Julia Jones Goes Barefoot For ‘One Day Without Shoes’

Julia Jones (aka Leah Clearwater) went barefoot on the beach to support a worthy cause, One Day Without Shoes,  on April 8th.
Toms Shoes, the company that donates one pair of shoes to needy children around the globe for every pair of shoes they sell, asked friends to go barefoot on the beach to raise awareness for the cause.
On Thursday, Toms founder Blake Mycoskie left his slip-ons at home to mark the third year of One Day Without Shoes and asked friends, including actresses Olivia Wilde (“House”) and Julia Jones (“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”), to shed their heels at Axe restaurant and walk down Abbot Kinney to his sister Paige’s Aviator Nation boutique. The point is to drive home the message of what it would be like to spend a day barefoot as many people around the world do when they lack the means to purchase a pair.
According to Toms’ website, more than a quarter of a million people participated in 1,600 One Day Without Shoes events around the world, including the one here.
Mycoskie had biked to the office that morning wearing no shoes and had cut his foot within the first 45 minutes. “One Day without Shoes is to realize the importance of going without,” he said.
“It feels great to go without shoes, but it’s only for a day,” said Wilde, who’s about to start shooting “Cowboys and Aliens” with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. “It’s a brilliant way to raise awareness of children in developing countries and put yourself in someone’s shoes for a few hours.”
Wonderful cause!   Julia is just the best.  What a beautiful person…inside and out.

Bill Condon for Breaking Dawn?

FearNet has an article up stating Why they think Bill Condon Could Be Good for Breaking Dawn.
Check out the article here.
Remember, Summit has still not confirmed a director for the movie!
Here is an excerpt:

Genre Experience

While Condon is best known for his more recent Oscar-caliber work (see above), a look back in his filmography reveals a surprising knack for genre fare that one might not otherwise expect from the man behind Chicago and Dreamgirls. After a career stint as a journalist, Condon entered showbiz as the screenwriter of 1981’s low-budget horror spoof Strange Behavior (AKA Dead Kids), an Illinois-set Ozsploitation flick followed by a sci-fi sequel, Strange Invaders. He made his directorial debut a few years later with the 1987 Gothic thriller Sister, Sister and in 1995 helmed Candyman 2: Farewell to the Flesh (the one that reveals the Candyman’s tragic origin story, involving a lynch mob, honey, and a swarm of bees).
A few years later, Condon left behind the horror fare to begin his better known period, starting with the critically-acclaimed Gods and Monsters — a biopic of horror director James Whale (Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein). That film demonstrated Condon’s knowledge of the horror genre and his ability to infuse it with humanistic storytelling, which will be key in adapting Breaking Dawn, a story that balances Bella Swan’s involvement in the vampire and werewolf worlds with themes of marriage, family, and romance.

Julia Jones Meet The Amazing Race

Fans of the shoe The Amazing Race may remember a brother and sister team from a few years ago, Blake and Paige. At teh time Blake was a recent college grad and budding entrepenuer. Their time in the race made Blake more aware of third world poverty and how in many nations children had no shoes. So he started a company to get shoes to the kids who didn’t have them and now he’s asking celebrity friends to help with the cause.
The LA Times reports:
“Toms Shoes, the company that donates one pair of shoes to needy children around the globe for every pair of shoes they sell, asked friends to go barefoot on the beach to raise awareness for the cause.
The point is to drive home the message of what it would be like to spend a day barefoot as many people around the world do when they lack the means to purchase a pair.”

FearNet: Why Bill Condon Could Be Good For Breaking Dawn

Bill-Condonsolo
Jen Yamato from FearNet analyzes why Bill Condon could be the best thing for the Twilight franchise.
“Though it’s not yet official, this week’s news that Dreamgirls director Bill Condon has pulled into the lead to direct the remaining two films in the Twilight franchise has given us plenty of food for thought. What makes the Oscar-winning razzle-dazzle specialist a shoe-in to direct Breaking Dawn over other rumored contenders Sofia Coppola and Gus Van Sant?
Oscar Cred
Catherine Hardwicke had indie film respect (Twilight), Chris Weitz had slick CG epic filmmaking under his belt (New Moon), and David Slade seemed like a perfect genre director to bring the franchise into horror-thriller territory (Eclipse). But while each of the previous Twilight Saga directors has been well-suited to their respective adaptations in different ways, Condon brings with him a very important element that could help the franchise go out with a bang: his shiny Academy Award statuette, won in 1999 for writing the horror-related flick Gods and Monsters.
Condon notched another Oscar nomination for scripting 2002’s Chicago, the film musical that effectively relaunched the musical genre in modern-day Hollywood. And even when he didn’t directly receive Oscar nods or wins, his films have (Dreamgirls earned eight nominations and won two Academy Awards; Kinsey earned one nomination; and Gods and Monsters earned actors Ian McKellen and Lynn Redgrave their own respective nods). He also co-produced the 2009 Academy Awards telecast — which, if we all recall, wasn’t that well-received, but hey — it’s the Oscars!”

JACKSON RATHBONE TALKS DREAD AND WHY HE LIKES JASPER

The New York Post’s Pop Wrap has a new interview with Jackson Rathbone where he talks about the unsettling nature of Dread, playing different characters and why he likes Jasper. Read more below:
PW: Seems like music is a common theme on your sets — the “Twilight” cast is all pretty musical as well, right? Jackson: Oh yeah, we have a lot of musicians in the cast – it’s fun, we’d have Cullen Family Jam Band Sessions in the hotel. Sit around, play harmonica and work on some songs. We’d help Rob [Pattinson] out with songs he was working on, they’d help with songs I was working on, Nikki [Reed] and I would write song together and Kristen [Stewart] would play a bit too.
PW: You seem to jump around with your films and characters — never sticking with one genre for too long. Is that kind of the plan?
Jackson: Absolutely. I want to spread my wings and play as many different characters as possible. Growing up, in the theater, I always played these out-there characters, I was never the leading man. Honestly, I find it a little more boring than playing the psycho or bad guy antagonist. It’s something I’ve always tried to go for. I try to change my look, my walk, my talk in every single person I play. It’s important to me as an actor not to get pigeonholed.
PW: So is it difficult then to play Jasper over the course of five films?
Jackson: The thing I like about Jasper’s arc is that it’s very developed — you don’t know much about him in the first film. He’s always in pain but don’t know why, until the second film, when you realize that he’s the newest to the family and he’s basically dying of hunger. It’s very difficult to live that vampryic lifestyle. So he’s having trouble adjusting. In the third film, we get to seeJasper’s backstory – see who he used to be and why he’s having such a hard time transitioning.
PW: So “Eclipse” will flashback to his time in The Civil War?
Jackson:Yeah. We do a little segue/backstory in “Eclipse”,when he was turned during the Civil War. We get to see his more aggressive tendencies. When you’re first turned into a vampire, that’s when you’re at your most ravenous, most vicious – so you seeJasper go through that. It was a lot of fun to bring out the darker side of Jasper that he’s been holding back.
