Screencaps From The Oprah Show Sneak Peek, With a NEW ‘Eclipse’ Still!!

Check out the awesome screencaps from the Sneak Peek of the Oprah show we just showed you!!

Salary dispute holding up 'Twilight 5' announcement

Summit Entertainment is working furiously to close the talent deals required to split Stephenie Meyer's fourth "Twilight" novel into two films. But an unlikely roadblock is holding up an announcement -- and could even lead to cast changes for the series' final installment.

The studio is close to finalizing agreements with leads Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, all of whom will get big raises to return for a fifth installment of the vampire romance saga. And director Bill Condon is already signed to film two "Breaking Dawn" movies, which would be shot back-to-back starting in the fall and released in November 2011 and summer 2012, respectively.

But Summit is having a harder time locking in some of the franchise's secondary characters. Deals for Peter Facinelli (who plays Carlisle Cullen) and Billy Burke (Bella's father, Charlie Swan) are done, but we're told the actors who play the Cullen kids (especially Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene) are trying to sink their teeth into bigger paydays that, at least at this point, the studio behind the billion-dollar franchise is unwilling to provide. "We may have a situation where one of them is thrown out on the street to make a point," says a source close to the dealmaking.

So are we headed for a recasting on the final "Twilight"?

There is precedent for such a tactic. After the success of the first film, Summit axed Rachelle Lefevre, who played Victoria, in part because her reps played hardball on money. (Bryce Dallas Howard got the job instead.) Now, two films into the series, even the minor Twilighters (Lutz in particular) have become sought-after stars, so it makes sense they'd want to be paid more for the final film. But we're told that the offers from Summit -- which are said to be at least 10 times what the actors made on the first movie -- were deemed "offensive" given the mega-money the franchise has generated.

Summit declined to comment on the situation. But the studio wants to move quickly to pull the trigger on two movies -- and it isn't afraid to recast if deals can't be reached. Plus, it has even more reason to be concerned about costs this time around. As is typical with blockbuster franchises, the "Twilight" movies are becoming more expensive with each installment. And the leads are going to do especially well if "Breaking Dawn" is split into two parts. The trio were initially signed for three films (remember, this was back when "Twilight" was a low-budget adaptation of a niche YA novel), but in the spring of 2009 -- after the first movie became an international hit -- they renegotiated all their deals so Summit could lock them for a fourth movie.

The studio then realized that "Breaking Dawn," with its 900-plus pages and narratives told from two perspectives, was dense enough to be split into two installments (as Warner Bros. announced it would do for the final "Harry Potter" book). Just one problem: The cast wasn't signed for a fifth movie. They're all huge stars now, with Lautner in particular running up his quote to the $7.5 million range, so another renegotiation commenced.

That meant ponying up big-time for the leads, which will make the final movie far more expensive than the others ("Eclipse," which hits theaters June 30, is costing around $65 million, a figure sure to be dwarfed by the fourth and fifth, even if costs can be amortized by shooting them at the same time). For that reason, Summit is still holding out the option of simply doing one "Breaking Dawn," although multiple sources say they'd be shocked if the fifth film doesn't happen. "This thing is gonna be two movies," one source says. "With or without the cast intact." Meyer has already signed off on the plan to make two, a key hurdle, given the approval rights she has in her deal.

Summit also is eyeing other cost-cutting measures for the final installments. A deal is currently being negotiated to move the production to Louisiana after making the first in Portland and the second two in Vancouver and Italy. Luring "Twilight" would be a huge "get" for the state -- and, given the tax credits, a money-saver for the studio.

"Twilight" has thus far been the rare tentpole franchise made on a non-tentpole budget. It'll be interesting to see the lengths that will Summit go to keep it there. Booting an actor from the final installment of a successful series could be a risky move, though we're betting that as long as their precious Bella, Edward and Jacob return, fans would get over any disappointment.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' merchandise wrap-up

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack
'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' OST - Summit Ent./Atlantic Records
Over the past few weeks, you've seen a lot of merchandising updates related to the Twilight series books and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. In addition to the fact that pre-sales are beginning in two major markets this week (Friday, May 14th), there have been updates related to the music, the toys, the games, and the books that are forthcoming from this franchise.
So, to make it simple and organized, here's a list of official Twilight-related goodies that are on the way in consecutive order (note that the retailers listed are not the exclusive options available for purchase and that other venues may, and in some cases definitely do, have the items available as well).
  • May 15th - Nordstrom's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse line: Previewed yesterday, the Eclipse line follows Nordstrom's successful run with New Moon merchandise. See: Nordstrom.com/Eclipse for more (including details on a coming Eclipse premiere giveaway).
  • May 18th - Eclipse Paperback Media Tie-in: Paperback book with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's one-sheet cover. Available at: Barnes and Noble.
  • May 25th - Eclipse Mass Market Paperback: Paperback version of Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer with unique cover of Kristen Stewart as "Bella Swan." Available at: Barnes and Noble.

  • May 27th - Eclipse Board Game: The third in the Cardinal Industries board game series. Available at: Amazon.com. This video should give you an idea of what to expect.

  • June 5th - The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella - This is Stephenie Meyer's newest Twilight series release, a backstory book devoted to the Eclipse character "Bree." Available at: Amazon.com.
  • June 8th - The Twilight Saga: Eclipse: The Official Soundtrack - While the artists list for Eclipse's soundtrack isn't yet available (except for with Muse), pre-ordering for the album is. Available at: Amazon.com. A bonus tracks option is also available at Amazon.com with the same release date.
  • June 29th - The Twilight Saga: Eclipse: The Official Illustrated Movie Companion: This is Mark Cotta Vaz's third illustrated film companion for the Twilight series. Usually, these include photos, interviews, spotlight features, and more. Very, very interesting. Available through: Amazon.com.
  • June 29th - The Twilight Saga: Eclipse: The Score: This is the official score to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse by Howard Shore. Available at: Amazon.com.
  • TBD - The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Barbies: "Alice" and "Victoria" are two of the Twilight femmes being immortalized into plastic. As a part of Mattel's summer line (date of release to be determined), these two join the already-release Twi-o of Barbies, "Edward," "Bella," and "Jacob."
  • TBD - Scene It? The Twilight Saga Deluxe Edition: Announced earlier this year, this game will be a combination of the three films (Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) and is scheduled for a fall 2010 release.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' pre-sale ticketing and run-time announced

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
Already, some pre-sales for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse have been seen in scattered venues, but just now Summit Entertainment has revealed that both Fandango and MovieTickets.com will be pre-selling their Eclipse tickets starting Friday, May 14th.
In addition to releasing the date of pre-sale for Eclipse tickets, Summit has also issued the official run-time for Eclipse!

THR' discusses issues with 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn' two-part potential

'Breaking Dawn' by Stephenie Meyer - Hachette Books
A lot has changed since last fall's Variety assessment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn's film progress. For one, not only has the film been officially announced (though not distinguishably as one or two just yet), but a director and release date (for part one, if two) are also now known.
Back then, the fact that contract re-negotiations would be necessary to secure a fifth film for the talent involved was already noted, and today, The Hollywood Reporter has discussed the progress being made on that end.
With publications like Variety or The Hollywood Reporter, high credibility is assumed, but it is still my policy to wait for official confirmation or statements by the studio or talent involved to take that information as an absolute. So, with that caveat in mind, here's what THR had to say.
In THR's discussion of the issue, they say that contracts have been moving forth nicely with some of the headlining cast members (specifically Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner) to make a two-part Breaking Dawn but that the same might not be true for some of the supporting cast members whose salary demands are reportedly not matching up with the studio's offers.
Business dealings and hard-balling tactics are sometimes just part of the game in Hollywood, so it's not too surprising that making contract arrangements with some of the cast (whose careers are emerging nicely as a result of this franchise) has become more complicated than mere offer and acceptance.
THR goes on to speculate whether it is possible that some of the cast might be up for replacement as a result of the negotiations. For now, know that nothing's been declared one way or the other on this matter. Also, I have a feeling both sides of the coin will come to an amiable agreement soon enough.
In the same line of discussion, THR goes on to bring in the topic of Breaking Dawn(s) possibly being filmed in Louisiana. So far, no official position on that issue has been announced either, but the idea is that it'd be fiscally efficient to use this as a production location.

Rob & Nikki autographed ‘Twilight’ one-sheet up for auction

This autographed one-sheet was donated to benefit the organization Do the Write Thing for Nashville.  It is signed by Robert Pattinson and Nikki Reed. You can go here to bid on it and to learn more about the organization.
From our most generous donor, Jen Lameroux, a one sheet from the Twilight script.
NOTE: The item was given to the donor directly from Nokia with a letter stating these were Rob and Kristen’s signatures. However, it appears the one sheet is signed by Robert Pattinson and Nikki Reed. We checked with someone else who has the same item, and they concur after investigation that it is indeed, Nikki Reed’s signature, not Kristen’s.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon' opening day numbers hold strong, so can 'Eclipse' eclipse them?

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse poster
'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
There've been quite a few major blockbusters to take the Hollywood spotlight since The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Avatar, for instance, knocked out all prior records with regard to domestic and worldwide box office numbers, and Iron Man 2 had a stellar opening weekend.
Still, none has touched The Twilight Saga: New Moon's opening day record of $72.7 million, and it's hard to say if and when a film would.
Some have speculated that the only contender for the spot will be this summer's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
The back-and-forth about whether Eclipse will outshine its predecessor(s) has been well-documented here, and the gist of the disagreement on the matter stems from Eclipse's temporal location in the year's film release schedule. The argument is that Twilight and New Moon were fall releases and that they had little in the way of competition while Eclipse is a summer release and has more to go up against box-office-wise.
However, some Twilight fans have suggested that it'll be easier to check out the movie in theaters as a summer release than it was to see the prior two.

Ken Doll Invades The ‘Eclipse’ Set?

NBC Los Angeles has a cute new article comparing Eclipse Vampire Peter Faincelli (aka Carlisle Cullen) to Barbie’s beau Ken. Based off of the new Eclipse still released last week -
One of the bigger questions that came to mind with the release of the latest “Eclipse” stills is whether Malibu Ken is moonlighting in the latest in the “Twilight” series.
Because it sure looks like him in one of the scenes. And we do know that Ken’s agent is getting him a lot of work with the “Toy Story” gig and all that.
But it turns out that that’s Peter Facinelli looking all kinds of buff and perhaps going a little heavy on the vampire make-up to give a plastic doll like affect.
Facinelli did tell PopcornBiz that he worked out like a madman for the latest in the “Twilight” saga opening on June 30. How his vampire character got so suddenly bulked up will not be explained in the movie (did they get a home gym at the Cullen household?), but it will come in handy battling nasty vampires.
Don’t expect him to go totally Malibu Ken. Dr. Carlisle Cullen does not take his shirt off.
“Carlisle is not the shirtless kind of guy,” he says. “It gets depressing because you do these workouts and your body is starting to look good. You kind of want your shirt to be off.”

Nordstrum’s ‘Twilight’ Inspired Clothing Line Revealed!

We previously reported that Nordstrum is coming out with a new Twilight inspired line of clothing and merchandise, to celebrate the release of Eclipse. Now MTV has brought you a sneak peek into the new line of clothing!
First up is the “Necklace” racer tank in moonmist ($28) — a personal favorite of mine! This affordable tee will look great paired with skinny jeans and boots for a night out with the girls, or with some comfy leggings on a lazy Saturday when you find yourself parked in front of your TiVo.
The “Newborns” burnout v-neck tee ($30) makes a statement on the front, which might give away your secret Stephenie Meyer obsession to the world, but a real woman shouldn’t be afraid to strut what she loves in public. In the MTV News office, I personally loved wearing the tee with my black suit jacket. A quick change into my leather jacket a 6 p.m., and I was ready to meet for drinks after a long day.
The Luna Twilight Duwop “Blush” Lip Venom ($16) has to be the best stuff to hit the make-up industry since that lip-plumping craze five years ago. This gloss is a must because it is great for moisturizing and it gives lips that all-day fresh color appearance. If you often forget to reapply after lunch like me, it’s no biggie because it stays on for hours (plenty of time for some vampire makeout sessions … wink wink!). The formula has a venom-tinged conditioning oil combined with a pink-plumping lip stain great for a youthful and gorgeous appearance.
Nordstrom’s line, which will be found will in the BP. department in stores, will be available for preorder beginning next Saturday, and in-store and online purchasing will start June 5!

The Twilight Sage Eclipse Score will be available in stores June 29th.  The same day the Eclipse Movie Companionis released.   You can pre order the Eclipse Score at Amazon.com!
PLUS!  The Latin American band, Jesse & Joy, will participate on the Eclipse Soundtrack!

Jesse / Joy are the only Latin American band to participate in the soundtrack of the film “Eclipse”, which will be launched on 8 June. The song composed by the duo portrays the typical melancholy of relationships in the saga of “Twilight.”
“He speaks of these emotions that make you feel a love that, at a time, consider something magical, and there is a desire that makes you lose gravity. You feel like you’re flying, and it’s all love,” Jesse said in a telephone interview major Mexican newspaper.
Seeking to portray love between Edward and Bella, played by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, the brothers wrote, a month ago, the words and music of the song Magic and Desire.
“We asked for nothing in particular. We wanted to express that gloom which has in general all the Twilight series,” said Jesse.
On the popular romantic films, the outer Space intérprertes revealed that it was difficult to agree, as each one is a fan of one of the stories within the film series. “I liked the first (” Twilight “), is one of my favorite movies,” said Jesse, while Joy prefers “New Moon.”

Jackson Rathbone Interviewed For College Papers for Airbender

jacksonAirhead
Various College Newspapers had a conference call with Jackson Rathbone to talk about his upcoming role in The Last Airbender. Santa Monica College’s The Corsair was one of the lucky publications.
“The name Jackson Rathbone isn’t one many are familiar with, which is shocking considering Rathbone plays Jasper in the “Twilight” saga, is a member of the band100 Monkeys, and is an indie producer and director.
Rathbone recently finished filming the “The Last Airbender” with director M. Night Shyamalan. The film, based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series, ties the four elements (air, water, earth and fire) together after a brutal war is launched. A century has passed since the destruction began and little has been done to change the situation. Rathbone’s character, Sokka, works alongside the four elements to reestablish peace in the world.
Following is an excerpt of a conference call interview that Rathbone had with nine colleges across the country in regards to the film.
Santa Monica College: How did you prepare for your role as Sokka?
JR: There were two months or so of intense Kung Fu training in Los Angeles for three hours a day. We had two weeks of rehearsals in Philadelphia where we ran through the scenes and the process was very natural. Shyamalan is a very natural director; it was very easy to work with him.
Northwestern University: Since you were so busy filming, what did you do when you had free time?
I never really like to have free time. While I wasn’t filming the movie, I was also performing with my band, as well as starting to produce a film with a bandmate, Jared Anderson. I was also busy getting the trailer ready for that project as well as new songs with the band when I got home at night. I don’t really tend to have much “off time.”

Twilight Lexicon Interview with Edi Gathegi

The girls over at Twilight Lexicon got to interview Edi Gathegi at creation Entertainment Official Twilight convention in Arlington.
Check out their interview with him here.
Here is a little excerpt:

Laura: That’s great. What about your fellow cast mates, the actors in the movie? Like you said, how do you pick a favorite out of all these guys you worked with? [On stage Edi had been asked who his favorite actor in the Twilight film was and his response was, "Well whose your favorite child? You can't pick!"]Sometimes when you’re on set with somebody, you just kind of have the moment where you click as an actor and you can’t predict that. It’s just chemistry. Anybody with Twilight you feel like you had that moment where you clicked and you like to work with them again?

Edi: Well, off the bat, the first that comes to mind is Rachelle. But I think just generally when you’re working in the television and film industry – and this is a gross generalization – but generally you connect with a lot of people, because you guys speak the same language. It’s the common vocabulary of what it is to be an artist in this business. So you all have sort of a commonality where you’re gonna connect with a lot of people. But with Rachelle it was like, “Oh, we’ve got the same sense of humor! Oh, we have the same interests. Oh, you’re like the female version of me! Let’s freaking party! Let’s hang out!” So we became friends.
But then again, everyone in the cast got along very well. I still hang out with Taylor. I see Kellan every now and again with my friends. I see Nikki a lot. Peter and I always make plans and then fall apart. Like last night, he’s here and I’m like, “Uh, I’m too tired Peter, and we reschedule for LA?” “I never see you in LA!” “That’s cause you’ve got kids… and a wife. Let’s set a night. Go hang out.” He has poker nights every now and then, and I do that.
But a lot of the casts are friends. But Rachelle was the first person that came to mind because, naturally I was doing most of my scenes with her.
