Ashley Greene & Jackson Rathbone Talk ‘Breaking Dawn’

Ashley Greene (aka Alice Cullen) and Jackson Rathbone (aka Jasper Hale) give their thoughts on Breaking Dawn.  Ashley spoke with MTV News at the premiere of her new film Skateland at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas and gives her take on Breaking Dawn being two films.  Jackson spoke with MTV News on the Orange carpet at the Kids’ Choice Awards and talks about the late Stanley Kubrick to direct Breaking Dawn and 3D.
Ashely: “I wouldn’t mind seeing it split up because the book is huge, and there’s so much that’s involved, and there’s so many different kinds of intertwining stories,” she told MTV News at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
“The problem with changing books into film is that you don’t have time to tell this intricate story that you do in 700 pages of a book,” she added. “I don’t think it could hurt.”
Jackson: “I think some films work in 3-D, and some films don’t,” he told MTV News on the orange carpet at the Kids’ Choice Awards over the weekend. “I don’t necessarily think it should be 3-D, but, hey, you know, it’s up for the production to decide.”

Eclipse’ Top Ten Quotes that Should be in the ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ Movie Script

The question on everyone’s minds when it pertains to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is how much of the book will be incorporated onto the big screen?  Well Gather has an awesome article with their choices for the Eclipse top ten quotes.
1. I believe that. But I want you to know something — when it comes to all this enemies nonsense, I’m out. I am a neutral country. I am Switzerland. I refuse to be affected by territorial disputes between mythical creatures. Jacob is family. You are… well, not exactly the love of my life, because I expect to love you for much longer than that. The love of my existence. I don’t care who’s a werewolf and who’s a vampire. If Angela turns out to be a witch, she can join the party, too.  Bella Swan, page 143.
2.It’s not like love at first sight, really. It’s more like… gravity moves. When you see her, suddenly it’s not the earth holding you here anymore. She does. And nothing matters more than her. And you would do anything for her, be anything for her… You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that’s a protector, or a lover, or a friend, or a brother. Jacob Black, page 176.
3.But I’ll never see anyone else, Bella. I only see you. Even when I close my eyes and try to see something else. Ask Quil or Embry. It drives them all crazy. Jacob Black, page 177.

4. I go a little berserk when I try to leave you. I don’t think I’ll go so far again. It’s not worth it. Edward Cullen, page 189.

5. You are the only one who has ever touched my heart. It will always be yours. Edward Cullen, page 195.
6. He sang me to sleep again and — aware even in unconsciousness that he was there — I slept free of nightmares. Bella Swan, page 208.
7.The way he stared at her! It was like a blind man seeing the sun for the first time. Like a collector finding an undiscovered Da Vinci, like a mother looking into the face of her newborn child. Bella Swan, page 242.

8.Besides… the more time I spend with you, the more human emotions seem comprehensible to me. I’m discovering that I can sympathize with Heathcliff in ways I didn’t think possible before. Edward Cullen, page 265.

9. You’ll always be my Bella, you’ll just be a little more durable. Edward Cullen, page 274.

10. I’m not that girl, Edward. The one who gets married right out of high school like some small-town hick who got knocked up by her boyfriend! Bella Swan, page 275.

Twilight’s TV Takeover!

Could “Eclipse” Actually Earn Less than “New Moon”?

The Twilight Saga: New Moon has shattered all kind of records, and pulled in astronomical amounts of cash at box offices around the world. And now with the recent release of the DVD, fans all over are gearing up for the third installment: Eclipse. With New Moon being such a success, will there be a three-peat with Eclipse?
Part of the reason “New Moon” grossed so much was that non-fans interested in the pop culture phenomenon and who hadn’t even seen “Twilight” hit the multiplex to check it out.  And yes, a lot of boyfriends were dragged along too.  Will those moviegoers be as eager to return for another go around?  Or, even taking the more lucrative summer season into effect, could “Eclipse” be blinded by a somewhat lower gross than “New Moon”?  One thing’s for sure, if “Eclipse’s” reviews are stronger than “New Moon’s” it shouldn’t be a problem.  If they are worse?  Watch out.
I hate to be the bearer of bad thoughts.  But I honestly think Eclipse is the gateway to all things Breaking Dawn.  I seriously think Summit is waiting to see how well Eclipse will do before we hear any BD news. It’s a bit late in the game, and they still don’t have a director? With 2 films and 2 DVD releases under Summit’s belt, and not to mention all of the Twilight memorabilia that is sold, why isn’t it enough?  If Eclipse tanks…we are all in some serious trouble.  At the end of the day it’s all about revenue $$$. What are your thoughts?

New ‘Eclipse’ Novella By Stephenie Meyer Coming June 5th! ‘The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner’

The Twilight Saga author, Stephenie Meyer, just announced on her website announcing a new novella she wrote about the newborn vampire, Bree, from Eclipse!  The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner will arrive in stores June 5th, 2010.  Bree is played by Jodelle Ferland in the upcoming film The Twilight Saga Eclipse
Surprise!
I have a new book coming out. It’s called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Well, it’s more of a novella than an actual book—my version of a short story.
Actually, this has been a surprise to me, too. The reason why it’s a surprise was that I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago—before Twilight was even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree’s perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn.
This story was something that I worked on off and on for a while, just for fun, in between the times I was writing or editing other Twilight novels. Later, when the concept for The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide came up, I thought that might be a good place for Bree. Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

At the same time, it came in handy for the Eclipse film. Melissa (Rosenberg, the screenwriter) had a ton of questions about what exactly was going on in Seattle, how Victoria managed things, what Riley was like, etc. I let her read what I had then, and later gave the whole thing to the director, David Slade. David asked if Xavier, Bryce, and Jodelle (Riley, Victoria, and Bree) could read it as well, so all the parties involved would end up having a really strong foundation for their characters before the cameras started rolling. I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.

(Keeping it confidential: Here is Jodelle next to the bucket of waterlogged ashes that were once the pages of her copy of the Bree manuscript.)
Then I got the news: my “short story” was nearly 200 pages long when typeset. It was too long to fit into the Guide—without ending up with a tome as heavy as the Oxford English Dictionary. My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.
There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com.
One other aspect of this release is the plan to give a more important gift to people who really need it. One dollar of each book purchased in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti and Chile and other parts of the world where people are in great need. We’re going to have an option online as well, so you can choose to make a donation if you want when you read the story online. I hope you will. I think that we can really help a lot of people with this.
I really hope you all enjoy this story. I had a blast writing it. I’m glad that after all this time cooling her heels in my files, Bree finally gets her chance to shine.
Thanks for all the support,
Steph
Notes from the webmaster:
[Here is the official press release from the publishing company if you are interested.]
As this is a surprise to most of us, it is also a surprise to vendors. There is not currently a way to pre-order the book, but I will update the page as soon as something becomes available.]

Brace yourself, Twilight fans. A new book from Stephenie Meyer is on the horizon. The Short Second…

Brace yourself, Twilight fans. A new book from Stephenie Meyer is on the horizon.
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella will be released at 12:01 a.m. June 5.
The 192-page story, an offshoot of the third novel in Meyer's best-selling teen vampire Twilight saga, has a first printing of 1.5 million. It's the first new Twilight title since Breaking Dawn, Book 4, was published two years ago.
The new novella is told in the voice of the teenage Bree, a "newborn vampire" whom we meet on page 569 in Eclipse. Ten pages later, she's dead.
"I started writing this a long time ago," Meyer said in an exclusive interview with USA TODAY. "It was when I was editing Eclipse. It was more of just an exercise so I could be clear about what was going on in the story."
The Twilight novels are told from the perspective of Bella, who falls in love with the vampire Edward Cullen.
"There's only so much stuff you can tell when what Bella sees and hears is all you can tell," Meyer says.
Bree is part of an army of newborn vampires created by Cullen family nemesis Victoria. Thirsty for revenge after the Cullens kill her vampire lover James, Victoria's plan is to use her army to kill the Cullens and Bella.
"The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is pretty much contained in the last week of the newborns' existence before the big fight (between the Cullens and the vampire army) in the meadow in Eclipse," Meyer says. "It's the last week before Bree dies."
In the novella, Meyer says, Bree has been a vampire for about three months. No other details are being released.
But some plot points from the novella have made their way into the Eclipse film, starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, which opens June 30. Meyer gave David Slade, the film's director, a draft to read during production. The character of Bree is played by Canadian actress Jodelle Ferland.
Fans have speculated that the next Twilight title would be Midnight Sun, the story of Twilight told in Edward Cullen's voice.
"I think they're all waiting for Midnight Sun," says Meyer, who put Sun on hold indefinitely in 2008 when a draft was posted on the Internet without her permission and went viral. "But I'm not writing about vampires right now."

New 'Twilight' book by Stephenie Meyer on the way

'The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner' by Stephenie Meyer
It's a great day in the Twilight universe. Stephenie Meyer has just announced a new Twilight book, a novella entitled The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella!
Stephenie Meyer announced the publication in a new blog on her website, revealing that the book was an exercise in character development of "Bree" while writing Eclipse and that the book will be available to online readers for free. Those that actually purchase the book, though, will be helping the American Red Cross as $1 from each sale will be donated to the organization.
The book, Meyer revealed, was a surprise even to her as it was initially intended for inclusion in The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide but was far too long (nearly 200 pages).
I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.
She posted a photograph of actress Jodelle Ferland (who portrays "Bree" in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse film, due this June) with ashes from the burning of her copy of the novella.
My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.

We're going to have an option online as well, so you can choose to make a donation if you want when you read the story online. I hope you will. I think that we can really help a lot of people with this.
Meyer closed the blog entry by stating that she was "glad that after all this time cooling her heels in my files, Bree finally gets her chance to shine."
USA Today reports that the novella will be released on June 5th at 12:01 a.m., and 1.5 million copies will be printed to start. They also quoted Meyer to state that she is aware Twilight fans might be looking for Midnight Sun but that she's "not writing about vampires right now."

Quileute Nation opens 'Twilight' website, authentic merchandise store

The Quileute Nation has just announced the launch of their Twilight site, www.Twilight-Quileute.com as well as an authentic Quileute merchandising store located at www.Quileute-Store.com.
According to a recent press release, "The tribe partnered with a Native based organization to design and build the site," and the merchandise offered on the Quileute Nation's E-Commerce site is "hand crafted by Quileute artisans and features carved cedar wolf rattles & paddles; woven cedar baskets & hats; canned smoked Salmon from First Beach; 'Twilight' inspired handmade items like 'Jacob', 'Bella' and 'Edward' wool hats; wolf dream catchers and other delights."
Additionally, the store offers hand cut cedar paddle necklaces made by the tribal schoolchildren in their classes.
“Traveling across our great country and observing other Native tribes commercially marketing their wares in a successful and respectful manner, motivated us to explore the concept of promoting culturally appropriate 'authentic Quileute' items online,” states Chairwoman Counsell-Geyer. ‘ Though we began this exploration prior to the “Twilight” phenomenon, I am delighted for the artisans in the village who have a global audience interested in owning a part of authentic Quileute culture, and thrilled we can share our art with fans and collectors who are unable to visit La Push personally.”
...
“I think it is great that the Quileute now have this venue to communicate with the world their perspective on things and I know people will be very surprised by some of the information to be shared in the future!”, states Spokesperson, Jackie Jacobs.
“The Quileute welcome you to visit the new site”, states Jacobs. ‘Drop by and take advantage of the wonderful Quileute offerings, but you will want to visit often as the “authentic’ items are “one of a kind” and will be replaced with new treasures.”

Jackson Rathbone's devotion to 'Dread' revealed

Jackson Rathbone - AP Photo
If you thought this weekend's sliming was as gross as it gets for Jackson Rathbone and the lengths he'll go to promote his films, think again.
MTV just posted this video of Rathbone promoting his film Dread by eating . . . a . . . maggot.
Yes. Maggot.
This video is a supplement to one of MTV's other articles about the film - in which he discusses the relationship between Dread and Twilight - and it certainly puts this actor's devotion to his craft in perspective.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon' DVD extras continuing to unfold

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.
For the most part, the special features found on the various DVDs for The Twilight Saga: New Moon have been revealed and discussed. That is, for the United States' versions at least.
Internationally, though, features are continuing to unfold.
The French DVD of New Moon has an interview with Taylor Lautner where he talks about his portrayal of "Jacob Black" in the film.
In the interview, Lautner revealed that when there was some speculation as to whether he'd be asked back to reprise his role, he just paid attention to "the things [he] could control."
The Japanese special edition version of the DVD includes clips from that press conference in Tokyo, Japan Robert Pattinson and Chris Weitz attended to promote the film.
In both new features, the subtitles are written in the native language of the country where it came from, but it's still fairly easy to infer what the questions being asked of the talent were.

ROBERT PATTINSON TALKS CONFLICTED CHARACTERS AND WAX ABS TO GMTV

GMTV has a great interview with Robert Pattinson that they did for the premiere of Remember Me in London. In the interview Rob talks about his hardcore fans, his interest in “conflicted” characters, romantic comedies, his character in Remember Me, lessons he learned on fame from Pierce Brosnan, playing Edward in the different Twilight movies and his hope for a six-pack on his wax figure. Check out the interview below:

Rob always has such a charm about him in interviews, even if he’s nervous. It really seems that he still enjoys playing Edward too. I love that he hopes they gave his wax figure a six-pack, although weird he didn’t know about it! I guess I thought they ask people before they make a wax figure of them.

ECLIPSE SOUNDTRACK MISINFORMATION…CORRECTED

Over the weekend there was some confusing information reported by The San Diego News Network. In the story, it sounded like the band Maren Parusel might be a consideration for the Eclipse soundtrack because producer Kim Fowley (of The Runaways fame) had struck a deal for spots on the soundtrack. Unfortunately none of that was true. Below is a excerpt from the original article followed by an excerpt from the real story:
Kim Fowley, the Hollywood kingmaker (or perhaps queenmaker) who put the “gall” back in Svengali, may have discovered a new star: SanDiego’s own Maren Parusel. “Mario Escovedo, the local talent hound who happens to be the younger brother of Javier Escovedo of ’70s-vintage all-boy rock band The Zeros, reports that “legendary producer” Fowley was in Austin last week for South by Southwest “to promote the movie about how he discovered Joan Jett and The Runaways,” when he “met Maren Parusel unloading equipment in an alley.”
“Two days later she was recording with him in Los Angeles,” remaking her “Ordinary Day,” Escovedo e-mails. “I’m hearing nothing but good things about the movie,” he adds. “And because of the actress playing Joan Jett, Kim Fowley struck a deal to write some songs for Twilight three.”
You can find the story here, but it is now corrected due to the following article which TA has confirmed.

The next day, Kim and I met with the music supervisor of the Twilight franchise, who mentioned to Kim that there was possible interest in his providing atmospheric music that might be utilized on thesoundtrack of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Kim then introduced the executive to Geoff Martyn, a founding member of the UK band Travis. As Twilight fans know, the Travis album The Man Who, to which Martyn and his brother contributed, was an inspiration to Stephanie Meyer in the writing process of Twilight. I recorded a demo of Geoff and Kim’s compositions at the Sheraton, songs to be sent to the executive for consideration for the Eclipsesoundtrack. As I write this, Martyn is hard at work in Glasgow, Scotland, putting the finishing touches on the material.
On March 19th, Kim and I heard the song “My Heart’s on Fire” performed on Neches Street in Austin by the unsigned band Maren Parusel. Kim liked the San Diego-based band so much that he offered to do a Test Recording the following Tuesday in Hollywood.
Read the full true story here.
I don’t even understand how these rumors get so wildly out of control! What TA has confirmed is that Kristen had nothing to do with any of this and Maren Parusel is not theband in question. Kim Fowley is working with musician Geoff Martyn (of Travis fame) in the hopes of landing a spot on the Eclipse soundtrack.

Another ‘Breaking Dawn’ Director To Consider: M. Night Shyamalan

With the third installment of The Twilight Saga nipping at our heels, the final film: Breaking Dawn still hasn’t been given a director.  All kinds of names have been thrown in the air from Chris Weitz to James Cameron, but M. Night Shyamalan?
This isn’t an official possibility on the table for Summit — as far as we know — but a noteworthy filmmaker professed his love for Stephenie Meyer’s vampire series in a chat on the Kid’s Choice Awards red carpet over the weekend: M. Night Shyamalan.”I would’ve loved to be– I love the series, and Catherine [Hardwicke's] movie, it was one of my favorite movies of that year,” he said. “Really, I thought tonally, it was a perfect movie. I called her up after I saw ‘Twilight’ and was like ‘That was amazing.’ So I’m a big fan.”
Shyamalan just recently worked with “Twilight” star Jackson Rathbone on “The Last Airbender,” a live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese anime series “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

Twilight' series and cast needs your vote for MTV Movie Awards, potential nominations revealed

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.
Just now, nominations for this year's MTV Movie Awards opened up to user-based voting (the same procedure as last year, where you vote for the nominees and then vote for the winners), and so far, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, its cast, and their other films (particularly Remember Me and The Runaways) are listed in quite a few categories!
For starters, the Twilight Saga has certainly made a stay on the potential "Best Kiss" nominations list, with four Saga-related kisses in the mix. Potential nominees for the category are as follows:
  • Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in The Twilight Saga: New Moon
  • Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin for Remember Me
  • Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in The Runaways
  • Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift in Valentine's Day
The Twilight saga did not get a nod for "Best Fight" or "Best Villain" despite the wonderful Volturi cast and scenes. Although, fans who believe this is an error are free to suggest a cast member (cough Michael Sheen cough) or fight scene for those spots.
Anna Kendrick was nominated for "Best Female Breakout Star" for her work in Up In The Air. This'd be about the dozenth nomination Kendrick has received for that movie. Surprisingly enough, though, this time she's pitted against Emilie de Ravin for her work in Remember Me. Remember Me wasn't de Ravin's first film, nor was it the first project she's worked on that gained her some notoriety (Lost, anyone?), but it's certainly been one of the . . . yes, to cheese it up . . . more memorable roles thus far.
The "Best Female Performance" category is stacked with Twilight stars, too. It even leaves Kristen Stewart in competition with, well, herself for the nomination.
  • Kristen Stewart in The Twilight Saga: New Moon
  • Kristen Stewart in The Runaways
  • Dakota Fanning in The Runaways
Same goes for "Best Male Performance" with Robert Pattinson versus Robert Pattinson in at least one instance . . . and against his on-screen nemesis (sort of) in another.
  • Robert Pattinson in The Twilight Saga: New Moon
  • Taylor Lautner in The Twilight Saga: New Moon
  • Robert Pattinson in Remember Me
One of the newer categories for this year's Movie Awards is "Global Superstar," and you'd probably not be surprised to find out that Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner are among those nominated for that . . . er . . . nomination.
Finally, the "Best Movie" category also pertains to Twilight fans.
  • The Twilight Saga: New Moon
  • The Runaways
As a refresher, at last year's MTV Movie Awards, the first trailer for New Moon was shown, and the Twilight series won in the following categories: "Best Movie" (Twilight),  Kristen Stewart for "Best Female Performance," Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart for "Best Kiss" (in Twilight), Robert Pattinson for "Breakthrough Performance Male," and "Best Fight."
The MTV Movie Awards will take place on June 6th, and more about how the voting for nominations system works can be found here (or you can go straight to voting for these nomination selections here).

'Twilight' fan reaches out to advice column, is told to 'seek counseling'

'Twilight' by Stephenie Meyer - Hatchette Books
Among Twilight fans, there are shades of devotion. Some people are casual fans who'll pick up the books or go see the films, and others are rapacious, Saga-hungry fiends who'll spend five days on the sidewalk just to see the New Moon premiere or sit outside behind a cramped barricade all day just on the off-chance they'll see a glimpse of Robert Pattinson at work (Note: all types of Twilight fans are welcome here).
In one woman's case, she has found that the Twilight series' hold on her attention is getting to be a bit much, so she reached out to the L.A. Times/Chicago Tribune's "Ask Amy" column for advice.
"I have been obsessed with these stories and have really grown attached to the primary male character . . . I feel like I am missing a lot all of a sudden, and I keep thinking about this character and wanting a love like he has," she explained.
From the rest of the description offered, it was hard not to tell that she was referring to her affection for Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, so the columnist outted her as being a Twilight fanatic and advised that she seek professional help.
"If you confess to an obsession, wonder if you are having a breakdown and worry about your behavior, then you should seek counseling," said Amy. "You must be the hero of your own story."

Taylor Lautner wins 'Favorite Movie Actor' Jackson Rathbone gets slimed at Nick Kids' Choice Awards

Taylor Lautner - AP Photo
This year's Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards had a few Twilight treats, especially for Taylor Lautner.
He, Jackson Rathbone, and Nikki Reed (co-stars in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) all made their way to the KCA's 2010 show, and Lautner brought home the orange blimp for "Favorite Movie Actor."
Jackson Rathbone, too, took the stage - only he got a little slimed in the process. Rathbone presented - with Jerry Trainer and his The Last Airbender co-star Nicola Peltz - a skit called The Last Slimebender.
Lautner also sorta won when his team ("Team Jacob") nabbed the "Cutest Couple" award over Edward and Bella.
Guess kids really do love their puppies!
Below are some of the event videos from KCA 2010 as well as a slideshow of the Twilight cast present.

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Ashley Greene in new 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' feature

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
One of the first video features (of many, to be sure) for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has been revealed by Access Hollywood, and it includes a few new statements from actors Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Ashley Greene about the film.
The three talked about a range of issues surrounding this leg of the Saga.
For instance, in the interview, Kristen Stewart admits that the situation that her character Bella Swan is in during Eclipse is "really ideal" because she's stuck between the affections of two similarly (albeit opposite) powerful creatures that adore her.
She and Robert Pattinson also talked about how not ideal it is, though, to be inside the fishbowl when it comes to relationship matters . . .
Ashley Greene closed it up by referring, once again, to the "huge" battle sequence that fans can expect in Eclipse. (Anyone else starting to get tired of hearing about that?).

2010 MTV Movie Award nominations begin today!

Starting later today, you can start nominating The Twilight Saga: New Moon (and any other movies you want) for the  2010 MTV Movie Awards:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Film fans can choose the nominees for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.
The network says viewers can log on to movieawards.mtv.com beginning at noon Monday and submit their favorites in 13 categories. Nominee submissions will be accepted until April 9.
Any 2009 film or performance is eligible for consideration in categories including best villain, best fight and best kiss. MTV added three new categories to the competition this year, and the titles of two of them are so racy they can’t be printed here. The two unmentionables are action- and horror-related. The third is best global superstar, and for the first time in MTV Movie Awards history, voting in that category will be open worldwide.
Winners will also be chosen by fans online. The MTV Movie Awards will be presented June 6.

Last year, Twilight dominated the categories at the MTV Movie Awards, winning in almost every category in which it was nominated.

Vote now for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards!

Voting is now open for the nominees for the  2010 MTV Movie Awards.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon and series actors are up in the following categories:
Best Movie: The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Best Female Performance: Kristen Stewart (for New Moon & The Runaways); Dakota Fanning (The Runaways)
Best Male Performance: Taylor Lautner (for New Moon); Rob Pattinson (for  New Moon & Remember Me)
Breakthrough Female Performance: Anna Kendrick (for Up in the Air)
Best Kiss: Rob Pattinson & Kristen Stewart (for New Moon); Dakota Fanning & Kristen Stewart (for The Runaways); Rob Pattinson & Emilie de Ravin (for Remember Me); Taylor Lautner & Taylor Swift (for Valentine’s Day)
Best Global Superstar: Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, & Robert Pattinson are all nominated
You can also write-in additional nominations … categories to consider for write-in nominations are Best Villain (Michael Sheen as Aro, Dakota Fanning as Jane), Best Fight (Edward vs. Felix; Laurent vs. The Wolves; Victoria vs. Everyone); Best A**-Kicking Star (Edward? Jacob?); Best Female Breakout Performance (How about Ashley Greene as Alice?) … just some ideas. The Lex also has some suggested write-in votes.

MTV Movie Award Nominations Are Out! Twilight in Most Categories.

MTV2010MovieAwards
Voting for the annual MTV movie awards has begun. This year in addition to the standard categories, MTV has added three new categories: Global Superstar, Best Ass-Kicking Star and Best Scared-as-Sh– Performance.
Here’s how the nominations panned out. We think we did pretty well on our predictions! BUT we think we can do better by using the write in feature that comes at the bottom of each category!
Best Movie: New Moon
Best Female Performance: Kristen Stewart (competing against herself in New Moon and The Runaways, and Dakota is nominated for The Runaways.)
Best Male Performance: Taylor Lautner (with competition from Rob in Remember Me,  well…this is going to be interesting.)
Breakthrough Female Performance: Woo Hoo! Go Anna Kendrick for Up In the Air!
Breakthrough Male Performance: Taylor Lautner is not there? Is it because they put him in last year against Robert Pattinson? Time to use that write in feature!
Best Villain: Neither Michael Sheen nor Dakota Fanning made it. Time to use that write in feature, again!
Best Kiss: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (However competition from Dakota and Kristen in The Runaways, Rob and Emilie in Remember Me, and Taylor and Taylor in Valentine’s Day)
Best Fight: WOAH! Daniel Cudmore and Robert Pattinson didn’t make it. Time to use that write in feature one more time!
Best Ass Kicking Star: Daniel Cudmore could use a little love here, use that write in in this new category!
Best Global Superstar: Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson (Holy Way To Split The Vote, Batman!)
Best Song: In a shocker move, the category is eliminated!
So get over to MTV and get voting!

James Woods Scouting Locations For Movie With Kristen Stewart

According to Buffalo station WGRZ, to actor/director James Woods is scouting locations in the Buffalo, NY area to film a movie called American Girl starring Kristen Stewart.

“I was searching for the heartland of America, and I couldn’t think of a better place than Buffalo,” said Woods in an interview with 2 On Your Side’s Stu Boyar. Woods plans to step away from the silver screen and take on the roles of director and producer. The film, entitled An American Girl, is set to star Kristen Stewart, the actress most commonly known for her leading role in the Twilight films. Stewart will play a woman who enlists in the Marines in hopes of finding herself, only to be wounded in the line of duty…”This movie honors all people who stand in harms way for others,” said Woods. “It is a message not told often enough in this industry, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Hit Fix: Will Eclipse Make Less Money Than New Moon?

eclipsecrop
So far the Twilight Saga movies are on the rise. New Moon beat Twilight’s box office total in under 14 days, but what will happen with Eclipse? Frequently, franchise movies aren’t on a constant build. For example the Harry Potter movies have had their ups and downs. Harry Potter and the Socerer’s Stone, the initial movie in the series, remains the best selling Potter movie followed by Half-Blood Prince and Order of the Phoenix. The Prisoner of Azkaban, third in the series, is the least successful at the box office.
Hit Fix examines the possibilities:
“One of the films expected to battle for the summer box office crown or at least place in the top five is the third “Twilight” feature, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”  The second installment, “New Moon,” broke the single day all-time opening record with $72 million, is currently the third biggest 3-day opening of all time with $142 million and ended up with $296 million domestic and $707 million worldwide.  And that was all in November when many of the franchise’s younger fans had school on Friday (although let’s assume many of them cut out early).  “Eclipse’s” June 30 release should find those young tween girls out of school and flocking to the theater. Adding more intrigue to the box office gross is that “Eclipse” will also be released in IMAX theaters which feature higher ticket prices.  So, a larger opening weekend is guaranteed right?  No doubt, but what happens after that?”

Jackson Rathbone Talks Dread to Movieweb

jacksonrathbonedread2
Jackson Rathbone covers his role in Dread and his recent stint as a music video director and palns for teh future.
“We talked a bit about the music video you directed. Is that maybe a stepping stone into feature directing for you then?
Jackson Rathbone: Oh, definitely. I’m actually adapting a couple of short stories right now, not for full-length but for short films, so hopefully I can start kind of slowly, get my feet wet, starting to inch my way to that big feature directing, producing and writing. I want to start off adapting and directing those short films and then, hopefully, write and original full-length film and direct it. That’s kind of my plans for next year or the year after. It’s definitely going to happen within the next few years.
Are these short stories anything we might be familiar with?
Jackson Rathbone: Well, right now, I’m kind of in the middle of the option agreements and all that. I can’t really talk about it too much, I don’t want to jinx it. I want to make sure it goes through and get the option, because I’ve already kind of written it (Laughs). Now I’m just waiting to make sure that’s legal.
Finally, what would you like to say to any fans of the horror genre or maybe your Twilight fans about why they should pick up Dread on DVD?
Jackson Rathbone: Well, I think if you want to have a good time with a nice psychological thriller, get a little scared, I think it’s a good movie for your girlfriend too (Laughs). Make her hold you close, that’s always right with a horror film. It’s a great film. If people are interested in checking it out, I’d love it.”

A Runaways and Eclipse Soundtrack Connection?

maren-parusel
According to San Diego News Network legendary music insider and talent finder Kim Fowley is apparently helping Maren Parusel, an up and coming San Diego musician, win a spot on the Eclipse soundtrack. There also may have been a bit of assistance from Kristen Stewart.

So, maybe it’s a shot in the dark and maybe they have a shot, only time will tell because very indie band in town is sending in their pitch. For that matter so are the mainstream ones, Muse seems to have worked their way back on the soundtrack after initial reports that they were off.
Is anyone a fan of Maren Parusel? How would you classify her music?

Jackson Interview

FearNet has up the second part of their interview with Jackson Rathbone. If you missed the first part I put that link below too.
Part 1
Part 2
Here is an excerpt:
Tell us about your guest spot on Criminal Minds, which may have been a surprising role for some fans see you in.
That was one of the roles that I, to use a vampire pun, loved sinking my teeth into. I just love playing characters that are really out there. That was a hard role; I got to work with [actor-director] Jason Alexander, who’s incredible to work with as an actor because he is an actor and he understands the difficulty in trying to play extreme characters as honestly as possible. I had a great time working on that set. I got to work with Matthew Gray Gubler a lot – he’s one of the coolest guys I’ve met so far.

Jackson Interview

MovieWeb has an interview with Jackson Rathbone.
Check it all out here.

Here is an excerpt:

You’ve done a few horror films in the past, so what was it like to get a script for a Clive Barker adaptation? What were your original thoughts on the script when you first read it?

Jackson Rathbone: Well, before I even read it, before I even knew it was a Clive Barker adaptation, I was really excited about it. Then I read it and I was blown away, to be honest. It’s a much more humanized version of that kind of dark world that Clive is famous for creating. Once I read it, I was compelled to do the project, especially since I made a friend of mine read it, and the ending kind of made him a little bit sick, which is awesome, I think.
