Add M. Night Shyamalan to the Breaking Dawn Director Pile

MKnight
At first the list included Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola, and Bill Condon discovered by Hollywood insider Nikkie Finke who writes for Deadline Hollywood. Then the name Stephen Daldry surfaced discovered by the LA Times. Right after that MTV (there seems to be a pattern here, you’ll see in a minute) asked The Runaways director, Floria Sigismondi, if she were interested and she gave a polite and non-committal answer.
Now enter M. Night Shyamalan, director of the upcoming The Last Airbender that stars Jackson Rathbone. MTV put the question to him, and to our surprise M. Knight (can we call him just Knight?) was a apparently fan of the first movie…who knew?
“”I would’ve loved to be– I love the series, and Catherine [Hardwicke's] movie, it was one of my favorite movies of that year,” he said. “Really, I thought tonally, it was a perfect movie. I called her up after I saw ‘Twilight’ and was like ‘That was amazing.’ So I’m a big fan.”

Twilight Saga Premiere Theaters Saved!

braunmann
According to The Hollywood Reporter the classic art deco theaters that are across the street from each other have been saved from closure. The theaters are home to multiple premieres and can each seat well over 1,000 patrons. Twilight Saga movie fans know them because the redcarpet for both Twilight and New Moon took up almost the entire city block that runs between the theaters.
“The landmark mono-screens in L.A.’s Westwood section — founded in 1931 and 1937, respectively — have been operated for the past few decades by Mann Theatres, which had tagged them for closure. But regional theater operator Regency Theatres said Tuesday that it has agreed to take over the properties on unspecified terms starting Thursday.
Mann’s lease on the theaters expires Wednesday, though the circuit intended to continue to operate the venues on a month-to-month basis.
“We are excited to be adding the iconic Village and Bruin theaters to the Regency family of theaters,” Regency president Lyndon Golin said. “These celebrated movie houses have been landmarks in Los Angeles since the 1930s, and we plan to extend their legacy far into the future.”‘
See more at the Hollywood Reporter.
There is no word on whether the Eclipse premiere is taking place at these theaters, or the date of the premiere. Given that up until today they were slated for closure, it would not surprise us if another venue has been sought for the Eclipse premiere.

Stephenie Meyer Talks About Bree Tanner on Her Website

jodelleBreeBurn
Aside from today’s press release ( see the entry below) announcing that there would be a novella covering the story of Bree (now Bree Tanner, she has a last name…who knew!) the newborn from Eclipse, Stephenie has provided a TON of extra details not covered in the press release on her website. Highlights below, but get over to StephenieMeyer.com to read the whole thing.
  • The novella started as a writing exercise back when Eclipse was being edited
  • Originally it was intended for the Official Guide, but it ended up as 200 pages and that just wasn’t going to work size-wise
  • There will be further word on the Official Guide by the end of the year
  • Melissa Rosenberg, David Slade, and Jodelle Ferland got to peek at Bree’s story so aspects of it could be included in the Eclipse movie.
  • Jodelle had to burn her copy after reading it for security (see picture).
  • The novel will be available in both a free form online at the website BreeTanner.com and as a hard cover book with$1.00 of the proceeds from each book going to the American Red Cross to assist aiding the earthquake victims of Chile and Haiti.

FOR INTERNATIONAL RELIEF EFFORTS
NEW YORK, NY (March 30, 2010) – Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group, has announced today that it will release the first new title from Stephenie Meyer in nearly two years. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is a novella told from the point of view of Bree, a character originally featured in Eclipse. The novella (at 192 pages) will be released at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in hardcover for $13.99 with a first printing of 1.5 million copies. One dollar for each book sold in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which supports disaster relief efforts such as those in Haiti and Chile.*
“I’m as surprised as anyone about this novella,” said Stephenie Meyer. “When I began working on it in 2005, it was simply an exercise to help me examine the other side of Eclipse, which I was editing at the time. I thought it might end up as a short story that I could include on my website. Then, when work started on The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, I thought the Guide would be a good fit for my Bree story. However, the story grew longer than I anticipated, until it was too long to fit into the Guide.”
As a special thank you to fans, Meyer is giving them exclusive access to the novel on a dedicated website, www.breetanner.com, from June 7 to July 5, 2010 where fans from around the world will be able to read the book online in English. “I’d always considered The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner as something for the fans,” said Meyer. “They have been so supportive of all things Twilight.”

“Fans have been waiting with bated breath for a new book from Stephenie,” said Megan Tingley, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. “We are doubly thrilled to be giving them the opportunity to read this exciting new work as well as contribute to an important cause at the same time.”
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is the riveting story of Bree Tanner, a newborn vampire first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the world she inhabits. The novella chronicles the newborn vampire army’s journey as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion.
The character Bree not only features prominently in the book Eclipse, but in the upcoming movie from Summit Entertainment. “Stephenie was gracious enough to let me read a draft of the novella while we were prepping the movie The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” said Director David Slade. “I thoroughly enjoyed the story and it gave us great insight and inspired location choices and the tailoring of scenes. I think fans are going to love the fascinating details involved in the loves, fears and actions of an emerging vampire.”
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner will also be available as an ebook beginning at 6:00 a.m. EST on June 5, 2010. Additionally, more information about the previously announced The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, including publication date, will be released by the end of the year.
In less than five years, Stephenie Meyer has become a worldwide publishing phenomenon. The Twilight Saga’s translation rights have been sold in nearly 50 countries and 100 million copies have been sold worldwide.
*Donations to the American Red Cross from the US sales of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner will continue until all first printing copies have been sold or at the end of a two-year period from the initial publication date, whichever is the first to occur.

Stephenie Meyer's New 'Twilight' Book Introduces a Surprising New Heroine

Julia Roberts in 'Eat Pray Love'
Well before "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" hits theaters on June 30, "Twilight" fans will be treated to a new glimpse into author Stephenie Meyer's vampire universe.
On June 5, the 36-year-old multimillionaire author will release "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner," a novella that takes place concurrently with the events in the third "Twilight" book, "Eclipse." Only this time, the bloody tale of revenge and romance will be told from the perspective of Bree, a "newborn" vampire recruited by antagonist Victoria (to be played by Bryce Dallas Howard in the upcoming film) to kill human heroine Bella Swan (played, of course, by Kristen Stewart).
If fans are confounded by the news that a minor character from the series is the star of the first "Twilight" book in two years, they're not the only ones. "It's a surprise...I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book," Meyer says on her website. "I began this story a long time ago-before Twilight was even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world.... I started writing from Bree's perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn."
The short story was originally slated for the upcoming tome The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, but when Meyer's publisher informed her it was far too lengthy for inclusion, they decided to release it as a separate book instead.
Anyone skeptical that the wildly successful vampire-genre author is just trying to bleed her fans for more money can rest easy-starting June 7 at noon and until July 5, the entire story will be available at www.breetanner.com for free. "You all have bought a ton of my books," Meyer noted on her site. "I wanted to give you this story as a gift."
The book will also be released in hardcover by Little, Brown on June 5. One dollar from the first 1.5 million copies sold in the U.S. will go to will go to the American Red Cross International Response Fund to help ease crises like those in Chile and Haiti.
WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW
Before Meyer decided to release "Bree Tanner" to the public, however, this short story was lent to "Eclipse" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg to help her understand how Victoria-the vampire set on making Bella and Edward pay for her lover's death-created her army of newborn vampires, and to provide details of the vampires' feeding frenzy in Seattle.
Readers of the novel may recall Bree's unique role in Eclipse-she was the only newborn vampire left alive after the Cullens (the good bloodsuckers) triumphed. But as the title indicates, Bree's second life didn't last very long. After being tortured by a member of the Volturi, Jane (played by Dakota Fanning in the film), Bree was destroyed for breaking the cardinal vampire rule: Don't reveal yourself recklessly to humans.

Ashley Greene & Jackson Rathbone Talk ‘Breaking Dawn’

Ashley Greene (aka Alice Cullen) and Jackson Rathbone (aka Jasper Hale) give their thoughts on Breaking Dawn.  Ashley spoke with MTV News at the premiere of her new film Skateland at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas and gives her take on Breaking Dawn being two films.  Jackson spoke with MTV News on the Orange carpet at the Kids’ Choice Awards and talks about the late Stanley Kubrick to direct Breaking Dawn and 3D.
Ashely: “I wouldn’t mind seeing it split up because the book is huge, and there’s so much that’s involved, and there’s so many different kinds of intertwining stories,” she told MTV News at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
“The problem with changing books into film is that you don’t have time to tell this intricate story that you do in 700 pages of a book,” she added. “I don’t think it could hurt.”
Jackson: “I think some films work in 3-D, and some films don’t,” he told MTV News on the orange carpet at the Kids’ Choice Awards over the weekend. “I don’t necessarily think it should be 3-D, but, hey, you know, it’s up for the production to decide.”

Eclipse’ Top Ten Quotes that Should be in the ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ Movie Script

The question on everyone’s minds when it pertains to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is how much of the book will be incorporated onto the big screen?  Well Gather has an awesome article with their choices for the Eclipse top ten quotes.
1. I believe that. But I want you to know something — when it comes to all this enemies nonsense, I’m out. I am a neutral country. I am Switzerland. I refuse to be affected by territorial disputes between mythical creatures. Jacob is family. You are… well, not exactly the love of my life, because I expect to love you for much longer than that. The love of my existence. I don’t care who’s a werewolf and who’s a vampire. If Angela turns out to be a witch, she can join the party, too.  Bella Swan, page 143.
2.It’s not like love at first sight, really. It’s more like… gravity moves. When you see her, suddenly it’s not the earth holding you here anymore. She does. And nothing matters more than her. And you would do anything for her, be anything for her… You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that’s a protector, or a lover, or a friend, or a brother. Jacob Black, page 176.
3.But I’ll never see anyone else, Bella. I only see you. Even when I close my eyes and try to see something else. Ask Quil or Embry. It drives them all crazy. Jacob Black, page 177.

4. I go a little berserk when I try to leave you. I don’t think I’ll go so far again. It’s not worth it. Edward Cullen, page 189.

5. You are the only one who has ever touched my heart. It will always be yours. Edward Cullen, page 195.
6. He sang me to sleep again and — aware even in unconsciousness that he was there — I slept free of nightmares. Bella Swan, page 208.
7.The way he stared at her! It was like a blind man seeing the sun for the first time. Like a collector finding an undiscovered Da Vinci, like a mother looking into the face of her newborn child. Bella Swan, page 242.

8.Besides… the more time I spend with you, the more human emotions seem comprehensible to me. I’m discovering that I can sympathize with Heathcliff in ways I didn’t think possible before. Edward Cullen, page 265.

9. You’ll always be my Bella, you’ll just be a little more durable. Edward Cullen, page 274.

10. I’m not that girl, Edward. The one who gets married right out of high school like some small-town hick who got knocked up by her boyfriend! Bella Swan, page 275.

Twilight’s TV Takeover!

Could “Eclipse” Actually Earn Less than “New Moon”?

The Twilight Saga: New Moon has shattered all kind of records, and pulled in astronomical amounts of cash at box offices around the world. And now with the recent release of the DVD, fans all over are gearing up for the third installment: Eclipse. With New Moon being such a success, will there be a three-peat with Eclipse?
Part of the reason “New Moon” grossed so much was that non-fans interested in the pop culture phenomenon and who hadn’t even seen “Twilight” hit the multiplex to check it out.  And yes, a lot of boyfriends were dragged along too.  Will those moviegoers be as eager to return for another go around?  Or, even taking the more lucrative summer season into effect, could “Eclipse” be blinded by a somewhat lower gross than “New Moon”?  One thing’s for sure, if “Eclipse’s” reviews are stronger than “New Moon’s” it shouldn’t be a problem.  If they are worse?  Watch out.
I hate to be the bearer of bad thoughts.  But I honestly think Eclipse is the gateway to all things Breaking Dawn.  I seriously think Summit is waiting to see how well Eclipse will do before we hear any BD news. It’s a bit late in the game, and they still don’t have a director? With 2 films and 2 DVD releases under Summit’s belt, and not to mention all of the Twilight memorabilia that is sold, why isn’t it enough?  If Eclipse tanks…we are all in some serious trouble.  At the end of the day it’s all about revenue $$$. What are your thoughts?

New ‘Eclipse’ Novella By Stephenie Meyer Coming June 5th! ‘The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner’

The Twilight Saga author, Stephenie Meyer, just announced on her website announcing a new novella she wrote about the newborn vampire, Bree, from Eclipse!  The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner will arrive in stores June 5th, 2010.  Bree is played by Jodelle Ferland in the upcoming film The Twilight Saga Eclipse
Surprise!
I have a new book coming out. It’s called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Well, it’s more of a novella than an actual book—my version of a short story.
Actually, this has been a surprise to me, too. The reason why it’s a surprise was that I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago—before Twilight was even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree’s perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn.
This story was something that I worked on off and on for a while, just for fun, in between the times I was writing or editing other Twilight novels. Later, when the concept for The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide came up, I thought that might be a good place for Bree. Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

At the same time, it came in handy for the Eclipse film. Melissa (Rosenberg, the screenwriter) had a ton of questions about what exactly was going on in Seattle, how Victoria managed things, what Riley was like, etc. I let her read what I had then, and later gave the whole thing to the director, David Slade. David asked if Xavier, Bryce, and Jodelle (Riley, Victoria, and Bree) could read it as well, so all the parties involved would end up having a really strong foundation for their characters before the cameras started rolling. I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.

(Keeping it confidential: Here is Jodelle next to the bucket of waterlogged ashes that were once the pages of her copy of the Bree manuscript.)
Then I got the news: my “short story” was nearly 200 pages long when typeset. It was too long to fit into the Guide—without ending up with a tome as heavy as the Oxford English Dictionary. My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.
There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com.
One other aspect of this release is the plan to give a more important gift to people who really need it. One dollar of each book purchased in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti and Chile and other parts of the world where people are in great need. We’re going to have an option online as well, so you can choose to make a donation if you want when you read the story online. I hope you will. I think that we can really help a lot of people with this.
I really hope you all enjoy this story. I had a blast writing it. I’m glad that after all this time cooling her heels in my files, Bree finally gets her chance to shine.
Thanks for all the support,
Steph

Brace yourself, Twilight fans. A new book from Stephenie Meyer is on the horizon. The Short Second…

Brace yourself, Twilight fans. A new book from Stephenie Meyer is on the horizon.
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella will be released at 12:01 a.m. June 5.
The 192-page story, an offshoot of the third novel in Meyer's best-selling teen vampire Twilight saga, has a first printing of 1.5 million. It's the first new Twilight title since Breaking Dawn, Book 4, was published two years ago.
The new novella is told in the voice of the teenage Bree, a "newborn vampire" whom we meet on page 569 in Eclipse. Ten pages later, she's dead.
"I started writing this a long time ago," Meyer said in an exclusive interview with USA TODAY. "It was when I was editing Eclipse. It was more of just an exercise so I could be clear about what was going on in the story."
The Twilight novels are told from the perspective of Bella, who falls in love with the vampire Edward Cullen.
"There's only so much stuff you can tell when what Bella sees and hears is all you can tell," Meyer says.
Bree is part of an army of newborn vampires created by Cullen family nemesis Victoria. Thirsty for revenge after the Cullens kill her vampire lover James, Victoria's plan is to use her army to kill the Cullens and Bella.
"The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is pretty much contained in the last week of the newborns' existence before the big fight (between the Cullens and the vampire army) in the meadow in Eclipse," Meyer says. "It's the last week before Bree dies."
In the novella, Meyer says, Bree has been a vampire for about three months. No other details are being released.
But some plot points from the novella have made their way into the Eclipse film, starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, which opens June 30. Meyer gave David Slade, the film's director, a draft to read during production. The character of Bree is played by Canadian actress Jodelle Ferland.
Fans have speculated that the next Twilight title would be Midnight Sun, the story of Twilight told in Edward Cullen's voice.
"I think they're all waiting for Midnight Sun," says Meyer, who put Sun on hold indefinitely in 2008 when a draft was posted on the Internet without her permission and went viral. "But I'm not writing about vampires right now."

New 'Twilight' book by Stephenie Meyer on the way

'The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner' by Stephenie Meyer
It's a great day in the Twilight universe. Stephenie Meyer has just announced a new Twilight book, a novella entitled The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella!
Stephenie Meyer announced the publication in a new blog on her website, revealing that the book was an exercise in character development of "Bree" while writing Eclipse and that the book will be available to online readers for free. Those that actually purchase the book, though, will be helping the American Red Cross as $1 from each sale will be donated to the organization.
The book, Meyer revealed, was a surprise even to her as it was initially intended for inclusion in The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide but was far too long (nearly 200 pages).
Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.
She posted a photograph of actress Jodelle Ferland (who portrays "Bree" in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse film, due this June) with ashes from the burning of her copy of the novella.
My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.

I think that we can really help a lot of people with this.
Meyer closed the blog entry by stating that she was "glad that after all this time cooling her heels in my files, Bree finally gets her chance to shine."
USA Today reports that the novella will be released on June 5th at 12:01 a.m., and 1.5 million copies will be printed to start. They also quoted Meyer to state that she is aware Twilight fans might be looking for Midnight Sun but that she's "not writing about vampires right now."

Quileute Nation opens 'Twilight' website, authentic merchandise store

The Quileute Nation has just announced the launch of their Twilight site, www.Twilight-Quileute.com as well as an authentic Quileute merchandising store located at www.Quileute-Store.com.
According to a recent press release, "The tribe partnered with a Native based organization to design and build the site," and the merchandise offered on the Quileute Nation's E-Commerce site is "hand crafted by Quileute artisans and features carved cedar wolf rattles & paddles; woven cedar baskets & hats; canned smoked Salmon from First Beach; 'Twilight' inspired handmade items like 'Jacob', 'Bella' and 'Edward' wool hats; wolf dream catchers and other delights."
Additionally, the store offers hand cut cedar paddle necklaces made by the tribal schoolchildren in their classes.
“Traveling across our great country and observing other Native tribes commercially marketing their wares in a successful and respectful manner, motivated us to explore the concept of promoting culturally appropriate 'authentic Quileute' items online,” states Chairwoman Counsell-Geyer. ‘ Though we began this exploration prior to the “Twilight” phenomenon, I am delighted for the artisans in the village who have a global audience interested in owning a part of authentic Quileute culture, and thrilled we can share our art with fans and collectors who are unable to visit La Push personally.”
...
“I think it is great that the Quileute now have this venue to communicate with the world their perspective on things and I know people will be very surprised by some of the information to be shared in the future!”, states Spokesperson, Jackie Jacobs.
“The Quileute welcome you to visit the new site”, states Jacobs. ‘Drop by and take advantage of the wonderful Quileute offerings, but you will want to visit often as the “authentic’ items are “one of a kind” and will be replaced with new treasures.”

Jackson Rathbone's devotion to 'Dread' revealed

Jackson Rathbone - AP Photo
If you thought this weekend's sliming was as gross as it gets for Jackson Rathbone and the lengths he'll go to promote his films, think again.
MTV just posted this video of Rathbone promoting his film Dread by eating . . . a . . . maggot.
Yes. Maggot.
This video is a supplement to one of MTV's other articles about the film - in which he discusses the relationship between Dread and Twilight - and it certainly puts this actor's devotion to his craft in perspective.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon' DVD extras continuing to unfold

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.
For the most part, the special features found on the various DVDs for The Twilight Saga: New Moon have been revealed and discussed. That is, for the United States' versions at least.
Internationally, though, features are continuing to unfold.
The French DVD of New Moon has an interview with Taylor Lautner where he talks about his portrayal of "Jacob Black" in the film.
In the interview, Lautner revealed that when there was some speculation as to whether he'd be asked back to reprise his role, he just paid attention to "the things [he] could control."
The Japanese special edition version of the DVD includes clips from that press conference in Tokyo, Japan Robert Pattinson and Chris Weitz attended to promote the film.
In both new features, the subtitles are written in the native language of the country where it came from, but it's still fairly easy to infer what the questions being asked of the talent were.

ROBERT PATTINSON TALKS CONFLICTED CHARACTERS AND WAX ABS TO GMTV

GMTV has a great interview with Robert Pattinson that they did for the premiere of Remember Me in London. In the interview Rob talks about his hardcore fans, his interest in “conflicted” characters, romantic comedies, his character in Remember Me, lessons he learned on fame from Pierce Brosnan, playing Edward in the different Twilight movies and his hope for a six-pack on his wax figure. Check out the interview below:

Rob always has such a charm about him in interviews, even if he’s nervous. It really seems that he still enjoys playing Edward too. I love that he hopes they gave his wax figure a six-pack, although weird he didn’t know about it! I guess I thought they ask people before they make a wax figure of them.

ECLIPSE SOUNDTRACK MISINFORMATION…CORRECTED

Over the weekend there was some confusing information reported by The San Diego News Network. In the story, it sounded like the band Maren Parusel might be a consideration for the Eclipse soundtrack because producer Kim Fowley (of The Runaways fame) had struck a deal for spots on the soundtrack. Unfortunately none of that was true. Below is a excerpt from the original article followed by an excerpt from the real story:
Kim Fowley, the Hollywood kingmaker (or perhaps queenmaker) who put the “gall” back in Svengali, may have discovered a new star: SanDiego’s own Maren Parusel. “Mario Escovedo, the local talent hound who happens to be the younger brother of Javier Escovedo of ’70s-vintage all-boy rock band The Zeros, reports that “legendary producer” Fowley was in Austin last week for South by Southwest “to promote the movie about how he discovered Joan Jett and The Runaways,” when he “met Maren Parusel unloading equipment in an alley.”
“Two days later she was recording with him in Los Angeles,” remaking her “Ordinary Day,” Escovedo e-mails. “I’m hearing nothing but good things about the movie,” he adds. “And because of the actress playing Joan Jett, Kim Fowley struck a deal to write some songs for Twilight three.”
You can find the story here, but it is now corrected due to the following article which TA has confirmed.

The next day, Kim and I met with the music supervisor of the Twilight franchise, who mentioned to Kim that there was possible interest in his providing atmospheric music that might be utilized on thesoundtrack of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Kim then introduced the executive to Geoff Martyn, a founding member of the UK band Travis. As Twilight fans know, the Travis album The Man Who, to which Martyn and his brother contributed, was an inspiration to Stephanie Meyer in the writing process of Twilight. I recorded a demo of Geoff and Kim’s compositions at the Sheraton, songs to be sent to the executive for consideration for the Eclipsesoundtrack. As I write this, Martyn is hard at work in Glasgow, Scotland, putting the finishing touches on the material.
On March 19th, Kim and I heard the song “My Heart’s on Fire” performed on Neches Street in Austin by the unsigned band Maren Parusel. Kim liked the San Diego-based band so much that he offered to do a Test Recording the following Tuesday in Hollywood.
Read the full true story here.
I don’t even understand how these rumors get so wildly out of control! What TA has confirmed is that Kristen had nothing to do with any of this and Maren Parusel is not theband in question. Kim Fowley is working with musician Geoff Martyn (of Travis fame) in the hopes of landing a spot on the Eclipse soundtrack.

New Stephenie Meyer Novella – The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

This is so cool!!!!
LITTLE, BROWN BOOKS FOR YOUNG READERS TO RELEASE
NEW NOVELLA FROM INTERNATIONAL PHENOMENON
STEPHENIE MEYER ON SATURDAY, JUNE 5, 2010
THE SHORT SECOND LIFE OF BREE TANNER:
AN ECLIPSE NOVELLA

NEW YORK, NY (March 30, 2010) – Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of
Hachette Book Group, has announced today that it will release the first new title from Stephenie
Meyer in nearly two years. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is a novella told from the point
of view of Bree, a character originally featured in Eclipse. The novella (at 192 pages) will be
released at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in hardcover for $13.99 with a first printing of
1.5 million copies. One dollar for each book sold in the US from the first printing will be donated
to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which supports disaster relief efforts
such as those in Haiti and Chile.*

“I’m as surprised as anyone about this novella,” said Stephenie Meyer. “When I began working
on it in 2005, it was simply an exercise to help me examine the other side of Eclipse, which I
was editing at the time. I thought it might end up as a short story that I could include on my
website. Then, when work started on The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, I thought the Guide
would be a good fit for my Bree story. However, the story grew longer than I anticipated, until it
was too long to fit into the Guide.”
As a special thank you to fans, Meyer is giving them exclusive access to the novel on a
dedicated website, www.breetanner.com, from June 7 to July 5, 2010 where fans from around
the world will be able to read the book online in English. “I’d always considered The Short
Second Life of Bree Tanner as something for the fans,” said Meyer. “They have been so
supportive of all things Twilight.”

Visitors to the dedicated site will also find a link to the American Red Cross website
(www.redcross.org), where they can make a donation and learn more about their relief efforts
worldwide. “I have been moved by the generous outpouring of support for the recent crises in
Haiti and Chile,” said Meyer. “I am glad that sales of this book will support the American Red
Cross with their amazing efforts abroad.”
“Fans have been waiting with bated breath for a new book from Stephenie,” said Megan
Tingley, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. “We are
doubly thrilled to be giving them the opportunity to read this exciting new work as well as
contribute to an important cause at the same time.”

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is the riveting story of Bree Tanner, a newborn vampire
first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the world she inhabits. The novella chronicles
the newborn vampire army’s journey as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens,
following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion.

The character Bree not only features prominently in the book Eclipse, but in the upcoming
movie from Summit Entertainment. “Stephenie was gracious enough to let me read a draft of the
novella while we were prepping the movie The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” said Director David
Slade. “I thoroughly enjoyed the story and it gave us great insight and inspired location choices
and the tailoring of scenes. I think fans are going to love the fascinating details involved in the
loves, fears and actions of an emerging vampire.”

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner will also be available as an ebook beginning at 6:00 a.m.
EST on June 5, 2010. Additionally, more information about the previously announced The
Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, including publication date, will be released by the end of the
year.

In less than five years, Stephenie Meyer has become a worldwide publishing phenomenon. The
Twilight Saga’s translation rights have been sold in nearly 50 countries and 100 million copies
have been sold worldwide.

*Donations to the American Red Cross from the US sales of The Short Second Life of Bree
Tanner will continue until all first printing copies have been sold or at the end of a two-year
period from the initial publication date, whichever is the first to occur.
The American Red Cross name is used with its permission, which in no way constitutes an
endorsement, express or implied, of any product, service, company, opinion or political position.
