The Gardener was the project that Weitz took up after New Moon, and it is currently filming in L.A.
According to the New York Times, though, things have been a little difficult for Weitz on the set. "In less than an hour, Mr. Weitz’s film crew had to contend with a crowing rooster, barking dogs, a musical ice cream truck, two helicopters and, just around the corner, eight police cruisers that showed up with a probation officer to cuff and remove a burly resident. None of it was in the script," they reported.
As the story goes, Weitz was content with his work in New Moon and openly considered it a step forward from The Golden Compass.
Now, it seems, he might be stepping away from the craft after this film is done.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the last movie I ever made,” Mr. Weitz insisted, as his 23rd day of shooting on locations in and around Los Angeles got under way last Thursday. “It’s all I have to say, for the moment.”
