Twilight' stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart named two of Vanity Fair's 'Top Moneymakers'

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart - AP Photo
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (co-stars in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) have been named by Vanity Fair as two of Hollywood's "Top 40 Moneymakers."
According to one source, "Although agents, lawyers, studio executives and even the stars themselves provided the deal numbers, calculating the earning power isn't always an exact science."
Still, the publication places Stewart at thirty-seventh place with $16 million in 2009. Pattinson was placed thirty-fifth with $18 million.
In 2009, the two filmed New Moon and  Eclipse together. Pattinson filmed Remember Me, and Kristen Stewart worked on The Runaways. Additionally, several of their projects were released last year, including Pattinson's Little Ashes and How To Be and Stewart's Adventureland. Both will also enjoy March releases for their summer 2009 projects, with Remember Me releasing on March 12th and The Runaways on March 19th.
The source also predicts that their Twilight series co-star Taylor Lautner will be one of the names on next year's list, saying "Who will we see on the list in 2011? Count on Twilight's Taylor Lautner to be here." Lautner has a slew of projects lined up, including Max Steel, Northern Lights, Cancun, and others. His film Valentine's Day releases February 12th.
The list will be contained in the March edition of Vanity Fair, which will be available across the country next Tuesday.

Twilight' star Kellan Lutz attends the premiere of 'Dear John'

Kellan Lutz - AP Photo
Yesterday, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Kellan Lutz ("Emmett Cullen") attended the premiere of Dear John (starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried).
Dear John, based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, was also viewed by Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer at the end of January. Meyer blogged about seeing the film, saying "I will confess, I cried" and "Amanda Seyfried is entrancing as always, and the chemistry (chemistry is always the crux of a movie for me) between [her and Channing Tatum] is lovely."
The premiere of the film took place in Los Angeles, and it was attended by Seyfried, Tatum, Jenna Dewan, Haylie Duff, director Adam Shankman, Alexa Vega, and Henry Thomas, among others.

'Twilight' and 'Up in the Air' star Anna Kendrick is now an Oscar nominee!

Anna Kendrick - AP Photo
Oh, this morning must be a wonderful one for Up In The Air star Anna Kendrick ("Jessica Stanley" in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse).
Just a few moments ago, the nominees for "Best Supporting Actress" for this year's Academy Awards were announced, and Kendrick was one of them!
To repeat: Anna Kendrick has been nominated for "Best Supporting Actress" for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards.
As predicted, Mo'Nique (Precious), Kendrick's co-star in Up In The Air Vera Farmiga, Penelope Cruz (Nine), and Maggie Gyllenhaal join Kendrick on the nominees list.
Kendrick's Oscar nomination adds to her SAG Award nomination, her Golden Globe nomination, her BAFTA nomination, and her Critic's Choice Award nomination, among others (as this year, it has been the season for recognition of this young lady's work).
Kendrick has been awarded the Palm Springs International Film Festival "Rising Star" Award, and she has also won the National Board of Review Award for "Best Actress."
Many have speculated that Kendrick would become an Oscar nominee for her work in Up In The Air, and, today, they have been proven correct. Her work in the film has been a thing of celebration for the film industry over the past few months, and it all boils down to one moment . . . Thanks to this morning's announcement, Anna Kendrick will potentially get to see hers on March 7th.
What an unbelievable accomplishment!
UPDATE: Anna Kendrick took to Twitter to respond to the nomination, saying "I'd love to say that 140 characters couldn't cover how I'm feeling right now but I'm honestly speechless :)"

Congrats Anna

'Twilight' and 'Remember Me' star Robert Pattinson to appear on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon'

Robert Pattinson - AP Photo
Apparently, Jimmy Fallon hasn't "bothered" The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Remember Me star Robert Pattinson all too much.
Gossip Cop has confirmed that Robert Pattinson will be appearing on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and that the appearance will most likely take place on either March 1st or March 2nd. Of course, March 1st is the date of the premiere for Remember Me, and Pattinson has already been confirmed for The View on March 2nd. If the premiere is March 1st, it is more likely, then, that Pattinson would show on Fallon on the 2nd.
Jimmy Fallon's show has been an interesting outlet when it comes to Robert Pattinson in the past. Over the course of a few months leading up to the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Fallon issued parody after parody in his "Bothered" series, where he impersonated Pattinson's portrayal of "Edward Cullen" in the Twilight series.
In the first, from last July, Fallon brought to life "Robert Pattinson in a tree" not "bothered" by Harry Potter, and, in the second (from August), he imitated Pattinson as "bothered" by Shark Week. In September, he issued a third wherein Pattinson was parodied as being "bothered" by Snickers candy bars.
Wonder if Fallon will brave it and bring "bothered" to this appearance!

Robert Pattinson talks about working with 'Remember Me' co-star Ruby Jerins

Robert Pattinson and Ruby Jerins in 'Remember Me' - Summit Ent.
Today, a third video from the "Ask Rob" series was released to the Remember Me facebook page, and, this time, it's Robert Pattinson talking about working with co-star Ruby Jerins.
Jerins portrays "Caroline," Pattinson's character ("Tyler")'s sister in the film.
Here's what Pattinson had to say about working with Jerins (who also works with Pattinson's The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse co-star Peter Facinelli in Nurse Jackie):
Ruby’s a very different type of actress, especially young actress, I suppose. Young as she is, she’s very very self-possessed. And a just really, a really unique girl. And I kind of … I was really sort of fascinated with her like right from the rehearsal stages, I just kind of … She’s one of those people you can just kind of watch, and you just … you’re not thinking. She immediately makes it, you’re not doing a scene anymore, you’re kind of just, you are just being, and it’s purely through her. She’s also a great improviser as well. If you try and throw her out of the scene, she always … she can always find her way back in. She stays 100% in character the whole time.
You can check out the full video at the Official Remember Me facebook page, as well as the first two in the "Ask Rob" series.

'Twilight' star Michael Welch to host concert for the homeless

Michael Welch in 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.
It has just been announced that The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Michael Welch will be hosting a special benefit concert in Los Angeles on March 2nd (at the Roxy) to help raise awareness for homelessness.
According to one source, Welch will be teaming up with Nashville band SHIROCK and other special guest celebrities to hold the concert, and the event will not be a ticket-based one. Instead, attendants are simply to bring clothing and cash donations for the local homeless population.
The band, SHIROCK, is debuting their new album entitled "Everything Burns," so the event is appropriately to be titled "Everything Burns in Hollywood." The specific charity being aided by the concert is the Midnight Mission.
Admission to the event is limited, so those interested in attending should email the organizers to gain VIP access. You'll just need to tell them how many are coming, any company you're with, and your name.

Professor gets popular using 'Twilight' references in psychology class

Edward and Bella in 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
If someone said that high school teachers were introducing Twilight into rudimentary subject material to make it more interesting for students, you might not be very surprised. How about college coursework?
Well, apparently one professor has made a name for herself in her local college community by utilizing popular social references in her psychology course . . . and Twilight has been a big part of it.
According to the Columbia Tribune:
By the time she got to the slides showing neurological patterns in various brains, Ines Segert had the 30-plus students in her behavioral science class hooked. Likely the photo of Bella and Edward — popular characters from the movie “Twilight” — piqued the young adults’ interest. Just seeing an image from the movie generated some laughs and murmurs of recognition from the students, who then took turns listing the symptoms of the chemical phenomenon known as love. “She didn’t care that he was a vampire,” one student offered, referring to Bella’s affection for her fanged beau. “Right. Willing to overlook flaws,” Segert summarized.
...
Segert, according to students who write anonymous comments on the Web site known as Rate My Professor, is “fabulous,” and her “teaching skills are awesome.”
...
Sure, the image of lovebirds Bella and Edward helped students understand the course material, but that’s what seems to work.
Interesting, huh? Think you'd perk up in psych class if the teacher connected synapses with New Moon? Seems smart to me!

Kristen and Anna in Vanity Fair

Kristen Stewart and Anna Kendrick are in Vanity Fair magazine.
They are part of Vanity Fair’s cover for their March issue along with other young Hollywood actresses.
Below is what they had to say about Kristen and Anna.
The pictures are very pretty!!!
See Behind the scene pics here.
At just 24, Anna Kendrick has already shown impressive range, from Bella Swan’s twit friend Jessica in the Twilight saga to George Clooney’s buttoned-up colleague in Up in the Air. At age 12, the Maine native was nominated for a Tony Award, for her role in the 1998 musical High Society. After she auditioned for the role of Natalie in Up in the Air, she thought she’d tanked, given director Jason Reitman’s utter non-reaction. Turned out he’d written the role for her, after having seen her in the small high-school film Rocket Science. Next, she’ll star with Michael Cera and Jason Schwartzman in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
In an era in which every teen star has a stylist and a bland pop record, 19-year-old Kristen Stewart is the tough-minded, no-frills anomaly. Stewart played Bella Swan not as a cartoon but as anxious and complicated—making the predicament of being torn between a vampire and a werewolf seem … well, almost plausible. The daughter of a television-producer father and an Australian script-supervisor mother, the L.A.-bred Stewart has been consistently drawn to melancholy over flash. Between Twilight installments, her edgy trajectory will continue with Welcome to the Rileys, about the friendship between a stripper and a married businessman, played by James Gandolfini, and The Runaways, about rocker Joan Jett.

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' predicted not to fare as well as 'New Moon' in the box office

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
A lot of people in the film industry have quite famously opined that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has a better chance of blowing up the 2010 box office by sheer temporal positioning than did The Twilight Saga: New Moon in 2009.
That is in part due to the fact that New Moon was the only one of the top ten biggest box office openings which did not debut during the summer.
So, for the most part, many have taken it as a given that Eclipse will probably outperform New Moon in this year's box office, but at least one source feels otherwise.
Here's what Box Office Mojo has to say on the issue:
Odds are that Eclipse won't reach the heights of New Moon, given the history of closely-timed, serialized sequels. The Matrix Revolutions, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and even Back to the Future Part III all grossed significantly less than their predecessors. When a second movie is hotly-anticipated after the first movie's success, it's highly unlikely that the next picture will even maintain the momentum (The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter being notable exceptions), and signs from New Moon's run suggest that The Twilight Saga will follow the pattern. New Moon had one of the biggest openings of all time, was extremely front-loaded and probably wasn't as well-liked as the first Twilight: Box Office Mojo readers gave it a "C+," compared to the first movie's "B." Also, the vampire fad could show fatigue by the summer, given the flood of vampire-themed TV shows, movies and paraphernalia in the market.
This is actually a really interesting matter (and not necessarily just because of the issues concerning The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn).
Twilight series fans have certainly proven their staying power over the past few years. The books started coming out roughly five years ago, and the buzz surrounding the series only grows deeper and more defined as time progresses.
BOM has made a good point here that New Moon's box office intakes were "front loaded," meaning a lot of Twilight fans went and saw it first thing and early on in the release, but didn't continue to see it as many over-and-over times as they might've with Twilight. That might not, however, be as crushing of a statistic as this opinion makes it out to be.
Perhaps, instead, you could point to the fact that the first film drew in a lot of the fanbase and that many of Twilight's viewers were newcomers to the series (who maybe went and saw it as a result of its grand opening numbers or the film's initial chatter). In that case, it wouldn't be very surprising that the New Moon viewership came out in a more timely manner.
Even with a front-loaded release, New Moon proved to be a big player in the box office game for 2009. So, the question is: will Eclipse bring in the same latitude of moviegoers as did New Moon?
With the variables pointed to by Box Office Mojo, there are certainly some sequel-related obstacles to consider, but do the historical figures associated with three-quels really apply to this series? Perhaps not. Perhaps the Twilight series likens more to LOTR and Harry Potter than Matrix.
There's at least one obvious similarity which would beckon such an opinion: the fact that they are all based upon book series which have a built-in and long-standing fanbase as opposed to being off-the-cuff continuances of a popular film series. So, yeah, maybe Eclipse follows upon New Moon rather closely in time - and this is not something that most films see success in doing - but there's hardly any chance that Twilight fans will take a rain check in seeing Eclipse in theaters, will they?
Another point to consider, and this is more against BOM's analysis than anything else, is the fact that a large amount of Twilight's audience consists of young adults. A summer release for this demographic would be helpful to them seeing the film (given that school wouldn't be in session).
While BOM certainly goes against the grain and raises some interesting points, it's not altogether convincing that Eclipse will not fare as well in the box office as New Moon.

'Twilight' series boosting sci-fi/fantasy sales in the U.K.

'Twilight' by Stephenie Meyer - Hatchette Books
Millions have read Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series books. That's a fact which has escaped the attention of no one . . . especially not within the publishing world.
According to the U.K.'s Telegraph, the Twilight series has been not only a boost to book sales at large but also to the particular genre of sci-fi/fantasy.
Researchers at Mintel found that almost one in three older children and teenagers enjoy sci-fi/fantasy books, up from 18 per cent in 2005. Overall, over one in ten readers go on to read a title after seeing the film or TV version.
...
"Britain's love of sci fi, in particular Twilight has contributed to a massive boom in sales of the sci fi literature, which is great news for the industry as it is encouraging the all important demographic of young readers back in to reading."
Of course, critics of the series who have suggested that the Twilight series does not have the effect of putting books back in the unlikely reader's hands would eat a little crow upon hearing this news, wouldn't they?
One would imagine (thanks to the use of common sense) that with all of the testimonies offered by Twilight fans as to how reading the series reinvigorated (or perhaps even began) their love of books and reading, that the series would inspire fans to explore other, similar literature. This information certainly serves to bolster that perception. . . . Go Twilight!
