Bryce Dallas Howard to Direct First Feature Film
With all the Oscar stories and people swirling around this weekend, I did run into one of my favorite people, Bryce Dallas Howard, the talented and beautiful daughter of director Ron Howard. Coincidentally I’d seen Ron at lunch one day last week at the Grill on the Alley in Beverly Hills. But Ron–who’s prepping Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower,” didn’t tell me Bryce’s news; she did. Bryce is getting ready to direct her first feature and follow in her dad’s steps. The film, called “The Originals,” was written with her writing partner Dane Charbonneau. Previous reports suggested Ron might direct the film but they were inaccurate.Source: via Twilightish
Bryce told me: “It’s like a “Breakfast Club” for my generation.” Bryce turns 30 next week, so she’ll be inviting some actors her age to be in the film which, of course, will be distributed by Imagine/Universal. Any actors in mind? “So far, I wrote a part for Zoe Saldana. But there are so many good choices out there.” Bryce is not giving up acting. She’s in the “Twilight” film series, but keep an eye out for her in “The Help” coming in April. The buzz is very strong.

Summit Entertainment Projects Earnings of $1.2 Billion for Breaking Dawn!
Summit’s two coming blockbusters, “Breaking Dawn 1 and 2” will cost $263 million — not the $200 million previously reported — and are projected to bring in a staggering $1.2 billion for the studio, according to confidential documents obtained by TheWrap.(Source: The Wrap)
But the biggest news may be the cost structure behind the fourth and fifth installments of Summit’s blockbuster Twilight franchise. “Breaking Dawn 1” will cost $127.5 million, but according to the documents Summit only has $38.4 million at risk. The film will be released in November 2011.
The second film, “Breaking Dawn 2,” cost $136.2 million, with Summit’s exposure limited to $51.2 million, according to the documents.
The studio anticipates revenues of $1.2 billion related to just those two pictures, the documents say. They are projecting a profit of $228 million for the first film and $219 million for the second for a total of nearly $450 million.
The budgets of “Breaking Dawn” may be higher than expected, but they are relatively modest when compared to other Hollywood blockbusters.
Nonetheless, the costs have skyrocketed from the first film, when the studio put up a mere $37 million for “Twilight” and reaped $231 million in profits.

Jocelyn and I met on a bus to an audition in North Vancouver over two years ago. To strike up a rapport with someone in that short time goes some way to explaining the magnetism Jocelyn had; brimming enthusiasm, warmth and a wonderful smile draws you in, before her colorful charisma and lust for life opens up in conversation.Read more after the break!
“The next time I saw Jocelyn was on the set of “Twilight Saga: New Moon” where she was doubling Dakota Fanning. Once again, her radiance lit up the bleak and haunting Volturi Chamber. It was so nice to see her doing her thing and we chin-wagged much during the downtime. A friendship without pressures, we enjoyed each others company when it serendipitously occurred.
“Early 2010, I learned that Jocelyn had contracted a rare and terminal lung cancer with metastasis to the lymph nodes and spine. When I finally drummed up the courage to call her, all the pain, fear and strength she was experiencing was vividly and viscerally translated to me through our long conversation; one that will stay with me forever. Though empathy, in these circumstances, is null and void…
“Jocelyn passed away on February 13th 2011, aged just 36. To say that she ‘lost her battle with cancer’ would do a huge disservice to the incredible strength she showed during the course of her treatment. Jocelyn kept us all informed of her fight through her very frank and honest daily Facebook updates; it was raw and real.
“We weren’t close, but there are very few people who allow you such unguarded access to their soul upon first encounter. She was a pure one, and was meant for higher realms… To that extent, Jocelyn will always hold a place in me and I shall miss her. My sincere condolences go out to her family and friends.
“To embark upon such a mental and physical battle is something none of us might ever have to deal with at such a young age. And in a world where our struggle seems to be, more often than not, to excessively cotton-wool ourselves away from fear and pain, we never discover our real strength… it exists within us, but it is rarely called upon and so we remain a dormant race of wasted potential, warriors who will never be awoken. One day, our war may come and we may have to rely on our untested strength…
“To put ourself in the cross sight of our fears – to push ourselves physically and mentally further than we can imagine – is to break down walls, is to summon strength, is to evolve …as is our purpose.”

Next Movie: Why Nothing Is The Next Twilight
Hollywood is all about finding the next hot thing, whether that’s a script, an actor, a director, a genre (vampires anyone?) or the ultimate discovery, a lucrative film series.Read more after the break!
The seven “Harry Potter” movies have so far netted over $6 billion, while the first three installments of “The Twilight Saga” have earned just under $1.8 billion. That’s nearing “Oprah” money, people! (As opposed to “Potter,” which is nearing ”Zuckerberg” money… but we’d rather be Oprah.)
And that’s not even counting all the licensing and swag sales… you gotta figure another few hundred thousand in Edward Cullen lunchboxes alone.
Studio executives would happily hand over their firstborns to the Volturi for a lead on “the next ‘Twilight’ franchise” (trust me, I’ve prank-called). That’s because finding such a rarity is about as easy as winning the lottery.
Paramount developed “Twilight” for three years before getting letting the rights slip to a then-little-known production company Summit Entertainment. Universal and United Artists passed on their options for “Star Wars,” and 20th Century Fox gave Lucas hell through production, worried the over-budget film wouldn’t amount to much.
The problem movie studios run into is trying too hard to find “the next _______.” “The Twilight Saga” is as much the next “Harry Potter” as “Pirates of the Caribbean” is the next “The Lord of the Rings” or “Ice Age” is the next “Toy Story.” Fanatics of one series aren’t necessarily looking to glom onto a new similar thing.
It seems like every other week we’re hearing buzz about some book being adapted for the big screen that its producers hope can be “The next ‘Twilight.’” News flash, producers: There’s only, and will only ever be, one “Twilight.”
Before breaking down these wannabes, let’s first explore what makes “Twilight,” “Twilight.”
Addictive Book Series: If a reader spends time with the books, they’re definitely hooked for the films.
Odd Names: The Twi-Hard base are teen girls. They’re tired of being an “Ann” or “Sarah” and enjoy fantasizing about being a “Bella,” “Esme” or “Renesmee.”
Moping Female Lead: Not to sound derogatory, but teenagers mope. High school sucks, dude. We identify with Bella because we’re going through puberty, or have.
Heart-of-Gold Bad Boy: Vampires are heartless killers, but not Edward, who walks a thin line in between.
Supernatural Love Triangle: Who doesn’t want to be desired by both a debonair vampire and beefy werewolf?
The Real Reason Why Shiloh Fernandez Did Not Land The Role Of Edward Cullen
The 26-year-old confesses to NextMovie that he and Stewart simply “didn’t mesh.”You can read the rest of the article here!
Fernandez has reportedly said that he and K.Stew had no chemistry, but he tells us he wasn’t trying to take a swipe at the starlet or insinuate that she did anything wrong.
“It didn’t work because I wasn’t right for the part,” Fernandez tells NextMovie. “I read a quote recently that I supposedly said about Kristen… it was horrible. What I was really saying was it was me — I was the one who was nervous and awkward. She already had the role of Bella.
“I really wanted that part because I like the book and I think it’s a fantastic role, but we really didn’t mesh up. I’m sure Kristen would agree — I’ve never seen her besides that one day.”
See? Sometimes a guy means it when he says, “It’s not you, it’s me.”
Things worked out a bit better between Shiloh and “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke because she called him back to play Peter, the love interest of Amanda Seyfried in “Red Riding Hood.” This time,

Robert Pattinson Sings The Blues With Preservation Hall Band!
Sing us a song, piano man—let’s start with “Happy Birthday.” New Orleans’s Preservation Hall—where Annie Leibovitz shot young Robert Pattinson, shown tickling the ol’ 88 with the world-famous Preservation Hall band—celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Situated in the French Quarter, the music venue is one of the country’s most hallowed: it was founded in 1961 for the purpose of preserving New Orleans–style jazz, and indigenous American music. On his first-ever visit to the Quarter, Pattinson jammed with the house band and thoroughly held his own—his celebrity perhaps subsumed by that of the musicians, whose legendary status awed everyone on set. “When we first started, none of us knew that Robert really does play piano,” says Ben Jaffe, the tuba player (center, above), the band’s director, and the son of the venue’s founders. “But when he got up there, he started ticking out these notes, and it was obvious he wasn’t just tinkling—he really knew how to play.” Though the musicians were expecting the actor to just pose, Pattinson gamely jammed along with their tunes. After finishing a song, he leaned over to Jaffe “and said, ‘That’s the first time I’ve played with a group of guys like that,’” Jaffe recalls. Not a shabby gig—especially with Jaffe’s homemade red beans and rice waiting as reward.Source: VanityFair
On the landmark birthday, Jaffe says he and the rest of the band are humbled: “It’s really momentous for us to reach this moment in our history, considering everything New Orleans has been through in the last five years,” he says. “It’s really a testament to the strength of the people of this city.” Preservation Hall endured a several-month hiatus post-Katrina and reopened in May 2006, structure miraculously intact. We say miraculously, because the hall’s charm is that it looks as though it might collapse at any moment—it’s one big happy jalopy of a 350-year-old structure, with all the glorious paint-peel-y, rusty-hinged patina of a Clementine Hunter painting. It strains at the seams with ambiance. And we hope, lack of air conditioning and all, that it never changes.

Lee Pace Talks Bill Condon, Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart
“Kristen hasn’t lost any of that stuff that makes her special,” Lee Pace, who is playing Edward’s vampire BFF Garrett in the Breaking Dawn flicks, tells me. “People say it’s quirky, but I think it is authentic.
“She doesn’t march down these red carpets like a show monster,” the former Pushing Daisies star continued. “You see these girls and they’re all just like, ‘I’m living the fantasy. I’m wearing $10,000 worth of clothes and jewelry.’ Kristen’s just not like that. Kristen is just her.”
The same for Mr. Pattinson. “The thing about him that is so charming is what you see is what you get,” Pace said. “He is as charming and humble and handsome as he presents himself. Totally what you see is what you get with him.”
Pace also said that director Bill Condon‘s take on the movies is a bit more “dark” than the previous three movies. “Bill Condon is cooling up these movies,” he said. “I hope that doesn’t get me in trouble with anyone, but he’s cool…He really is killing it with this one. He’s making it cool. Bill is finding that stuff and letting it be as shocking as it can be, but stylish, too.”
Pace returns to filming Breaking Dawn this week after taking a three-week vacation to India. “I wear bright red contacts,” he said. “I feel so plain and boring when I take them out.”
And Twilight isn’t the only thing on Pace’s mind these days. He also costars in Ceremony, an indie comedy from first-time director Max Winkler that hits theaters April 8, with Uma Thurman.
Pace plays Thurman’s fiancé in the film while Michael Angarano (yes, Stewart’s ex!) portrays a young man infatuated with herand intent on ruining their wedding plans. “Uma Thurman’s pretty great!” Pace said. “Kill Bill is actually one of my all-time favorite movies. Her and Darryl Hannah beating the shit out of each other in a trailer? I love it!”
And it was just announced that Pace has joined the cast of the upcoming Broadway production of The Normal Heart with Ellen Barkin and Jim Parsons. The play focuses on the rise of the AIDS crisis in New York City from 1981 to 1984.

Breaking Dawn Filming News: More Set Locations Found In British Columbia!
I came across this location today while on a Tour. I saw a truck carrying green boxwood plants and like yesterday felt it was going to a new TSBD location so I followed the truck. That truck, like the truck yesterday lead us to this new Breaking Dawn Location. The house is just a facade. It is not a complete set house like the Swan House. The house is about 200 feet off the main road but is down a small slope. They just carved a site in the woods. They have installed a big net in front of the house to block the view from the road. We saw the set dec people bringing in beautiful iron yard furniture and potted boxwood plants. You can check out more set pics and read more about their findings here and here!
They are prepping for filming next week. My source tells me there are around 12 different New Moon locations on the go including Cypress Mountain and Pemberton and then Squamish.
The truck are set up at Gaskin Farms near Jacob’s House. My source also said they would be filming at the Black residence starting March 3 or 4th. Things change as often as the weather.

Breaking Dawn Filming News: Set Pictures From The Cullen’s Backyard!
This time she has obtained pictures from the Cullen’s backyard -
This will be where some fight training and perhaps a Bella/Emmet arm wrestling match may be filmed. You can check out all of the pictures here!
It is a great clearing surrounded by real and extra prop trees. It has filming equipment set up and several props and set dressings.
Not too far up the public dog walking trail is this building which had set designers working hard at yesterday.
Today all was quiet in the snow. Some speculate this is the back of the Cullen house (since we have never actually seen it on film) and that the house will serve as back drop to the scenes happening in the backyard.
Any other ideas on what the building is? We have seen the cottage and it is not Jake’s or Bella’s obvously – hrmmmm…..
