A Summit Entertainment spokesperson has confirmed to HitFix that “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” will open nationwide on Nov. 18, 2011. It’s still officially unknown if “Dawn” will be broken up into one or, as rumored, two films. Stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are all expected to return.
There had been some concern after the final “Eclipse” trailer premiered that this third installment in the “Twilight Saga” would sacrifice the love story for the action (apparently everyone forgot the first trailer, which showed us otherwise). The unanimous response was that the love story is definitely still there, and it is very hot and heavy. This means, yes, the leg hitch, the tent scene and Bella and Jacob’s kiss all make the final cut, and, as one Twitter user claimed, were enough to “get her turned on.” And yes, the scene where Bella punches Jacob is also included, though we never doubted that it wouldn’t be in the film.After reading over many reviews — I can’t believe this would be possible but I’m even MORE excited for Eclipse! Come on June!!!!!
But that doesn’t mean that the action wasn’t great either. This was an early cut of the film so some of the animation was still a bit off, but everyone seemed to think that it was the best action of the series. The fact Jasper was featured quickly but clearly in the second trailer’s fight scene tipped us off to the fact that he and Alice were going to be pretty prominent in the action sequences, but apparently they get a lot more face time throughout the entire film, and actually get a chance to really interact with each other. Unfortunately, Jackson Rathbone’s wig is supposed to be pretty bad, but Kristen’s is better since the first trailer.
Which brings us to some other exciting news: everyone loved Jasper and Rosalie’s flashbacks. We already knew that Jasper would be seen horse back in Civil War regalia, but apparently this was news to other people. As far as Rosalie’s flashback goes, we read that her entire conversation with Bella lasts about five minutes, but the actual flashback is only about two minutes. This is kind of a let-down, but if a picture is worth a thousand words we’re guessing David Slade was able to do a lot with those two minutes.
It’s been a bit of a trend that fans keep labeling the newest director in each “Twilight” film as being better than all the previous ones (sorry, Catherine Hardwicke). Unsurprisingly, there were many claims that David Slade did a great job with “Eclipse” and that he’s the best director yet, which is exactly what Chris Weitz predicted back when everyone was rallying around him after “New Moon.” This also is allegedly the funniest of all the “Twilight” films so far, so if David can top “Face Punch,” we’re going to be really impressed.
Next month, the Los Angeles Film Festival will likely welcome a new contingent: throngs of screaming girls.[via ThinkingofRob.com.
The annual event, which announced its lineup on Tuesday, will feature the world-premiere screening of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” the long-awaited third installment in the popular vampire franchise. It’s not exactly typical film festival fare, but organizers are hoping it will serve a larger purpose.
“If we program a movie like ‘Twilight’ that draws audiences that might not otherwise attend film festivals, hopefully we’ll expose them to other cinematic experiences that we think are inspiring,” said festival director Rebecca Yeldham.
Still, fans eager to see “Eclipse” before it hits theaters in July will have to pay for the privilege. Only those festivalgoers who purchase one of the festival’s top-level passes — which range in cost from $500 to $1,000 — will get inside the Nokia Theatre on June 24.
It’s my first time writing but I’ve been following your website for a long time now, absolutely love it! I’m sure you know, but the Oprah Winfrey show was asking for Twilight fans to write to the show stating why they love the series and movies and everything…well I got a call from them a few days ago and was invited to the Oprah show!! I don’t know too many details other then I’ll be in the audience and that the Twilight cast will be there. Aside from that, I got to attend the screening of Eclipse tonight and I just wanted to share with you my experience.
First, the trailers HARDLY give the movie any justice, which is always a great thing – you go in expecting one thing and leave completely blown away. This movie was by far the best and I have no negative comments on it. David Slade did an amazing job, his shots and fight scenes were amazingly done. By far the best yet. They stayed completely true to the book – this had the most direct and almost direct quotes andddd LOTS of making out!! Very Edward and Bella focused which was great! And the most exciting, Jasper was truly the breakthrough character of this movie. He was the most impressive and I loved that he had actual dialogue in this movie.
This movie will definately be more guy friendly, and the humor has stepped up big time! It’s not cheesily thrown in there like the crack of “guess the wolf’s outta the bag.” More edgy this time around. Sexual humor was tossed around too. I know all the Twilight fans are going to be amazed and definately not disappointed!!
Hope my little critique got you all excited for Eclipse!! I’m definately seeing it again when it comes out!
