The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' costume designer reveals set secrets

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Kimberley French/Summit Ent.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's costume designer Tish Monaghan has a new interview with Entertainment Weekly where she revealed some costuming secrets associated with the film.
Among the things Monaghan shared were the following: Robert Pattinson ("Edward Cullen") wore karate pants for the fight scene; Kellan Lutz ("Emmett Cullen") is purposefully dressed lighter to accentuate is muscles; Kristen Stewart ("Bella Swan") was originally scheduled to wear a bathing suit in the Renee/Florida scene, but Monaghan helped relieve her of that responsibility by pointing out the fact that it was cold; Catalina Sandino Moreno ("Maria") is "actually wearing [Jasper's] jacket and sash over her skirt"; Bryce Dallas Howard ("Victoria")'s wardrobe was given an extra-sensual kick, but was otherwise very similar to prior portrayals in Twilight and New Moon; the Cullens were dessed in blue and black while the newborns were given earthy tones so that they could be distinguished during the battle sequence; and one deleted scene fans might have to look forward to in Eclipse is more from Rosalie's backstory.
“I’m not sure why the scene with her floating down the hallway was cut out — maybe it’s because the element of surprise had a stronger impact. They didn’t want us to know in advance who was coming to the door. But we made a silk train for her that floated down the hallway as she kind of hydroplaned down the carpet. [Actress Nikki Reed] was mounted on a contraption, almost like a bicycle seat, and the camera was in front of her and to the side, and she just when whoooooooosh. She was rolled down the hallway at quite the speed and a fan would blow up her veil so that it was trailing behind her. It looked wonderful. The train itself was probably about 10 or 12 feet, and then the veil went beyond that.”
