Stephenie Meyer Designed Bella’s Engagement Ring!
Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer oversaw the development of Bella’s Engagement ring from Eclipse , and ultimately did the final sketch of the ring and had final say, Instyle reports -
Last we saw Edward and Bella at the end of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, our favorite brooding vampire had just popped the question to his mortal lady love. But the antique engagement ring that writer Stephenie Meyer describes as a delicate piece with an oval face “set with slanting rows of glittering round stones” doesn’t appear until The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, so we talked to the prop team to get all the details. To bring Meyer’s vision to life, prop master Grant Swain started by researching engagement rings from the Victorian era, called in several samples and enlisted four different jewelers to create prototypes of the bauble. But Meyer wasn’t satisfied with any of the options, so she drew a rough sketch herself and Swain sent it to Portland-based jeweler Rick Thurber, who’d created the Cullen family crest jewelry worn by Edward and his clan. Thurber mocked up a computerized 3-D drawing of his vision and sent it to Swain and Meyer for approval. Once he’d been given the go-ahead, Thurber used the illustration to laser cut a wax model, cast the band and setting and set the face with delicate pave diamonds (cubic zirconians were preferred but there wasn’t enough time to order them!). The ring was then rushed from Portland to the Vancouver set of Eclipse, arriving just hours before filming began on the pivotal scene. Talk about a ring with history!

Fearnet Exclusive Interview With Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg On Eclipse
Fearnet.com recently spoke to The Twilight Saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg about Eclipse.
[source: Fearnet.com."News flash: The same writer who gave Dexter its shocking season finale is also the one responsible for the swoons you’ll hear coming from theaters on June 30, the day that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse opens across the globe. That’s right — serial killers and sparkly vampires both live in the mind of Melissa Rosenberg, who’s scripted all three Twilight films to date (and is currently writing the two-part Breaking Dawn films to close out the franchise).
Rosenberg worked closely with novel author Stephenie Meyer to adapt the third book, Eclipse, in which Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) finds herself torn between Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) as a vicious army of vampires led by Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) comes to kill her. With the threat of Victoria and her protégé, Riley (Xavier Samuel) looming overhead, plus horrific flashbacks to Jasper and Rosalie’s origins and a number of head-ripping fight sequences, Eclipse is by far the darkest film in the saga thus far.
I caught up with Rosenberg to discuss her work on Eclipse and the impact that critics, fans, and Stephenie Meyer herself had on the ways the film differs from the book. She also shared her thoughts on where to split Breaking Dawn into two films, how she intends to stay true to the novel’s gory details, and — oh yes — I made sure to champion the grassroots Twi-hard campaign to see lots and lots of feathers. (Read my previous New Moon chat with Rosenberg here.
One of the additions to the movie that wasn’t necessarily in the book was Bella’s big “I’m confident!” speech at the end. How important was it to include a scene like that in the film?
You’re the first person to notice that! The character of Bella in the movies, and as portrayed by Kristen, has taken on a life of her own in certain ways. She’s a strong character, so it was about really being true to the character as it developed in the movies. She just struck me as someone for whom that would be true. It goes to the bigger theme of the movie; it’s not just a choice between Jacob and Edward, it’s about her choosing who she is, what kind of life she wants to lead. So it was really about addressing the bigger themes and staying true to the character of Bella as she has evolved in these films.
You’ve now written three full films in the franchise; how much has each script responded to critiques, from fans and/or critics, of the previous films?
I’m not sure; everybody who’s involved in them, we really try to do our best to stay true to the book. There are going to be some people who don’t like that and some people who do, and if you start responding to the people who don’t like it you start pissing off the people who did. So you have to be true to your own creative instincts for what works and what doesn’t. If people ignored the movie and boycotted it coming in and it didn’t do well, then I think we would be listening. But the movies have done tremendously, so obviously somebody likes them! So we keep going with our gut.
Eclipse really ramps up the action from the previous two films — it’s darker, what with all these vampires going a-killin’ and coming after Bella. When you were writing the script, how much did elements of horror factor into your vision?
They factor in a lot. The books have horror elements in them, so a lot of time for me it was threading those through from the beginning. The book lends itself to really building a suspenseful situation, keeping the threat hanging over the entire time. So it was kind of fun going down that path.
How early on did Stephenie share with you the events and character details that made it into her new Twilight novella, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner?
It would have been in the outline stage. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to introduce Riley; that was one of my first ideas: let’s open on Riley and how he was created. Coming up with a back story for him and all of that. I think I had probably finished a draft of the outline, it was somewhere around then, and I was asking [Stephenie] about what the newborns were up to — what was going on for them while Bella’s living her life, because they’re living it simultaneously? And that’s when she shared it with me and I was really able to fill out some of their activities and how Riley was directing them. So it was right there in the beginning.
I read it the other weekend, because I’m a nerd –
[Laughs] You and me both!
In reading the novella, I learned so many new things about vampire science in Twilight, like how vampires re-attach their limbs — who knew?
Exactly! I didn’t until I read that. And the underwater stuff — in the movie, there’s this great sequence where the newborns come out of the water; that was her visual, absolutely. I was trying to figure out, okay so these vampires are coming after the Cullens — how do they get there, do they take a boat, or they fly? And she’s like, ‘No, man…’ That was her visual right from the beginning.
It struck me that perhaps because of the timing of your writing the script and Stephenie finishing the novella, that you included events from Bree Tanner but tweaked them a bit — for example, in the movie Riley is more present, but Victoria and the Volturi’s motivations aren’t explained as clearly. How does that change the idea of authorship, where you’re writing scenes that didn’t necessarily happen in Stephenie’s books?
I guess I’m more attuned to Stephenie’s mythology as we go through, so I feel more confident to invent in her world. I’m always very cautious about not violating her mythology, and I think that’s the most important thing; when you’re talking about sci-fi/fantasy stories, the rules of that world have to be very solid and very intricate and very well designed, and Stephenie has done that. That is her genius. I now have a much better sense of what the boundaries of that world are, so within that world I can be let loose. She gave me permission, and I think I gave myself permission, to do that, moreso in this book than any of the others. That said, it was always very important to me to stay true to the book, so there was a little bit of give and take, but it just sort of lent itself to a little more expansion. It was very much a dance between her and I.
You two seem so collaborative at this point.
You know, it’s a blessing. She could be one of those writers who’s like, ‘It has to be this way, this is the way I saw it,’ and she’s not at all. She’s not precious about it. As long as it’s not violating the franchise, violating the characters and the mythology, she’s really open. She’s just a really great creative partner. It’s great having another writer to bounce stuff around with."

Interview With Eastern Conference Champions Off The Twilight Saga Eclipse Soundtrack
Bitchin’ Lifestyle interviewed Eastern Conference Champions recently. Their song ”A Million Miles an Hour” is featured on The Twilight Saga Eclipse Soundtrack. ECC talked about being a part of the Eclipse soundtrack and how they would react if they had Robert Pattinson’s level of fame.
Greg Lyons, Joshua Ostrander and Melissa Dougherty are about get a feel of just how powerful Twilight fans really are. While you may not have heard of a band called Eastern Conference Champions just yet, you will soon enough. Snagging a spot on the newly released ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ soundtrack, their song ‘A Million Miles An Hour’ is but one of their already amazing collection of accomplishments.
Bitchin’ Lifestyle chatted with ECC drummer Greg Lyons about the scarcity of soft pretzels in Los Angeles and got the 411 on how they are a part of the most widely talked about movie franchise around.
BL: How did ECC get involved with Twilight – are you aware of what a big deal it is?
GL: The Twilight thing was months of hard work for us, lots of stress, lots of hearing “maybe” and all that. We knew we had a chance but we also knew that hundreds of other bands – most of whom were more well known than ECC – were going for it as well. When we got the placement the three of us knew it would be a big deal but probably didn’t anticipate how big it actually is.
BL: Robert Pattinson has legions of ravenous female fans willing to sell their first born for chance at meeting him, how do you think you all would react to such a level of fame?
GL: We would cower and cry in a dark corner.
BL: Tell us about “A Million Miles An Hour” – what’s the song about?
GL: The song came together in a late night recording session just hours before we were leaving for Las Vegas to celebrate Josh’s birthday. It’s about how we feel we’re able to turn it up and come through with what we need to do at any given time and also about the never ending “hurry up and wait” moments that happen.
BL: What would you say are your musical influences? If you had to choose, which musical decade would you want to be a part of?
GL: We all grew up on a variety of music ranging from The Stones and The Beatles to The Pixies and The Jesus and Mary Chain, to anything and everything else. As long as the music is good, we’ll like it. This decade works fine for us as long as it has room for ECC.

Melissa Rosenberg Talks Breaking Dawn, Sex Scenes, and Child Birth In Her New LA Times Interview!
LA Times column Ministry Of Gossip has a new interview with Twilight Saga Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg.
In the interview they discuss how the screenplay is going for Breaking Dawn, Sex Scenes, Bill Condon, and Kristen Stewart -
Ministry of Gossip: ‘Breaking Dawn’ is no small undertaking. How’s adaptation going?Melissa Rosenberg: It’s going really well — it’s a very big challenge. It’s just thick with mythology and characters and choosing which stories to bring forward. It’s a beast, but I think it’s going well.Read more after the break!!
MoG: Stephenie Meyer has been consulting on the films from the start. Given this is the final chapter, what are her major priorities for the fans?
MR: She has always only demanded one thing, and that is that we adapt the book. All of her really big boundaries have to do with just adapting the book. That said, she isn’t terribly precious about things. She’s supportive of my bringing invention to it.
MoG: Speaking of which, [spoiler alert!] fans are crazy over Bella losing her virginity, the graphic birth of her and Edward’s child, and her vampire transformation. Any idea how you’ll handle such serious imagery? You can read the remainder of the interview here!
MR: On the fan site, on Facebook, all the comments are “It has to be R rated! You have to show the childbirth! Gore and guts and sex!” For me it’s actually more interesting to not see it. You know, you can do childbirth without seeing childbirth … it doesn’t mean it’s any less evocative of an experience.
MoG: Kristen Stewart arguably has the most work to do in the final films. Is she up to the challenge?
MR: Kristen Stewart is really, I think, tremendous. And one of the reasons why we got Bill Condon. And Chris Weitz, for that matter; they all want to work with her.
MoG: A lot of the fans credit you with giving Bella more backbone in the films than she has in the books. Was that something you did actively?
MR: That’s something I did very consciously. What’s interesting is that it’s all there — the strength was there, it was just kind of tearing away some things. You know, she’s human. She doesn’t have the physical strength of Edward and all of them. So how do you make the character strong when she’s physically vulnerable? There really is a goal to give her stamina and other strengths. She really is a role model.
MTV News: Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg On The Birthing Scene In Breaking Dawn!
The Twilight Saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg talked with MTV News and discussed the birthing scene.
“On the fan site, on Facebook, all the comments are, ‘It has to be R rated! You have to show the childbirth! Gore and guts and sex!’ For me it’s actually more interesting to not see it,” Rosenberg recently told the Los Angeles Times. “You know, you can do childbirth without seeing childbirth. … It doesn’t mean it’s any less evocative of an experience.”
When MTV News caught up with Rosenberg to talk about “Eclipse,” she said she was going to leave a lot of those hard decisions, like how to show Bella giving birth to vampire spawn Renesmee, to director Bill Condon. “From a screenwriter standpoint that’s gonna land more squarely in the director’s hands,” she teased. “That’s one of those things [where] I kind of say [and] make a few sort of general suggestions on the page and say, ‘Go! Go, Bill! Do it!’ ”
Franchise star Robert Pattinson told MTV News that he’s glad he doesn’t have to be the guy who decides how to bring the birthing scene to life. “I think that’s going to be very funny,” he said. “The only thing I know about it is the famous scene: the kind of cesarean scene … I do not envy Bill Condon to have to think of some way to do that.”
UPDATE! Melissa Rosenberg went to her Facebook page to clear the air with the birthing scene. Sex scene!! Birthing scene!! Thanks H2B!

Fearnet Exclusive Interview With Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg On Breaking Dawn
Fearnet.com recently spoke with The Twilight Saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. Melissa talked about Breaking Dawn…….. and feathers.
Jumping forward to Breaking Dawn, where are you in the scripting stage now?
Deep in the center. Kind of right in the first draft mode, dead center in the middle I’d say. Of both [parts]. I’m kind of writing them simultaneously — writing both outlines and then writing both first drafts because we’re shooting them together. [The producers] need things to prep off of, because they have to find locations, so in some ways I’ve been treating it as one film, but on two different pieces of paper. It’s a huge challenge. It’s a lot of pages!
Where exactly do you envision splitting Breaking Dawn into two parts?
We’re still talking about specifically where, but I think there’s kind of a natural break. You have the first half about Bella being human and a newlywed and pregnant, and the second half is about her being a vampire and a parent. I think somewhere in that transition is where it breaks. We’ve tried a couple of things and I think we’re settling on one, [but] we’re not sure.
You and I spoke before about how you stay true to the gory events of Breaking Dawn without going beyond a PG-13 rating. Is that any more of an issue, now that you’re writing it?
You know, I just don’t find that to be a challenge at all, honestly. I worked on Dexter, and I’ve said that pint for pint, there’s more blood on CSI than there is on Dexter, and yet Dexter is far more disturbing. So I think it’s not about how much gore you see on screen, it’s more about, are you conveying the terror of the scene, the physical pain of the scene? The tension of the scene? I don’t think you need to see gore to know what’s going on, and in some ways I think that’s actually more interesting. And I think that’s true for sex as well. I think the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever seen are more suggestive than they are graphic. So I don’t have an issue with it; I think we can do absolutely everything without having to see specific things.
Just so you know, certain fans of age would like to see lots of pillow-biting and feathers…

Ashley Greene — “Completing Breaking Dawn Will Feel Like Graduating”
Total Film has a new interview with Breaking Dawn vampire Ashley Greene (aka Alice Cullen) about how feel when it is all said and done -
“We all came into this as naive kids and we weren’t quite sure where it was going to go. So to come back to New Moon, we were all completely different. Eclipse was the same. We were all growing with these films.
“When we’re done with the fourth one it’s going to be an emotional moment for sure. It’s like graduating high school.”

Kristen Stewart says the split point in 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn' films is 'obvious'
'Breaking Dawn' by Stephenie Meyer - Hachette Books
Kristen Stewart, however, has been quoted to say that the split point is rather "obvious."
"I feel like it's so obvious where you break it up. It's as soon as she turns," she said to the Associated Press. "Gosh, you open your eyes to this different world, right? That would be amazing."
When producer Wyck Godfrey talked about the idea of making the second Breaking Dawn film a three-dimensional movie, he mentioned that the idea would be "when she becomes a vampire we move into 3D."
It seems, then, that the line has been drawn in the sand for the split of these two films and that the point of Bella's transformation may just be the carry-over after all.

Here is their entry for Jacob:
Jacob Black
Jacob Black wears many hats in The Twilight Saga: he’s Bella’s best friend, a muscle bound shape-shifter, and a talented member of the Quileute people. Gone are his long raven locks and boyish appearance from Twilight, as Jacob underwent an unusual coming of age in New Moon that transformed him into a P90X model, and, well, he turns into a wolf that is five times the size of his human form when he “phases” or, for non-Twilighters, “Hulks out.”
Before Jacob experienced his hairy transformation, he was a family friend of the Swans, a new generation member of the Quileute Native American tribe, and the previous owner of Bella’s tank of a truck. Since meeting, the two formed a connection that transcends normal levels of best friendship, leaving Bella confused and almost addicted to Jacob’s affection and charm. However, in New Moon, when Jacob underwent his metamorphosis, he grew distant from any outsiders who didn’t understand his existence.
Fiercely loyal and protective, Jacob is not only extremely gifted physically, but he is responsible and strong in character. As part of a chosen group that exists to protect the Quileute land from vampires, Jacob is, by default, at odds with Edward, but their respective relationships with Bella have helped bring civility to their conversations. It’s clear that Bella’s heart lies with Edward, but Jacob’s character makes him nearly as compelling a choice for her.

Julia Interview
FearNet has an interview with Julia Jones.
Check it all out here.
Here is an excerpt:
When we meet Leah in Eclipse, her entire body language is as hostile as her attitude towards Bella… what did you do to represent Leah’s physicality, of a woman newly changed against her will into a wolf?
That’s a really good question and nobody asks me about that. It was such a big part [of Leah]. That was, I would say, one of the biggest ways I kind of found her. The most obvious thing is, which it says in the book, that she’s always frowning; she’s angry a lot so physically, frowning was a part of it. Honestly, I watched wolves — amazing YouTube footage of wolves — and there’s this program about this man who went and lived with wolves. He infiltrated this wolf pack and became the alpha of this wolf pack. It’s long, and I watched the whole thing several times… there are things about how wolves move, and how they carry themselves, and their reactions to things, that I started to incorporate very subtly into how Leah carries herself.
The other thing about the physicality was that I think Leah has a lot of self loathing. The self-esteem issues that are warranted given all the things that she’s going through — those read in your body, too. Physically, it’s like you almost want to hide. You’re not comfortable with your body; you don’t belong, you don’t fit in.
