ON HOW PETER GOT THE ROLE OF DR. CULLEN IN TWILIGHT:
P: I got a phone call from my agency and they said “Do you want to be in a vampire movie?” and I said “No.” I was thinking like bats and caves and some kind of like B-horror, slasher movie. They said “No. It’s based on this book, Twilight. It’s got an underground following. You should read it, and Catherine Harwicke is directing it.” So I said “OK. I’ll give it a read. I love Catherine Hardwicke.” And then I read it and I just fell in love with it. It was kind of a throw back for me to the vampire tales- to the origins of the vampire. It reminded me of this black and white, film noir, beautiful love story with this vampire backdrop and I liked that so I said I would be a part of it.
A: And they told you who you were going to play when they gave you the script?
P: Yeah, they said… the dad and my first thought was I’m too young to have an eighteen year old kid and they said “No. He is twenty-three and he is three hundred and fifty years old at the same time and I said “OK. I can do that maybe. I can play three hundred and fifty.”
ON PETER PLAYING A MATURE 350 YEAR OLD VAMPIRE:
A: You look very, when I say old that’s not what I mean, you look…
J: Alexis!
A: Not now! In the movie.
J: Well in the movie he is old. He just told you he is three hundred and fifty years old, but he never ages. He is very pale because he is a vampire, but if he is caught in the sunlight, he twinkles.
P: It’s hard to look good dead.
A: No, I don’t mean that. I mean that you look very mature like you look like the father like its very apparent.
P: Well, I also played him very mature which is kind of one hundred and eighty degrees from the character I play on Nurse Jackie which is very immature. So I brought, hopefully, a lot of maturity to the character which is what you’re seeing and not seeing me as an old vampire geezer guy.
ON WHAT PETER’S CHILDREN THINK ABOUT HIS ROLE IN TWILIGHT:
P: My children love the movies. I have three little girls- thirteen, seven and three. The three year old doesn’t quite get it yet- she thinks I’m on Skype so she is always trying to talk to the TV. My thirteen year old loves the books and my seven year old hasn’t read them yet but loves the movies. The thirteen year old kind of rolls her eyes that I’m Carlisle because anything a dad does is embarrassing at thirteen so..
ON WHETHER PETER IS TEAM EDWARD OR TEAM JACOB:
J: Here’s what people really want to know. Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?
P: I like Team Edward I guess because that’s my family.
ON WIFE JENNIE GARTH AND LIVING IN A HOUSE FULL OF GIRLS:
J: For people who don’t know, your wife is Jennie Garth who was so great on 90210.
A: So you’re in a house full of girls?
P: I have three daughters and two female dogs and we have a nanny that is female, an assistant that’s female and a female pig.
More Shirtless Taylor Lautner in ‘Stretch Armstrong’

Screenwriter Nick Stoller says the “Twilight” stud will not even be given a shirt when he plays the action hero part based on the famously ripped — and shirtless — Hasbro toy.
“Wardrobe is actually not going to supply him with a shirt,” Stoller jokes with PopcornBiz. “There’s not going to be a shirt option.”
As a bonus, Stoller even says that Lautner will be even more ripped in the movie thanks to the magic of special effects.
“Most of the visual effects money is going into adding even more abs,” he laughs. “It’s actually going to be a little gross.”
Okay, perhaps slight exaggerations there. But you get the idea that we’ll see plenty of Lautner shirtless in the movie due to shoot in the spring for a 2012 release.
Jackson Rathbone Hearts Breaking Dawn Director Bill Condon, Wants to be a Director, Going Back to Louisiana Roots for Filming
Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper Hale of the Cullen Clan in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn movies, has given an exclusive interview to The Hollywood Gossip in which he reveals his excitement about the upcoming collaborations with director Bill Condon on Breaking Dawn 1 & 2–
I’ve had such amazing directors and now we have an Academy Award winner directing the last two installments. It’s lovely because I get to learn something from each director. Their style and the way they run sets. One day when I pick up a script and start directing it myself, I’ll have a lot more to learn from.
Jackson also notes he’s excited to head to Louisiana to film Breaking Dawn, where he has roots–
Louisiana is my home state. I’m from Texas to a certain degree, but my mother and my father were both born and raised in Louisiana. I get to see family, so that means real Louisiana home cooking, and there’s a very important aspect that we’re bringing a lot of work into Louisiana at a very difficult time for the state.Be sure to check out the rest of the interview over at TheHollywoodGossip!
'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' hits $300 million in domestic sales
Finally, the day has come where The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has hit $300 million on the domestic front, per Gossip Cop. While the site notes that Summit Entertainment has not yet confirmed those figures, and Box Office Mojo does not show the same information yet, GC reports that "The film has now earned more than $300 million in North America" becoming "the fourth release to cross the $300M threshold in 2010, joining Toy Story 3, Alice in Wonderland and Iron Man 2."
Eclipse was re-released to more than 1,000 theaters last weekend for a birthday celebration event for "Bella Swan," the series' main character.
It had already surpassed predecessor The Twilight Saga: New Moon in domestic sales (though its opening week trailed just behind New Moon) back in August of this year, but the $300 million milestone was, until today, always just over the horizon for Eclipse.
Eclipse pulled in over $120 million in just three days, and it set the record for widest release for number of theaters and enjoyed the widest Wednesday release ever. It also took New Moon's record for biggest midnight opening.
