A couple of days ago, the news came out that Vampire Weekend was suffering a bit of Twitter-based backlash from their fans for being a part of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's soundtrack.
Then, last night on The Colbert Report, the band merrily referred to the series (and star Robert Pattinson).
Commenters on the prior article suggested that the negativity being sent Vampire Weekend's way was out of line and a result, to quote one contributor, of simply "spread[ing] negativity."
Well, it seems that Muse has a little something to say about the issue from their end as well.
Responding to an inquiry about their involvement in the Twilight series soundtracks (having contributed songs to Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and, most recently, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), Muse's Matthew Bellamy told The Daily Record, "Of course it doesn't matter we have gained fans because of Twilight and that might seem to be uncool. That doesn't bother me at all. As a band you are represented everywhere. We also have a gig for Guitar Hero, of all things . . . It's great to be involved and it's so much fun. I like the movies a lot. They're really good and we hope to continue with this and do another song."
