Anna and Dakota included in list of Hollywood’s 10 Rising Style Stars
Anna Kendrick and Dakota Fanning were included in Harpers Bazaar list of Hollywood’s 10 Rising Style Stars.
See who else made the list here.
Below is what they had to say:
Dakota Fanning
If the name Dakota Fanning conjures up images of a wide-eyed child star with blond braids and Mary Janes, it’s time to think again. After years of children’s fare, 16-year old Fanning recently starred as punk rocker Cherie Currie in The Runaways, a biopic of rock star-proportions with cover girl Kristen Stewart playing Joan Jett. Fanning has channeled her new mature role on the red carpet with lots of black, like this stunning Valentino lace mini (paired with soaring burgundy heels) and the chic black blazer-and-skinny pants combo she wore at Sundance. Savvy style is matched by smart career moves: Fanning’s next film is none other than the next film in the Twilight series, Eclipse.
Anna Kendrick
She may count herself among Hollywood’s “popular kids” as a Twilight cast member, but Kendrick broke away from the pack to shine alongside older and more famous co-stars in Up in the Air. The 24-year-old’s star turn garnered Golden Globe, Oscar, and SAG Award nominations, which meant plenty of chances to ogle her sartorial choices. Kendrick plays up her tiny waist in form-fitting looks and experiments with every color of the rainbow (like this brilliant violet Alberta Ferretti at the SAGs). And this year isn’t just about award shows: Kendrick has already begun shooting a new movie called I’m With Cancer with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and she’ll reprise her role as Jessica in the upcoming Twilight films. When it comes to her style and career, things for Kendrick are looking up.

Alex Meraz Talks About Eclipse and David Slade
Here is Alex Meraz giving a superb interview at the Clash of the Titans premiere earlier. He talks in detail about Eclipse and David Slade…. I don’t know what Mrs Meraz is saying about him putting his foot in his mouth I thought this interview was awesome!!
The full transcript of the interview is after the break…
Rebecca Murray from About.com Hollywood Movies:
What brings you to Clash of the Titans?Alex Meraz: “I want to see Clash of the Titans in 3-D, Sam Worthington – awesome actor.”
Are you into 3-D?
Alex Meraz: “You know what? I don’t know. After I saw Alice in Wonderland I kind of was, yeah. So I think it’s going to be pretty epic, seeing it in 3-D.”
Why don’t they do Twilight: Eclipse in 3-D?
Alex Meraz: “I don’t know. I don’t know. They might. I wouldn’t hold out on it. I think what’s cool about 3-D is it gives a new reason for people to come to the theaters and watch it. Because other than that, most people just want to stay home and watch on the big screens. But this is something different, you know, something you can only do here. And it’s kind of a throwback to like the days of theater. You get to see it live. I’m just sad I missed This Is It – the Michael Jackson one. I could have had Michael Jackson dancing on my lap in 3-D.”
Tell me about filming Eclipse. What was that like?
Alex Meraz: “It was really cold. I mean, raining again.”
It’s always raining on you guys.
Alex Meraz: “Always raining, shirtless…always, again. It was fun. We survived it. I think the bond between everyone grew a lot more. I hung out with Kristen [Stewart] more. You know, Rob [Pattinson's] just really cool and down-to-earth. We hung out a lot more with just everyone. I think it felt more safe; it felt more like a family so we had a good time. It was a little bit bizarre outside of set with a lot more people coming from overseas, like from Japan, from Russia…”
Fans coming from overseas?
Alex Meraz: “Fans coming from all over the world just to spot us at a bar, getting dinner. It was kind of weird, but it was still a really fun experience.”
When you’re just out getting a coffee at Starbucks, are people coming up to you all the time now?
Alex Meraz: “Not here. I think here people are looking for J-Lo or Brad Pitt. I don’t think they really care about me here, but in Vancouver it’s different. I’ve heard that in Vancouver when they start production of any of the Twilight films, that the economy goes up. And just tons of tourism just goes up. It’s kind of crazy. I mean, we changed the economy there for Vancouver.”
How was David Slade compared to Chris Weitz?
Alex Meraz: “David Slade, I think he’s more of a…he’s very technical guy, a very technical guy. I think he almost threatens of almost grabbing the camera himself and filming, because he’s just…he always had a camera around his chest. He’s taking pictures of everyone in really awkward close-ups. He’ll get the lens right here and you’re like trying not to look at him. But, he was fun. He was a cool guy. He had a different view of what he wanted to do, which was just fun for us as actors, just to play with something different. But he definitely stayed true to what Eclipse the book is, so I think fans are going to be real excited with what they see.”
It sounds like it would be tough, though. You guys know your characters, and now you have a new guy coming in there to tell you what to do. That’s got to be a little weird.
Alex Meraz: “You know, it feels like I feel more from him, not for us. I think for him, he’s kind of like a father having to adopt children, you know? Because there was a certain amount of cast that he handpicked to play, and then there was us. He kind of really trusted that we knew our characters, we knew what we were doing so with that said he kind of let us do our thing. But you know he’s the director so if he didn’t like what we did, he’s like, ‘No, that wasn’t right. Let’s try it like this.’ It was cool, though. It was fun.”
Chris gave you guys all books. David didn’t do anything like that, right?
Alex Meraz: “David didn’t do anything like that. No, I think David he felt more like a filmmaker where Chris was more of a director, you know? David Slade was like a filmmaker. He’s so worried about every component, with like special effects, what the camera’s doing, what the lighting’s doing. He has lots of hats, you know? He’s not just kicking back looking at what the actors are doing. So that was fun for me to see, because I love filmmaking.”
It would be an education.
Alex Meraz: “It totally was. He’s so smart, so well-versed.”
Have they told you when they’re going to start shooting Breaking Dawn?
Alex Meraz: “No. There’s speculation of it might not even shoot in Vancouver. I’m hearing all kinds of crazy things.”
Why would they not shoot in Vancouver?
Alex Meraz: “I have no clue. I go online and I Google it. That’s what I saw on the message boards so…”
Do you pay attention to all that stuff?
Alex Meraz: “No, my wife does.”
Do you really?
Kim Meraz: “Guilty. I hone in on what his news is supposed to be about.”
Are there sometimes you wish you hadn’t read that?
Kim Meraz: “When it comes to you? Yeah, he’s known for putting his foot in his mouth.”
Alex Meraz: “I’m pretty flexible. My mouth…”
Do you want them to make it into two movies?
Alex Meraz: “Sure, why not? It’s another job, you know what I mean? No, I think it has to with respect to what the book is. It’s one book, but they’re broken up into two sections, right? So there’s so much, I think having it in one film wouldn’t do it justice. I think two movies would be the best. Hopefully they do that. It’d be better. And why not let it live on longer, you know?”
And they’re saying that Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola, all these Academy Award-nominated directors are thrown out there [to direct Eclipse].
Alex Meraz: “Bring it. Bring it!”
You’re ready for a new guy to come in or a new girl?
Alex Meraz: “I’m a puppet, just do whatever you want.”
Is there anything you did in New Moon that now, playing the character again, you wish you would have taken in a different direction? Or are you satisfied with the way that you played him in the first place?
Alex Meraz: “I mean, I’ve done a couple little indie films here and there, but you know seeing myself on the big screen like that…no, I wish I would have done a lot of different things.”
Really?
Alex Meraz: “Yeah. But it was such a small screen presence anyways, I wasn’t really that involved. It wasn’t like the film was about me, so…”
But you know that it goes on and on, and gets bigger.
Alex Meraz: “Yeah, it does. I was totally happy with everyone else’s performances. But me, I’m like, ‘Oh god, I could have done something way different.’ I was definitely proud of everyone else’s performances. But, we’ll see. Maybe I’ll get better in the next one.”
Lack of Twilight game costing 'millions'
Hardly any big-budget movie goes by these days without an accompanying video game release -- but the absence of a game based on Stephanie Meyer's Twilight property is causing publishers to miss out on millions, according to British trade paper MCV.
"Given how hot a property it is, Twilight could easily present a seven-figure exploitation opportunity," analyst Nick Gibson told the publication, "especially if publishers look at taking it beyond retail gaming and considers network gaming."
Gibson goes on to suggest such a game would perform well with the broader audiences of the Nintendo's Wii and DS machines, and would be unlikely to be targeted at gamers with Xbox 360s or PS3s.
"The brand’s appeal could actually extend significantly beyond the expected teen girl market and into the 20- to 30-year-old female market, which has a very substantial crossover into gaming," he said.
So why have we not seen any serious attempt to bring Twilight's vampires-and-werewolves world to consoles? It could simply be that the franchise owners haven't realized what a big money-spinner it could be, Gibson told MCV.
"It may well be that the rights holders aren’t aware of the potential benefits as they haven’t explored the games market before,” he said. "It’s not unheard of – although it is increasingly unusual in this day and age."
Movie-based games often score poorly with critics, but they're a reliable hit with consumers. All the same, Twilight isn't the only recent hot property to have missed out on a video game release: you'd have thought a game based on Oscar-winning Batman flick The Dark Knight would have been an obvious move, but it was not to be. Although publisher EA was working on such a title, it was canceled in 2008; a Newsweek article put the cost of the missed opportunity at over $100 million.

Charlie Bewley made up his 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' and 'Eclipse' character's backstory
Charlie Bewley - AP Photo
The character was an important participant in the events of New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn, but readers don't really get to know a whole lot about the character in the written Saga.
Bewley, however, has a remedy for that: his own back story creation for the character.
In an interview Bewley did with SELF Magazine recently, he explained his idea of a Demetri history.
Demetri lived near Mt. Vesuvius before it erupted--when it did, it killed his family, but he was so fast, he was able to outrun the lava. He ended up in the foothills, where he was enslaved. But he kept running away from his masters, and ended up in Rome, where he became a gladiator. He had no fighting skills, instead, he just ran away from his opponents. Eventually he was blind-sided by an arrow and he went down. Then Volturi leader Aro came in, recognized his skills, and turned him into a vampire--he's been serving the vampire guard ever since.
You can read the rest and see a short video snippet of Bewley here.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' star Jodelle Ferland talks about 'The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner'
'The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner' - Hatchette Books
Unfortunately, Jodelle Ferland (who portrays "Bree Tanner" in the film)'s recent interview with Urban Rush didn't reveal those sort of details precisely, but she did talk about how the book affected her relationship with the set of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
"I was allowed to read it because obviously I was playing Bree Tanner, so they wanted me to have sort of you know background for me to be able to play her better. So, I was allowed to read the story, but I actually had to go to set to read it. I couldn’t have a copy . . . I had to sit in a trailer with somebody there with me at all times," she said.
Ferland also talked about how the photograph of herself with the burnt ashes from the Bree Tanner novella came to be.
"After I read the story, we were supposed to destroy, get rid of it. But since we were filming on location, we didn’t have a shredder or anything . . . we could just burn it . . . It was really fun. We sent it to Stephenie.”
Ferland went on to talk about how even after she was cast for the picture she was not allowed to reveal the name of the character she was slated to portray, even despite the fact that most fans had already put two and two together about that piece of information.
Finally, Ferland discussed the possibility that the Bree Tanner story could become its own film, saying “That would be pretty amazing. I don’t know exactly what their plans are."

Twilight' series star Justin Chon gets interviewed by Dexter the Pomeranian
Justin Chon in 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.
He revealed that while he wasn't sure whether "a lot" of him would make the cut for the film, he was sure fans would get to see a least a little bit of Eric Yorkie in the film.
Aside from being slightly informational, the interview really shows Chon's sense of humor as he plays along with the interviewer (Dexter the Pomeranian)'s very dog-centric line of questioning.

New photos of Kristen Stewart in 'The Runaways' revealed, distribution plans explained
Kristen Stewart in 'The Runaways' - Apparition
Fans have endured a bit of bad news about the film as the movie's wide release anticipated for April 9th has been a bit slowed.
Larry Richman at ProNetworks has a good explanation of the theatrical distribution situation for The Runaways.
Here's a portion of what Richman has to say:
The Runaways opened in 244 theaters. Not a wide distribution, to be sure -- most people consider 600+ to be wide -- but certainly more than many limited releases. Instead of expanding the following Friday, it dropped to 237 theaters in its second week. In its third week (the one which just began) it dropped again to 84. By any measure this is not an expansion in number of theaters. The reported plan (after a couple of changes) was to have it open in limited distribution on March 19 and expand wide on April 9. At this writing, the estimated number of theaters being reported at both Box Office Mojo (BOM) and indieWIRE for April 9 is an increase from 84 to 200. Certainly not the wide expansion that had been announced.
What's going on? Taking into account everything discussed above, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out why a wide distribution for this film may have been scaled back or canceled altogether. Based on the reported number, the wide expansion for April 9 is obviously not happening. Clearly, if the 200 theater count number for April 9 is true that's a fact. Some say it's just been delayed and will take place at a later date. Certainly if there is an expansion to 1000 theaters on April 16, or 23, or anytime down the line, it's just happening on a delayed timetable. The answer seems to hinge, in part, on the veracity of the number being reported at BOM and indieWIRE.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' star Nikki Reed suggests 'Breaking Dawn' will film in Vancouver
Nikki Reed in 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
At the Yotam Solomon’s Fashion Event this weekend, Young Hollywood caught up with New Moon and Eclipse star Nikki Reed ("Rosalie Hale" in the series) and asked her a few questions about her style choices for the evening.
Reed also talked about her current interests, which include traveling and learning the Greek and Spanish languages.
About The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and what fans can expect to see from her character, Reed explained that the film "really explore[s] my character's back story . . . so there's a lot of stuff from the early 1900's, the 1930's."
When speaking of the Twilight saga cast ensemble and how they're gearing up for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Reed stated that they are "all sort of like a family. You know, we started this thing together, and we're going to finish together . . . We love each other, we see one another when we're not shooting. So, we're looking forward to going back to Vancouver to make another one."
While Nikki Reed might not have known for sure whether the filming location for Breaking Dawn would be Vancouver or Portland, it seems that she thinks it'll be Vancouver.

Nathan Lane spoofs 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' trailer on Letterman
'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
In this instance, it's Nathan Lane (actor in films like The Producers, The Birdcage, and The Lion King) spoofing the first theatrical trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Lane went onto Late Show With David Letterman and brought this video clip from Eclipse. Only, he added a little something of his own performance as "the vampire kids' cranky next-door neighbor."
About his performance, Lane joked that "they liked it so much that I've been asked to do the next six Twilight films . . . it's a pivotal but small role."
In the clip, Lane interrupts the infamous meadow sequence from the picture by saying, "hey you Transylvanian freaks, get . . . off my petunias!"

Read whole article here.So here’s the question, given that Twilight is undeniably a predominantly female driven enterprise, is there a strong enough female gamer market considering that the industry given, current market trends and research, is male dominated?
Also given the vast ways in which the Twilight was marketed for New Moon, everything from make-up to Burger King sliders, would a video game have been a welcome item or one more forgettable piece of a marketing blitz?
And in case you are wondering what happened to student videogame developer Brandon, here is his website.
