Via Twitter, Lefevre stated that the "[e]vent was amazing" and that it "made [her] grateful to be in the room with those [people]."
The purpose of the Independent Spirit Awards is "to champion the cause of independent film and support a community of artists who embody diversity, innovation, and uniqueness of vision."
Of course, Lefevre is no stranger to independent film work. When she started with Twilight - like the rest of the first-round cast - it was assumed that project would be independent, and Lefevre only recently filmed Barney's Version.
Lefevre has also exhibited quite the independent spirit by way of her continued involvement in charitable endeavors - ahead of most of her Twilight co-stars in that regard.
