Chris Interview

FearNet has an interview with Chris Weitz.
Read it all here.
Here is an excerpt:
FEARnet: Listening to the commentary during the scene where Edward makes his speech about Romero & Juliet in school, you said that you should probably shut up and just let Robert Pattinson talk. But what was your actual approach when you came in to produce the bonus materials on this DVD and Blu-ray, given the fact that although you were joking that might partially be true?
Chris Weitz: Well, it’s funny because it’s very difficult to talk about cutting any scene with Edward or Taylor because I know that the fans can’t imagine why you wouldn’t have a three-hour version of the movie. So I have to be very diplomatic and careful as to how I explain how a certain scene was cut a certain way in order for the flow of the story. To a lot of Twilight fans, less is never more. So it’s funny that when [editor] Peter Lambert I’m doing the commentary, it’s like a couple of old guys interrupting the viewing of the movie. But of course, they have the option of just turning us off, so I’d like to think that for the very few people who actually want to hear anything that I have to say about the movie, we’re there for them.

Twilight' stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, and Taylor Lautner attend 'The Runaways' premiere

Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart - AP Photo
Tonight, Twilight series co-stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning hit the red carpet for their much-acclaimed project The Runaways in Los Angeles.
Tonight's was the second major premiere for this movie after its January showing at the Sundance Film Festival.
Stewart and Fanning weren't the only The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse stars at the event.
Taylor Lautner, too, made his way down the night's red carpet.
Stewart previously attended the premiere for co-star Robert Pattinson's Remember Me, and with Lautner's showing at The Runaways', it seems that these three Twilight stars really are starting to show some serious support for eachother's work outside of the Saga.
Also present at the premiere were Joan Jett, Cherie Currie, and Michael Shannon.
The Runaways hits theaters on March 19th, and has earned both Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning a lot of great buzz in the general film community.

Comparing the 3 Twilight Trailers

Moviefone has an article comparing the Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse Trailers.
They have this checklist they cam up with.
Check it all out here.
Here is a little excerpt:
Each trailer includes sweeping shots of the Pacific Northwest (Oh, was this filmed on location?), faux-sexual tension between the leads illustrated with a shot of Edward getting all up in Bella’s grill (so to speak), and piano music transitioning into thumping bass to introduce the supernatural (thanks, ‘Harry Potter’ trailers).

Kristen Stewart says 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' trailer 'looks good'

Kristen Stewart in 'Eclipse' trailer screencap
The trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has been out for less than a day, and already at least two Twilight stars (two that actually appear in the trailer, by the way) have made statements about their opinions on the third Twilight film's trailer.
Here's what Kristen Stewart ("Bella Swan") had to say about it:
"Well, it's really fast, isn't it? It's sort of like a couple of pictures strung together. But it looks good – it looks good!" she told Cinematical's Todd Gilchrist. "Taylor looks really great . . . He's good in it."
Daniel Cudmore ("Felix"), too, was radiating positive vibes from his Twitter page about the trailer.
"The Eclipse trailer is kick*ss, and that stunt across the ravine is sick!"
Fan reactions to the trailer, thus far, have been pretty positive. Of course, there are some issues that have been hitting home with fans, but for the most part everyone seems pleasantly surprised by the product.

Fearnet Interviews Chris Weitz

chris-weitz-new-moon
Fearnet has a great interview with New Moon director Chris Weitz where he talks about the commentary for the DVD and some of the choices that were made in the process of film making.  Chris had this to say about adapting a book to a movie in relation to the “months” passage of the book:
I think that the passage of time was an open opportunity for us to take something that was a literary device that works rather nicely in the book and turn it into a kind of elegant visual effects shot that doesn’t necessarily seem like a very CGI-intensive shot, but it in fact was very labor-intensive and was done over the course of half of a year. The elements that go into it, it has to be shot in numerous passes in order to get the various seasons outside the window and all of that kind of thing, and I always knew this would be a really interesting way to use a motion-control camera to show the passage of time. So that I saw as an opportunity to expand upon what was in the book.

NPR reads Twilight… Seriously

We got a PM from James at Ideal Living that NPR’s Monkey See “I will if you will” readers choice is “Twilight.”  They poked fun at the Eclipse teaser for the trailer a few days ago and got the idea from one of their twitter followers that maybe they should actually read the books, at least one of them, to find out what all the fuss is about.  They tweeted about the possibility and got a surprisingly positive response.  So they went for it.
“There are several reasons to do this. One is curiosity. Another is just tasting what’s in the water in the culture you’re living in. If you fear it will be bad, consider the fact that if the book is actually bad, you can say the book is bad and actually know what you’re talking about, instead of relying on the many other people who say the book is bad. If you’re going to crack on it, you might as well have something informed to say. Another is that if the book is 90 percent bad and 10 percent good, you will be surprised by the 10 percent.”
There are rules involved, including the one where they ask that those of us who have already read the book and might get upset by people not liking the book, they ask that we steer clear of their discussion.  So folks, no hating on NPR if they don’t like the book!  Personally, I want to applaud them for just giving it a try, something I know so many people are not willing to do.  You may be pleased to know that they have another rule that says their readers really do have to give the book a chance and not just spout hate for the fandom.
They have a week to read and will discuss their findings on March 22.  We will be checking back with NPR to see what their final verdict is, although given the comments on their blog, I’m guessing that many will be entertained by the story even if they don’t find the writing to be divine.  Visit their blog for all the details.

The Runaways LA Premiere

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning joined the rest of their cast as well as Joan Jett and Cheri Currie for the premiere of “The Runaways” in LA last night.  Even Taylor Lautner showed up to lend his support.  The Examiner has a slide show of pictures from the premiere and WonderWall has an interesting write up about the evening’s festivities.

Kristen Stewart Reacts to Eclipse Trailer

Cinematical interviewed Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning for their film The Runaways.  While in the interview the two were asked about the Eclipse trailer.  While Dakota hadn’t seen it yet, Kristen had and said that she liked it.
“I think Taylor [Lautner] looks really great. Like, he looks very strong and I love his voice in it,” she said.

Mattel Apology for Tattoo Mistake

jacobbarbieoops2
As we reported last week thanks to John Henson, the tattoo on the Barbie version of Jacob Black is upside down!  Word must have spread to Mattel and they have issued this statement in regards to the situation.
Twilight fans! As you may have heard, Mattel’s heartthrob Jacob doll’s iconic tribal tattoo is upside down on a portion of the total dolls produced. Mattel apologizes for the mistake in production and is working to rectify the situation. If you purchased a Jacob doll with an upside down tattoo and wish to replace your doll with an accurately represented tattoo, please call Mattel customer service at 1-800-524-8697 for more information or 1-800-491-7514 if you purchased your doll directly from Barbie Collector.
Of course, as one of our readers pointed out, it might be cool to keep the doll with the mistake as a collector’s item since we assume that Mattel will correct the mistake and all future dolls will have the correct tattoo.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon' Jacob Black Barbie doll exchanges being offered for misprints

Jacob Black Barbie Doll - Mattel
A couple of weeks ago, Twilight Lexicon broke the story (in conjunction with John Henson) that the newest The Twilight Saga: New Moon Barbie doll, that of Jacob Black, was flawed.
They pointed out a mistake in the design of Jacob's tattoo on the doll: it's upside-down.
The Quileute wolf tattoo worn by the actors in the film faced one way, and the doll's tattoo was 180 degrees off.
So, Mattel is correcting the problem on Jacob Black Barbie dolls and has issued an official statement about how patrons can get a doll with a right-side-up tattoo.
Twilight fans! As you may have heard, Mattel's heartthrob Jacob doll's iconic tribal tattoo is upside down on a portion of the total dolls produced.
Of course, if you're one of those who got your hands on an upside-down tattoo-ed Jacob Black doll, you might want to at least consider keeping it as is . . . after all, it may very well be a collector's item at some point down the road. Just food for thought.

Kristen Stewart Reacts to the First Official ‘Eclipse’ Trailer!

As you already know — the first official Eclipse trailer was released yesterday morning (how many times have you watched it?!?!). Cinematical.com interviewed Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in promotion of their new film The Runaways. When asked about the Eclipse trailer, Dakota hadn’t seen it yet, but Kristen did -
When I asked if either of them got to see the trailer, Stewart and Fanning turned to one another for reactions. “Did you watch it?” Stewart asked Fanning.
“No, I didn’t,” Fanning replied. “I watched it,” Stewart said with enthusiasm. When I prodded her for specific feelings, she said, “Well, it’s really fast, isn’t it? It’s sort of like a couple of pictures strung together. But it looks good – it looks good! I think Taylor [Lautner] looks really great. Like, he looks very strong and I love his voice in it,” she said. “He’s good in it.”

Possible Breaking Dawn Confirmation?

As previously posted, The Twilight Saga:Eclipse site has now been launched.  While browsing the site I clicked on Enter the World of Twilight that’s when I was redirected to NewMoontheMovie.com and look what’s at the top right of the screen!
As you can see Breaking Dawn is clearly greyed out, but if you put your cursor over it, it says coming soon!  So what do you all think?  Is this confirmation?

The Reelz Channel’s Scene-By-Scene Review of the ‘Eclipse’ Trailer

The Reelz Channel has given their scene-by-scene review of the newly released (and first official) Eclipse trailer that we all first saw this morning! They talk about everything from Bryce as Victoria, to that shiny thing on Bella’s finger -
The Eclipse teaser trailer opens with a dark and brooding Summit logo, which ties in nicely with the official movie logo shown at the end. See the little eclipse peeping over the Summit mountain? That’s clever. And ominous.
Fifteen seconds in, after a sweeping view of the Forks landscape, Bella and Edward appear lying in a beautiful meadow. Robert Pattinson’s Edward voiceover states “Isabella Swan, I promise to love you every moment, forever.” Cue swooning fangirls at the sound of his deep, velvety voice.
Fade to a close-up of the lovebirds now standing in said meadow, holding onto each other as if the world is coming to an end. (Well, it is, isn’t it? Nasty vampires are on their way). Bella looks like she’s wearing a shiny silver engagement ring, and Edward’s Cullen Crest wristband is present. It’s like a new range of His ‘n’ Hers, Twilight style.
Remember those badass vampires we mentioned? Well, here they are. Say hello to the Volturi — Italy’s finest.
Volturi Jane wastes no time telling Bella and Edward exactly what thinks. “She’s still human. The Volturi don’t give second chances.” Isn’t that what Caius said in New Moon? I would have thought the Volturi were above repetition, seeing as they’re so frightening. And threatening. Quick, Edward — run away!
They don’t run — that’s not the vampire way. Instead, they stand there looking pensive. With Edward’s funny, flat hair and uber-pale skin. Has Rob Pattinson’s self-styling ways rubbed off on his super-smooth alter-ego?
You can check out the rest of their review here!
