten years in order to visit his sick mother. Tyler will play Tushka, a half-breed Indian who, when his mother falls ill, is forced to look at his failure to breach the confines of reservation life.
Gil has appeared in a number of films with fellow actor and friend Chaske Spencer, and playing Chaske’s father is nothing new. In “Skins,” Gil played the role of Sonny Yellow Lodge, the abusive alcoholic father of Rudy, played by Chaske.
“Shouting Secrets” is a film from the creative team, Joke Film Productions, consisting of Producer / Director, Korinna Sehringer (“Survivor”) and Producer Ueli Josef Bollag. Filming will begin next month.
With Chaske, Tyler and Gil heading the cast list, the film “Shouting Secrets” is certain to be on my must-see movie list.

Move over Taylor Lautner , there’s a new ‘ It Boy’ in town.
Aussie hottie Xavier Samuel, who’s starring in the ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ has been labelled one of Hollywood’s hottest new men.
In an upcoming issue of VMAN, the actor, who judged the OPTUS ONE80PROJECT last week, reveals he’s still getting used to his new found fame.
Talking about the drawbacks of being a rising actor he says, “Living out of a suitcase and your comfort zone, it’s a bit of a challenge.”
And the hunk, who starred in the award-winning Oz horror flick ‘The Loved Ones’ says he can’t wait to work on his home turf again.
“I want to get back to Australia and do a film there. It’s important to remember your roots.”
But despite his success, the 26-year-old admits he almost followed a different career path altogether.
When asked if he’d always wanted to be on the big screen he said,
“Not at all, really. I mean, the usual response is, you know, “I’ve been acting since I was three, and I used to perform plays for my Mom and Dad.” But I never really did that sort of stuff.
“I kind of followed a friend of mine into auditioning for drama schools and sort of landed in a drama course as a result of that. And it wasn’t kind of ’til halfway through that first year that I thought, “Actually, this is something that is a craft, and it’s not just a hobby.”

New Moon,' 'Eclipse,' and 'Twilight' cast nominated for National Movie Awards

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.

This year's National Movie Awards nomination list is very Twilight-friendly as two of the Twilight saga films and a few of the series' castmates are nominated in several categories.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon is nominated in the "Best Fantasy Film" category alongside Alice In Wonderland, Clash Of The Titans, and Avatar, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is nominated for "Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer" alongside Knight And Day, Sex And The City 2, Shrek Forever After, Step Up 3D, The A-Team, The Karate Kid, and Toy Story 3.
Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner are also nominated for a National Movie Award in the category of "Performance of the Year." They are up against Gemma Arteron (Clash Of The Titans), Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp (Alice In Wonderland), Jim Carrey (A Christmas Carol), John Cusack (2012), Leonardo DiCaprio (Shutter Island), Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe, and Emma Watson (Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince), Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Brad Pitt (Inglorious Basterds), and Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee & The Big Bang).
Pretty stiff competition, but the awards are up for public voting here, and the winner announcements will be aired live on ITV1 on May 26th at 8:00 p.m.

'Twilight' prom scene picked as one of 'The 17 Best Prom Scenes of All Time'

Over the past year or so, Twilight scenes have made their way onto "best of" lists across the board.
Most notable is the Twilight car crash scene which was chosen as the fourth best movie moment of the last decade as well as one of the top most romantic movie moments.
Just recently, Twilight's prom scene (with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart) was chosen as one of Seventeen Magazine's "17 Best Prom Scenes of All Time."
About the luscious sequence, Seventeen says:

Bella isn't like other girls — she falls in love with Edward, a vegetarian vampire, and she could care less about going to prom. She has other things to worry about, like falling prey to the evil vampires. But Edward won’t let her miss this human rite of passage, so he takes her to prom, where they dance the night away in a beautiful gazebo.

Also making Seventeen's cut are scenes from Prom Night, High School Musical 3, Never Been Kissed, Saved By The Bell, 10 Things I Hate About You, Dawson's Creek, Drive Me Crazy, Romy And Michele's High School Reunion, Footloose, Carrie, Mean Girls, Pretty In Pink, and others. Casting to begin soon for Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host' movie

Just a couple of weeks ago, we learned that progress on bringing Stephenie Meyer's The Host to the big screen was being made when Deadline Hollywood reported that writer and director Andrew Niccol was "working on the third draft of a screenplay" while collaborating with Stephenie Meyer herself.
Then, Deadline suggested that filming for the movie could begin as early as next year, and yesterday the same site reported that the movie "will soon start casting."
You might remember that back when the film adaptation for this book was announced, Stephenie Meyer announced that she was interested in seeing who The Host fans would choose for their favorite characters, and since then we had a huge discussion about which actors and actresses fans had in mind for the various roles.
In that discussion, it became clear that fans of the book had a wealth of ideas as to how the film should be cast, and it'll certainly be interesting to see who is selected for each part.

Dakota Fanning and 'Eclipse' featured in new 'Twilight' ALA poster

The American Library Association, ironically the same organization that listed the Twilight series on its "most challenged books" list for this year, has released a new Twilight "READ" poster - this time featuring Dakota Fanning ("Jane") and a portion of the logo artwork from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
The ALA has done "READ" posters with the Twilight series cast for the past couple of years, having issued one for Twilight with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as "Edward and Bella" and one for The Twilight Saga: New Moon with Taylor Lautner as "Jacob Black."
Additionally, Dakota Fanning appeared in an ALA "READ" poster a few years back for Charlotte's Web.

The posters are intended to encourage readership among fans of the respective series encapsulated by them, and it seems that whether "challenged" or not, the ALA regards the Twilight series as a viable tool for their campaign.

It's almost that time again . . . The Twilight Saga: Eclipse clothing merchandise is well on its way, according to WWD Fashion.
Chances are, you remember quite well when Nordstrom began its The Twilight Saga: New Moon clothing line last fall. Well, it seems the company is picking up where it left off for Eclipse and has plans to release its new Twilight line on May 15th.

Beginning May 15, Nordstrom will again sell exclusive lace trim tops, miniskirts, striped and floral dresses, skinny jeans, cardigans and plaid jackets, in the style of protagonists Bella and Alice, and priced from $30 to $58, on nordstrom.com/eclipse. Beginning June 4, the collection will be sold at Nordstrom stores as well as online.

Additionally, the site reports, Nordstrom will be re-introducing the Twilight Takeover Parties it had last year with New Moon, and it'll also be a vendor for Eclipse character cutouts (the one pictured right is from the New Moon line) and Twilight Lip Venom.
Nordstrom's New Moon page is still up with merchandise from that line if you're interested.

Nordstrom previously sold both Twilight and New Moon inspired clothing, and now they are ready to begin selling Eclipse inspired clothing starting on May 15th.

“Eclipse,” the third of the “Twilight” saga films, gets released June 30, so why not put some fresh blood into the fashion inspired by the movies’ main characters? Beginning May 15, Nordstrom will again sell exclusive lace trim tops, miniskirts, striped and floral dresses, skinny jeans, cardigans and plaid jackets, in the style of protagonists Bella and Alice, and priced from $30 to $58, on nordstrom.com/eclipse. Beginning June 4, the collection will be sold at Nordstrom stores as well as online. This is Nordstrom’s second collaboration with Summit Entertainment and vendor Awake Inc. on a “Twilight” collection, following last fall’s tie-in to “New Moon,” the second film in the series. We can all pretty much agree that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will be one of this summer's biggest films, but do you think it will be number one?
Well, MySpace's recent Trailer Park Chart seems to indicate so. In their "Top 5 Hot Movies of Summer 2010" feature, MySpace predicted the top five biggest films of the summer and placed The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in the number one spot.
MySpace cited user comments, saying "This movie is our number one because, judging by your comments, YOU are going to make it the biggest hit of the summer."
The site then went on to say, "This is the 3rd movie in the franchise. The first one grossed $408.7 million, the second one grossed $709.7 million, so it’s only going up. Question is: will it pass the $1 billion worldwide?"
An intriguing question, indeed.
A few months ago, we talked about a suggestion by one publication that Eclipse would not fare as well as predecessor The Twilight Saga: New Moon, but the consensus was then, and is likely still now, that Eclipse would surpass Twilight and New Moon.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner Invited To Attend The National Movie Awards!

We previously reported that Twilight Saga stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner have been nominated for the National Movie Awards in the UK. New Moon and Eclipse were both nominated as well, for a total of 5 nominations for the Saga.
Showbiz 411 is now reporting that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner have been invited to attend the awards show, which is held on May 26th.

Unfortunately the likelihood of Rob being able to attend the awards is very slim. He will be filming his new movie Water For Elephants around that time . No confirmation yet as to who will, or will not be attending.

Melissa Rosenberg To Address Her Alma Mater at Graduation

According to the press release from Bennington College:
“Bennington is pleased to announce that screenwriter, producer, and alumna Melissa Rosenberg ‘86 will address this year’s graduating class at the College’s 75th commencement dinner on Friday, June 4, at 7:00 pm on Commons Lawn.
Best known for her screen adaptations of the bestselling novels Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse, Rosenberg was also a writer and executive producer on the Showtime series Dexter, for which she won a Peabody Award and was nominated for two Emmy Awards and three Writers Guild Awards. An advocate for women in film, Rosenberg is a co-founder and executive board member of the League of Hollywood Women Writers and a former chair of the Writers Guild of America Diversity Committee.
Rosenberg studied drama and dance at Bennington College before obtaining an MFA in film and television producing from the University of Southern California’s Peter Stark Producing Program.
Her screenwriting credits include the dance film Step Up and the television shows Party of Five, Boston Public, The Outer Limits, The Agency, and The OC.  She served on the Writers Guild of America Board of Directors from 2002 through 2006.
Named in memory of one of Bennington’s most dedicated alumnae, the Candace DeVries Olesen ‘50 Lectureship for Distinguished Alumni was established to bring prominent Bennington alumni back to campus to engage with students and the community at large. Melissa Rosenberg is this year’s Olesen Lecturer.”

Gil Birmingham announced last night on Twitter that he is now part of Chaske’s Spencer’s next movie called Shouting Secrets. According to the press release from Gil’s reps:

Those of you who are up on Twilight actor history know that Gil and Chaske have worked together before outside of the Twilight Saga in the movie Skins where they also played father and son.
