The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' fight coordinator reveals how the vampire fight scenes were created

Countless tales about preparations for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's fight scenes have been told by and from the perspectives of the actors involved in those sequences, but the words of the coordinator, Jonathan Eusebio, are new.
The Los Angeles Times interviewed Eusebio about his conceptualization of the film's fight scenes, and he admitted finding them to be a bit difficult to coordinate.
Film fighting, he revealed, is "an entirely differently monster than actual, real fighting," and it's more "like choreography, like a dance between the two combatants."
Particularly, he claimed, when it comes to vampire fighting.
"Everything is exaggerated. So when they throw someone, the impacts are huge. When they chase somebody, they're super fast. When they jump, they jump a little higher," he explained. So, he utilized a mixture of "of gymnastics, street acrobatics, running and precision jumping. There's a lot of stuff going on in there. It's not a martial art, but we tried to incorporate its physicality."
Eusebio also explained that the stunts were partially prepared for with in-house equipment, including videotaping the motions on a small camcorder and showing it to director David Slade for approval long before shooting began.

Melissa Rosenberg says there's a reason 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' is the best script yet

Melissa Rosenberg - AP Photo
In an interview with Collider.com, Rosenberg talked about the progression she - as a screenwriter - has enjoyed over the course of the three films.
"All three directors have been wildly different in terms of my relationship although similar in one very important way which is that they've all been really, really respectful of my process . . . they all understand what I do," she explained. "With David [Slade] it was, there's a lot of back and forth, because I was actually more involved in production and tailoring the script for him than I was with Chris [Weitz] and even Catherine [Hardwicke] . . . well, Catherine and I had a pretty detailed, pretty intimate collaboration, but with Chris it was sort of a hand-off you know, I was jumping onto Eclipse, so basically I just handed it off to him and he went on to production and did all of the production re-writes, so there was sort of not a lot of back and forth throughout. With David, there was more, particularly since he works very . . . he thinks visually, he speaks visually . . . he works a lot with storyboards . . . so when he would storyboard a sequence, he would bring it out to me and I could put it into the screenplay and interpret it onto the page so that everybody would understand what was going on."
She went on to state that with Eclipse, there was much more time on her hands for the project and that this was the ultimate distinction between the three..
"Time equals quality, it just does," she said. "When you just have time to go over something again and look at it another time and say 'Can I make it that much better?' and then having time to get feedback, which is a very, very important part of the process. With Twilight, I had almost no time . . . I think I outlined for about a month [with] five weeks to write the script, and that's really fast because I was fighting the deadline for the writer's strike. New Moon I had more time . . .  but I was also juggling Dexter at the time. So, by the time I got onto Eclipse, I was on hiatus on Dexter, I had a little more breathing room, I could really sit with it and think . . . it has been more and more time each one."

Jackson Interview

The Morning Call has an interview with Jackson Rathbone.
He talks The Last Airbender and Twilight.
Check it all out here.
Here is an excerpt:
Rathbone also was in the region for the filming of “Airbender,” a movie by Malvern, Chester County, native M. Night Shyamalan that was shot in 2009 primarily in eastern Pennsylvania, including Reading.
Rathbone isn’t exactly a household name but thanks to his meaty roles in “Eclipse,” opening Wednesday, and “The Last Airbender,” opening Thursday, he seems to be fast-tracking his way to box-office glory.
“It’s very exciting,” he says. “When I was a young actor starting out at 19, I could never have imagined this scenario. Being a part of two franchises opening the same weekend is really an amazing feeling.”

Anna Kendrick in You Magazine

Check out an Interview with Anna here.

Here is an excerpt:
Born in Portland, Maine, in the US, Anna started acting at the age of six when she became involved in community theatre (her older brother Mike is also an actor). By 12, she had won the role of Dinah Lord, younger sister to the female lead Tracy Lord, in a Broadway production of High Society. She garnered a Tony nomination for her performance, making her the second youngest nominee in the awards’ history. ‘It was amazing to be nominated and pretty similar to how I felt on Oscar night. I have an idea in my head of what a Tony or Oscar nominee is like, and it’s not as if I’ve turned into Penélope Cruz overnight. When I got the Tony nomination I thought: “Wow, they’re letting me play in the cool kids’ club for a few hours.”’

Here is an excerpt:

It’s official that you’re writing Breaking Dawn and it’s also official that it’s going to be broken down into two parts. How excited are you to be sinking your teeth into closing out the story?

It’s a really tough one. I’ve been working on it now for a little bit, and it was hard to crack. It’s a big story. The mythology is just really dense, very, very detailed, and there are tons of characters. It’s been harder than most… I don’t know. I say that every time. These stories are a little like childbirth. You forget the labor pains once the child’s grown up. Breaking Dawn, I feel like I’ve got a grasp of the story, but it’s a long way from being done. To me, the book lends itself to two movies. There are some natural breaks in there. There’s the before Bella is a vampire and after Bella is a vampire. So it’s doable.

Gil Interview

The Examiner has an interview with Gil Birmingham.
Check it all out here.
Here is an excerpt:

K: Can you talk at all about your role in Eclipse or the film in general? How did this experience differ from the others, and how would you characterize the different directors and what they brought to each film?

G: When filming Eclipse, it was still cold, and always rainy. We filmed Eclipse back to back with New Moon so there wasn’t too much time separation. It was just like coming home. The different directors have different set environments- during Eclipse we had to put big shields up and make more of an encampment to protect against long shots and paparazzi.

Tyson Interview

Moviefone has an interview with Tyson Houseman.

Here is an excerpt:
Have you had any crazy experiences with ‘Twilight’ fans?
I’ve had some odd encounters. I remember I was at a bar this one time and a woman came up to me who looked like she was seriously 80 or 90 years old. She came up to me she told me that she was a ‘Twilight’ fan and that she recognized me. It was such a weird experience. I guess that speaks to how diverse the ‘Twilight’ fans are.

What are some examples of things that fans have said to you, either in person or online?

Every time I tweet something, no matter what I say – even if it’s like “Oh, I woke up funny today”, I get at least five people saying “Marry Me, Tyson!” I think that’s the one that I get the most. Either “Marry Me” or “Take Your Shirt Off”. I don’t think I’ve ever been asked to take my shirt off so much in my life as I do now.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' tops advance ticket sales

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Entertainment
As was the case with The Twilight Saga: New Moon last year, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is making a splash in advanced ticket sales, becoming the top pre-selling film event of the year for at least two major retailers: Fandango.com and MovieTickets.com.
Deadline Hollywood reports, "Eclipse leads the Fandango Five with over 52% of daily ticket sales, even with strong daily sales for Toy Story 3 and Karate Kid. MovieTickets.com is also reporting Eclipse online ticketing represent over 50% of daily sales."
This report falls in line with early estimates that placed Eclipse as the probable top film of the summer and year.
Another interesting tidbit offered by Deadline's report states that "59% of Eclipse online  ticket-buyers said they became fans of the series after seeing the first movie."
Finally, Deadline noted some of the demographic poll results offered by these sites and the split between age groups who have purchased Eclipse advance tickets is pretty even with "33% of respondents [at] 24 or younger, 34% of respondents [between] 25-34[, and] 27% of respondents [between] 35-49."

Here is an excerpt:
Q: I hear you had a crazy encounter with a “Twilight” fan at an event in Australia where you were signing autographs. Can you talk about that?
A: “I get down to one (fan) who has the Wolf Pack tattoo right on her forearm. And I was like, ‘Whoa that is so cool. That’s the real tattoo. Is it real?” And she’s like ‘Yeah.’ And she’s like ‘Can you sign it, right here?’ And I was like ‘Yeah, sure of course.’ And I had a feeling about it, I did. And Kristen actually predicted it. Then the next day I got a call from one of my buddies asking if I signed a girl’s arm, and I’m like ‘Yeah, I signed a lot of girls’ arms.’ And he’s like ‘One of them got it tattooed to her arm.’ And I’m like ‘It was the girl with the tattoo.’”
