Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart 40 Top Moneymakers of 2009

Cah ching!  Twilight Saga’s  Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson made it amongst some heavy hitters in Vanity Fair’s list of  Top Moneymakers of 2009.  Here’s how it’s broken down.
So how do we tote up our final earnings estimates? A few simple ground rules:
In tabulating up-front fees, we assume people get paid when filming starts; thus, only movies that commenced shooting in calendar year 2009 are taken into account. (That’s why we don’t count Brad Pitt’s $10 million fee for Inglourious Basterds, which began shooting in 2008.)
For those lucky enough to earn money on the back end, we did our best to determine whether they were gross-point or net-point players and applied our math accordingly. (Example: Pitt’s fee for Inglourious Basterds was an advance against 9 percent of the gross. With some $160 million in studio revenue, Pitt stood to collect a total of almost $14.5 million, minus his $10 million advance, leaving him with $4.5 million from the film for 2009.)
A star’s participation in DVD sales is taken into account, but that generally is small change, unless he or she is one of the few director-producer types who have negotiated exceptional deals. We have not counted royalties and other revenues when the figure is under $500,000. Nor have we counted money made in television; thus, for a major player in both film and TV such as Jerry Bruckheimer, his total 2009 earnings are millions of dollars higher. Since these numbers are estimates, however well informed, and by definition incomplete, they are presented for entertainment purposes only.
Here’s how much cashola our favorite couple raked in for 2009:

#35 Robert Pattinson

(WME)
Estimated 2009 earnings: $18 million
$7.5 million: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (fee for starring in upcoming third installment of vampire franchise)
$5 million: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (fee for starring in second installment)
$4 million: Remember Me (fee for actually starring in a non-Twilight film)
$1.5 million: New Moon (back end, based on worldwide gross of $661 million)

#37 Kristen Stewart

(Gersh)
Estimated 2009 earnings: $16 million
$7.5 million: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (fee for starring)
$5 million: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (fee for starring)
$2 million: The Runaways(for starring in upcoming Joan Jett biopic)
$1.5 million: New Moon (back end)

Examiner Bio 'Twilight' stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning helping Haiti

In an effort to do their part for the relief of victims of the Haiti earthquake disaster, The Runaways stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning (who also work together in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) are participating in a charity auction run called the "Heal Haiti Charitybuzz Auction."
To participate, the two signed a snowboard (alongside other celebrities) which has gone up for bidding at Charitybuzz.
The specific charity being aided by this particular item is the American Red Cross Haitian Relief Fund, according to Look to the Stars.
This isn't the first time Kristen Stewart has gotten involved in Haiti relief efforts. When promoting Welcome To The Rileys at Sundance, Stewart also helped to raise a few thousand dollars for the cause.
The two join many of their Twilight series co-stars in their Haiti relief efforts, including Anna Kendrick, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Rachelle Lefevre, who all participated in "Hope for Haiti." Both Stewart and Fanning were at the Sundance Film Festival (promoting The Runaways) during the telethon, so they were unable to participate, but it's great to see them do what they can!

Two films by 'Twilight' stars to appear at SxSW

'The Runaways'
Two films done by  The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse stars are headed to SxSW (South by Southwest), a film festival that takes place this March.
According to Larry Richman with Pro Networks, both The Runaways (with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning) and The Loved Ones (with Xavier Samuel) were selected for the conference.
The Runaways is one of the festival's "headliner" films, and Richman's review of the film is available here. The Runaways was featured just recently at the Sundance Film Festival as well. The film chronicles the rise and fall of the groundbreaking all-girl band of the same name (led by Joan Jett and Cherie Currie).
The Loved Ones is listed as a "Midnighter," and Richman's review of that film is available here. The Loved Ones was also featured at the Toronto International Film Festival last September.
The film's description on IMDb is as follows:
In order to avoid a ghostly figure in the road, high school senior Brent Mitchell wraps his car around a tree, killing his father. Constantly confronted by his mother's emotional collapse after the accident, Brent escapes into a marijuana fueled world of loud metal music to block the pain and guilt. Dejected and out of sorts, he has a shot at happiness with his girlfriend Holly, a grounded, caring girl with drop dead good looks, a dream date for the high school prom. But his plans are thwarted by a disturbing series of events that take place under a mirrored disco ball, involving pink satin, glitter, syringes, nails, power drills and a secret admirer. Brent has become the prom king at a macabre, sadistic event where he is the entertainment.
SxSW takes place from March 12th to March 20th in Austin, Texas. Just recently it was announced that Twilight soundtrack contributor Bobby Long would also be appearing as a musical guest for the conference's music show.

New information on Kiowa Gordon's 'Into the Darkness'

Kiowa Gordon & Dalal Bruchmann in 'Into the Darkness' - Moser Prod.
A few new updates on Kiowa Gordon ("Embry Call" in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse)'s Into The Darkness, which begins filming in about three months, have just come to the surface.
For starters, a new castmate for the film has just been announced: Jessica Andres as "Stacy" (Andres worked with Jackson Rathbone in The Last Airbender).
Additionally, a couple of new photographs from the film have been released, including this one of Kiowa Gordon (as "Brad") with Dalal Bruchmann ("Katelyn").
Just last November, the first pitch trailer for the film was released, and, since it was filmed, there have been a number of images released by the studio, Moser Productions, including character images, still frames (here and here), and a poster.
Gordon and his castmates in the picture (Wolfgang J. Weber, Anna Enger, Bruchmann, and Russ Russo) shot the pitch trailer last year in the caves of Tennessee, and the location for filming is expected to resume there this spring.
The film's description is as follows:
A group of friends descend upon a remote wilderness area to camp and party reuniting after a year apart. Their decision to embark on a short exploration of an unknown cave system turns into a horrific struggle for survival. Can they find the light before the darkness finds them?

'New Moon' soundtrack contributor Muse thanks 'Twilight' for U.S. popularity

Muse on 'Saturday Night Live'
Everyone knows the story of how British superstar band Muse became so involved with the Twilight saga.
Stephenie Meyer (series author) credited the band for their continuous inspiration to her creative process in writing the Twilight series books, and, when the film was finally coming to fruition, the band was approached about the connection and offered a place upon the album.
In returning for the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Muse was very gracious to fans of the saga, assuring them of the band's interest in being a part of the soundtrack for the third film, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Of course, Muse had no trouble in making a name for themselves globally, but they recently gave deference to their participation in the Twilight saga for some of the headway they've made in popularity within the United States.
In an interview with Asia One (brought forth by WTAM 100), bassist Chris Wolstenholme said, "I was vaguely aware of the books, but we didn't think anything of it at the time. The next thing you know, it's Twilight fever. It's good because it has made a difference for us in trying to break into America."
Muse was featured on the Twilight soundtrack for "Supermassive Black Hole" and on the New Moon soundtrack for "I Belong to You."

'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson helping Hawaiian schools

You've gotta hand it to Robert Pattinson for being a charitable guy. It has just been announced that Pattinson ("Edward Cullen" in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and "Tyler" in Remember Me) is pitching in for a local Hawaiian Montessori school fundraising drive by donating autographed posters and a Twilight book for the Montessori Hale O Keiki’s annual fundraising gala, "The Orchid Ball."
Pattinson's signed gear will go up for auction at "The Orchid Ball" on February 5th, and it appears that proceeds will go to benefit the local Montessori school program.
Nice guy, huh?
You might remember some of Pattinson's other charitable contributions of late. Last spring, Pattinson auctioned off a smooch for AMFAR (while promoting Remember Me at Cannes), and only recently, Pattinson presented for George Clooney's famed "Hope for Haiti" telethon (in London, England) with the following speech:
Underneath a flattened university, Maxine Fallon waited. She was crouched in a fetal position and could barely move. In the darkness and during the hectic sounds of the day, through the pain, the hunger and thirst, she prayed that someone would find her. And on the sixth day her prayers were answered, she was found because of a text message from the rubble sent rescuers to her side. Unlike any other event in history, our world has been connected to this tragedy because of technology. Twitter updates, Facebook pages with pictures of the missing and text messages for help. This technology is working right now to connect us, too. At hopeforhaitinow.org, you can donate and you can instantly interact with people in Haiti and anywhere in the globe. Join with those watching and see what they're saying about something we all care deeply about — helping the Haitian people get back on their feet. Please go to hopeforhaitinow.org. Thank you.
It seems that many of the Twilight cast members have grown a very charitable bone, and even little things like this make a huge difference. The more the merrier, right?
Props to Pattinson for pitching in.

Hurricane Bells release their 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' song video

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' OST - Summit Ent./Atlantic Records
Just released is the music video for Hurricane Bells' "Monsters," a song which was featured on the official soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Unlike some of the other New Moon contributors' videos, there is no tie-in to the film (i.e., clips of the movie), but it is interesting to see the director's vision for the song as compared with the song's placement in the film.
Steve Schiltz, frontman for the band, had this to say about being on the New Moon soundtrack. "The track was a little too heavy and I left it off the record, it was like a bonus track. Back in July, I gave it to my publishers and when they told me it has been taken for the movie I was like wow and then it changed everything."
He noted that the biggest change, so far, has been his financial capacity to make more music. "It just happened and this was the biggest thing but it just got me the money to make more music and didn't make a major impact on my music. All it really means is I am getting enough time and money to make another record."
