The actor (best known as Jasper in the Twilight films) plays a high schooler who moonlights as a U.S. spy on Aim High, Warner Bros.’ Web series produced by McG (Chuck) and premiering Aug. 1. ”It has elements of popular high school dramas,” says Rathbone, ”and then it’s got action.”
Aim High‘s also got Friday Night Lights‘ Aimee Teegarden, who plays Rathbone’s school crush. ”She’s fantastic,” he says. ”It wasn’t too difficult to play in love with Aimee.”

With ‘Potter’ & ‘Twilight’ Winding Down, Studios Hunger for Young Adult Novels

What’s the next “Harry Potter”? How about the next “Twilight Saga”?
With Harry Potter set to conjure his last spell on the big screen next month and the last “Twilight” movie due later this year, the race is on for studios to transform the next young adult literary property into theatrical gold.
There are a number of young adult adaptations in the works: Lionsgate has its hopes pinned on “The Hunger Games,” a New York Times No. 1 bestseller due in theaters next year with Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role. Screen Gems is readying “The Mortal instruments,” first in a series of six popular books, with Lily Collins as its star.
Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote all five of Summit’s “Twilight” films, is writing and producing “Earthseed,” Paramount’s entry into the young adult novel-to-movie sweepstakes.
“‘Twilight’ did really well as movies and suddenly everyone’s like, ‘Let’s get the next of that,’” Rosenberg told TheWrap.
But it’s not easy. New Line had high hopes for “The Golden Compass” in 2007 – a bust at $70 million domestic box office on a $180 million budget.
“A popular book is no guarantee,” said Rosenberg. “What works is good storytelling.”

Photos and interview: Rami Malek for TROIX Magazine

Rami Malek has an excellent photo spread in the new issue of TROIX Magazine, along with a new interview (conducted by Twilight Examiner Amanda Bell!). Here is a snippet of the interview.
“There is something unique about Bill Condon, in that he can get you to do something special and interesting on camera without letting on that your last take was absolute crap,” he said. “And it’s genuine the way he does it; there’s nothing dishonest about it.”

Which RPattz Character Do You Like More: Eric Or Edward?

Which character’s look do you like better for Robert Pattinson: Eric Packer (Cosmopolis) or Edward Cullen (Twilight)?

Robert Pattinson himself is a sexy stud. But which of his on-screen alter-egos is more gorgeous — Eric or Edward?
In his latest film, Cosmopolis, Pattinson plays Eric Packer — and his dashing costumes leave us wanting more. However, let’s not forget the role that made him famous. As Edward Cullen, R-Patz dazzled all of our in Twilight and its sequels. They both look so good, it’s hard to decide!

Jackson Rathbone’s ‘Girlfriend’ to be featured at Woods Hole Film Festival

WOODS HOLE, MA— From Saturday, July 30, through Saturday, August 6, the Woods Hole Film Festival observes its 20th anniversary with a celebration befitting the oldest film festival on Cape Cod and the islands. Dedicated to showcasing and promoting the work of independent, emerging filmmakers, particularly in New England, it will screen nearly 20 narrative features and feature documentaries, many of which are world and US premieres, and 60 short films (narrative, documentary, animation and experimental) in competition, as well as hold a number of special screenings, parties, panel discussions, and workshops by this year’s Filmmaker-in-Residence—all at the water’s edge in the quaint village of Woods Hole.
Many of this year’s films have a Massachusetts connection, including two films that are US premieres: Girlfriend, a narrative feature by Justin Lerner shot in Wayland, MA, and Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream by the Cambridge-based comedian. Girlfriend stars Jackson Rathbone (Twilight), Shannon Woodward, Amanda Plummer, and newcomer Evan Sneider as a young man with Down Syndrome who lives with his mother in a poor, working-class town hit hard by the recession. When Evan unexpectedly comes into a large amount of money, he decides to use it by pursuing a girl from town who he has been in love with since high school. Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream features comedy, commentary and conversation with some of America’s most iconic personalities and social critics, such as Howard Zinn, Robert Altman, Mort Sahl, Janeane Garafalo, Sean Hannity, Lewis Black, Margery Eagan, Jim Braude, Bobcat Goldthwaite, Sister Lena Divey, Al Franken, Robert Reich, Colin Quinn, and Barry Crimmins, as well as family, friends and total strangers and more. Willy Nelson, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Neighborhoods, and Jimmy Tingle on harmonica provide the soundtrack.

Catherine Hardwicke Talks ‘Twilight’ and ‘Red Riding Hood’ to Seventeen

Director Catherine Hardwicke has made some of the coolest movies around, from Twilight to Red Riding Hood. To get excited for the DVD release of Red Riding Hood on June 14 (side note: take a look at the brand new site, where you can pre-order the DVD and figure out which of Valerie’s hot-guy options are right for you!) CG! sat down with her to talk inspiration, fantasy movies, and of course, Edward Cullen!
CG: There’s a much darker, alternate ending to Red Riding Hood on the DVD. As a director, did you get attached to one particular ending?
CH: I like both endings! They’re very different. If I had it my way, I would have had one ending in one theater and one in another.
CG: What draws you to these dark, fantasy movies, like Twilight and Red Riding Hood?
CH: When I read the Twilight book, I didn’t see it as fantasy. I saw it as a love story. I really wanted to create that feeling of being madly in love with someone. With Red Riding Hood, there was whole different feel. Although there is that sense of falling in love, it’s different than Bella and Edward’s relationship. Valerie gets suspicions of the person she loves, which is a very real theme. Sometimes you’re looking at someone you love your whole love and think, “Could they have a secret?” Maybe you don’t think your boyfriend is a murder, but you’re wondering if he’s cheating behind your back!
CG: You were originally interested in casting Shiloh Fernandez as the role of Edward in Twilight. What made you go back to him for Red Riding Hood?
CH: I liked him when he did the auditions for Twilight, but Rob and Kristen had more chemistry, which is something you just can’t fake. I’ve always believed my leading lady should have a say in who plays opposite her. I wanted Amanda [Seyfried] to be very involved with the person she was supposed to be in love with on screen. We had a bunch of guys come in to read with Amanda, but her and Shiloh just hit it off best!

Summit Entertainment confirms ‘Breaking Dawn’ panel at Comic Con

Summit Entertainment has now confirmed the news via their twitter:

What Breaking Dawn tidbits can we expect from Comic Con next month?

Summit confirmed today that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part I, will have a panel at San Diego Comic Con next month. It leads us to wonder, what might we expect from the panel, and the film’s appearance at the con?
The Twilight cast haven’t made an official Twilight-related appearance at Comic Con since 2009 for New Moon (remember, Kristen Stewart was still rocking the Joan Jett mullet back then). Eclipse Con took it’s place last year, and now they make their big anticipated return to San Diego.
1) Twilight cast appearances. At the very least, assuming they are available, my guess is we’ll see Rob, Taylor and Kristen on a panel. Last year, there weren’t any other actors included in the panel, but in prior years, we have also had other cast (often times the bad guys — Cam Gigandet, Rachelle Lefevre, or promenant other characters — Ashley Greene in New Moon). And here is hoping that awkward and amusing dialog makes a showing as well. Example:
Kristen: I can’t wait to get pregnant.
Rob: I can’t wait to perform the Caesarean.
2) Exclusive clip(s). What footage would you like to see at the Con? I’m guessing we won’t get the main goodies (i.e. wedding, honeymoon action), so I am hoping more for interactions with Jacob, post-honeymoon. Something involving the Volturi, or perhaps the Cullen family would be fun to see.
3) Merchandise. New merchandise is usually revealed at SDCC. What goodies will we get this year? The majority of BD 1 revolves around the wedding and honeymoon, as well as the aftermath of the honeymoon. I’m not sure if I want aftermath images on a thermos. But I can guess we’ll see a number of romantic images available on t-shirts, as well as new figurines, magnets, etc.! Anyone else hoping for Edward’s bed-breaking back on a keychain? I’d buy that!
4) Fangirls (and, therefore, haters). The fans will definitely turn up, much to the chagrin of other attending guests. So you can expect large crowds of teens and TwiMoms alike, as well as long lines of camping women wearing Team Edward and Team Jacob tees. In addition, you might spot a few people donning their best Twilight costume.

5 Scenes from the Book That Would Make ‘Breaking Dawn’ an R-Rated Movie

Zimbio takes a look at some of the scenes in the Breaking Dawnbook that, if translated truthfully, would make for an R-rated film.
1. Breaking More Than Just Dawn
In the Twilight films so far we’ve watched Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart do little more than play footsy while the sexual tension just builds and builds. After a total of more than six hours of nothing but playful hints of sexuality, the audience needs the honeymoon scene almost as much as Bella and Edward do. Of course if they did show it, it would be very controversial, and not just for Rob’s blindingly white naked torso.
In the book, Bella describes the aftermath of the couple’s first night together.
I stared at my naked body in the full-length mirror behind the door.
I’d definitely had worse. There was a faint shadow across one of my cheekbones, and my lips were a little swollen, but other than that, my face was fine. The rest of me was decorated with patches of blue and purple.”
Ch. 5, pg. 75
Bella also woke up covered in down feathers because Edward “bit a pillow. Or two.” Of course the second time the two experience physical love there’s not so much bruising, but it would definitely take things to the next level to see Robert Pattinson do the damage described in Chapter Six. After realizing her night gown has been torn to tatters, Bella assesses the rest of the damage.
“Were there any other casualties?” I asked timidly.
“I’ll have to buy Esme a new bed frame,” he confessed, glancing over his shoulder. I followed his gaze and was shocked to see that large chunks of wood had apparently been gouged from the left side of the headboard.
Ch. 6, pg. 109

Breaking Dawn’ number 1 on HitFix Movie Power Rankings

With the release of the brand new Breaking Dawn trailer on Sunday, the film has hopped up to the top of the list of Movie Power Rankings from HitFix.
“Twilight” fans have had to wait almost a year for their Bella, Edward and Jacob fix.  “Eclipse” has come and gone and the final installment, “Breaking Dawn,” won’t hit theaters until November.  On Sunday night, however, the MTV Tween Awards, er, MTV Movie Awards brought millions of fans their first taste of the final chapter, er, second to last chapter in Stephenie Meyer’s saga by debuting the teaser trailer for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Pt. 1.”*
*Actually, the trailer leaked all over the web on Sunday afternoon breaking MTV’s exclusive because of a little mix up.  Whoopsie.
The reaction from fans has been uniformly positive and Summit is likely breathing easy as the novel that was once termed “un-adaptable” may turn out to be one of the better movies in the franchise.  Who knew?
See the full list of rankings here.

MTV Movie Awards: Top Five Moments You Didn’t See!

Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart Chest-Bump
We love it when the stars of our favorite films seem to be genuinely good friends both on and offscreen — especially when those real-life pals are two of our favorite “Twilight” actors, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. In between accepting and presenting awards, we watched Stewart and Lautner greet each other backstage with an actual chest bump, which they followed up with a friendly hug.
OMG, Celebs Are Totally BFF
Not all of the celebs in Hollywood are BFF à la Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, but because the rich and famous run in similar social circles, many are quite friendly with other. Often these celebrity friendships have sprung up unexpectedly. Case in point, all the palling around we saw backstage. First, Ryan Gosling and Tyrese hugging hello; Kristen Stewart and Lily Collins chatting about KStew’s dog; and pretty, leggy blondes Blake Lively and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley giggling like schoolgirls during a marathon catch-up session.

Dakota Fanning’s New Role? High School Graduate!

Congratulations to Dakota Fanning for graduating high school! Isn’t that incredible? It’s so easy to forget she’s really that young because of all the amazing work she’s done. Can you imagine Twilight‘s Jane graduating high school? North Hollywood’s Campbell Hall Episcopal High School, to be precise? Exactly. She looked so adorable wearing her blue cap and gown at the ceremony day before yesterday at Walt Disney Concert Hall in L.A, with the rest of her family, including sister Elle Fanning, cheered on. Let’s not forget that Dakota was crowned Homecoming Queen too, which goes to show that everyone thinks she’s pretty awesome as well (we’d have voted for her). Love her! Can’t wait for the Dakota Fanning: College Edition.

Ashley Greene Talks Fan Reactions to ‘Breaking Dawn’ Trailer

Does ‘Twilight’ domination help or hinder the MTV Movie Awards ratings?

The MTV Movie Awards may have seen a decline in the last couple of years, but is Twilight to blame? No! In fact, Twilight can be thanked for the fact that they don’t have even lower ratings.
The show hasn’t had any trouble attracting the Twilight phenomenon’s most ardent fans: teens. Among those viewers, Sunday’s Jason Sudeikis-hosted shindig posted its best ratings in seven years. And among everybody, the show was still a hit, finishing in sixth place in Nielsen’s latest cable rankings.
Eclipse, like Twilight and New Moon before it, was the big winner at Sunday’s show.
In fact, before the vampire series started dominating the popcorn-bucket game in 2009, the MTV Movie Awards had been on a six-year-long ratings losing streak. (The first time Pattinson and Stewart appeared on the show, in 2008, prior to the release of Twilight, the telecast bottomed out with a 21st-century-worst 3 million viewers.)
So, if anything, Twilight saved the MTV Movie Awards.

Nikki Reed’s Post Breaking Dawn Plans

Nikki Reed shared her exciting engagement news last weekend while attending the MTV movie awards. However, it looks like that isn’t the only life change Nikki is considering.
E online’s  Marc Malkin reports :
Reed also told me her post-Breaking Dawn plans don’t necessarily include moviemaking.
“I really want to do some theater and go back to school,” she said.
School?!
“I want to go back for back for business and marketing,” she explained. “I have a business-oriented mind and my brother is taking a marketing class right now and I think it’s something I really want to do.”

Rob’s Q&A With Lexpress

This a Google Translated:
Young English actor, star of Twilight takes the top billing in Water for Elephants. Cosmopolis Meanwhile, the next Cronenberg …
If you were a place… The South Bank in London. Between the Hayward Gallery, National Theatre and all other activities, I will not ever bother. I would also say New York for the breathtaking skyline formed by the buildings and the fast pace of the city, whatever time of day.
A cartoonist… Ralph Steadman, illustrator of texts delusional Highway Gonzo, Hunter S. Thompson. His line is simple and disturbed never leave me indifferent. The other reason is, perhaps, that I can draw almost like him!
A dish of childhood… The boiled eggs with salt on the side and toast at your fingertips. Inevitably, this makes me feel like Saturday, when my mother was preparing this dish. I’m a bit nostalgic for that period.
An animal… An elephant. It is an intelligent animal and soothing. On one incredible dexterity. I learned a lot from him while working on the film. I would also add the giraffe, since I had the opportunity to play with a baby giraffe barely bigger than me. Their black tongue surprised.
An era… I am a big fan of music and clothing style of the 1960s. Whether in England or the United States, while I like this period.
An album of music… It is difficult to choose one. I give you my top 5: Night Train Oscar Peterson, One Love by Bob Marley & The Wailers, Moondance, Van Morrison, Abbey Road, Beatles, and Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the Wu-Tang Clan. They tell me all their own way.
An artist… The cannonman at the circus. I like the risk. I love having the feeling of flying. Being a woman shaving I would not mind either. To avoid having to shave!
A book… Money, Money, Martin Amis. I read when I was 15, I read hundreds of times since and he continues to make me howl with laughter. Amis has managed to create a world that is both funny and biting. I’d love to play John Self, the hero depraved and without illusions he has created.
An essential garment… Without hesitation, the underwear: it’s really the only piece you need! Here and sunglasses, which are an accessory that I love! At home, I am constantly in that outfit.
A quote… “Mistakes are the doors of discovery”, by James Joyce. In a similar register: “A man, it can be destroyed but not defeated” by Ernest Hemingway. Both remind me that our biggest mistakes are the experiences that we learn the most. And gives hope to improve, everyone, the desire to live the next day, right?

Relativity Moves Snow White Three Months Before Universal Rival starring Kristen Stewart

BREAKING: Relativity Media has struck back in the ongoing competition of Snow White movies. Ryan Kavanaugh’s film shingle has pushed up its untitled Snow White project to March 16, 2012, from June 29. This comes days after Universal moved Snow White and the Huntsman up six months to June 1. I’m not sure that Uni can push forward any further. After all, you have to make the movie before you can release it. Relativity’s movie has Tarsem Singh directing Julia Roberts, Lily Collins and Armie Hammer, while Universal has Rupert Sanders directing Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth. Will both of these pictures actually make it into production under such high stakes? It sure looks that way. The one saving grace is that Universal’s film has a darker Alice in Wonderland tone, while Relativity’s seems to be an unabashed family film.

5 Most Memorable Ceremony Smooches!

Hollywood Crush was inspired to create a list of the most memorable smooches from awards ceremonies past!
3. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart
While Justin and Selena have been somewhat public about their relationship, Rob and Kristen have kept theirs strictly out of the public eye, which only intensified their will-they-won’t-they moment at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards when they won for—what else?—Best Kiss. The duo teased the audience until Rob finally planted a big fat smooch…we think. The angle made it hard to tell for certain.
