Wyck Godfrey
TIME posited that Eclipse has created a window for the Twilight series films to welcome in a new, increasingly male audience what with the "noticeably more macho" trailers, a director - David Slade - who is famed for his male-friendly films in the past (who stated that the script for Eclipse "was a d**n good story"), and "tantalizing starlets like Kristen Stewart, Julia Jones and Nikki Reed."
While considerations, TIME explains, were made about the concept of having the wolves (including she-wolf "Leah Clearwater") remain tastefully nude for a sequence, nothing substantial was ever on the table for the changing.
"The most important thing in doing a book adaptation of a beloved series is, you have to make the movie work for the people who love the books," said the astute and historically very fan-friendly Wyck Godfrey. "We stick to the core of the books — and expand beyond that. But what you cannot do is change the story. People would kill you." Truer words, eh?
