'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' DVD - Summit Ent.
For starters, Chris Weitz (director) did an interview with FearNET recently where he talked about his process in adding commentary and conducting editorial trimming.
He revealed that commentary, to some, might just be an interruption of the film itself, but that he was sure that whoever would take the time to listen to it would be interested in his content. "Of course, they have the option of just turning us off, so I’d like to think that for the very few people who actually want to hear anything that I have to say about the movie, we’re there for them," he said of himself and editor Peter Lambert (who will be appearing on the commentary track with him).
He also talked about the fact that cutting was a bit difficult, at times, because we vehement fans would gladly sit through a three hour movie rather than see a moment cut from any given scene (other than, perhaps, "butt crack Santa").
"[I]t’s very difficult to talk about cutting any scene with Edward or Taylor because I know that the fans can’t imagine why you wouldn’t have a three-hour version of the movie. So I have to be very diplomatic and careful as to how I explain how a certain scene was cut a certain way in order for the flow of the story. To a lot of Twilight fans, less is never more," he acutely stated.
Very true.
In addition to Weitz's words, there is also a new clip of footage from the DVD's behind-the-scenes footage that MTV presented. It shows a bit of what filming for one of Taylor Lautner's scenes looked like.
