Rob explains why he would never be Jacob’s friend & more about the sex scenes

Carter Burwell on Twilight, Breaking Dawn & his Inspiration

It was like a scene out of a movie. Film score composer Carter Burwellwrote the final cue to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part I) at his piano in the country by the flickering light of an oil lamp.
“I was out at my place in Amagansett trying to finish up the score when Hurricane Irene hit and took out my power,” Burwell describes. “And it stayed out for four days. So I ended up writing the ending in this darkened, boarded up house.
“It was interesting and painful at the same time,” he says, with a laugh. “But it worked out.”
Being forced to compose the old-fashioned way is not as extreme an exercise for Burwell as it might be for another composer; he does write most of his themes at the piano. And the storm made a perfectly dark and romantic setting in which to conjure the final scene’s music, where Burwell reprises the soaring “Bella’s Lullaby” theme from the first Twilight, with liturgical sounds. Without spoiling the ending, it’s a heavy, most climactic scene.
Looking over your filmography, it seems like you haven’t scored a sequel before. You did the first Twilight but not the second and third. Can you tell me about how you came to doBreaking Dawn, the fourth of the Twilight films?
It’s true, I’ve never scored a sequel. But it’s pretty simple – I’ve worked with this director – Bill Condon – before [on Kinsey]. Bill wanted me to do the scores, but he wasn’t sure I would want to because they’re such huge melodramas, and that’s really very different than what I normally do. But he is entirely a pleasure to work with so I definitely wanted to do it.
When I was composing music for the first Twilight, I don’t think any of us knew that it would be thatpopular… that it would have this cultural resonance. There was such an enormous response. There have been thousands of emails people have written me, wanting to know how to play the themes on piano. And that has been really nice.
Oh that’s really cool – the fans genuinely engaging with the film’s score. Wow. So, in scoring this latest film, did you reprise any of those themes from the first? How did you continue that work you’d done on the first one, or did you not approach it like that at all?
Well, I did to some extent. The intervening two films were directed by different people and composed by different people and they didn’t use any of the musical themes from the first one.
But there’s this one love theme called “Bella’s Lullaby” that was on the Twilight soundtrack album and that’s the one that most people respond to from the first movie. And when I first talked to Bill Condon, he was excited to bring back “Bella’s Lullaby” – so we have brought it back, judiciously. There’s a hint of it here and there, and then in the last scene of this movie, we actually play it out. And it’s pretty dramatic.

Rob, Kristen, Taylor and Cast Interview with Startalk (Philippines)

Robert Pattinson’s Interview with Philippine Daily Inquirer

Breaking into his impish grin, Robert said about an actor in a much-anticipated scene in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” “I thought he was a real priest in the scene when we were getting married. He kept forgetting what our characters’ names were. He called us Robert and Kristen. She told me that he wasn’t a real priest.”
Asked how many beds were used in his bed-shaking sex scene with Kristen, Robert laughed and replied, “It was just one bed but it was a trick bed. It was unusual to do a sex scene when there’s a whole stunt set-up. There were three guys behind the bed who controlled the bed. I’m trying to do a sex scene and a guy is cueing me for when the bed breaks. I’m also looking at the big guy lying underneath, on the floor.”
He explained, “When you’re doing a sex scene, people don’t really give you that much pressure on the set because for one thing, a director doesn’t want to step in and suggest how he would do it (laughing). Because it’s probably uncomfortable for him, too.”
“I was protective of Kristen,” he admitted about filming the scene. “She is so much more comfortable with her body than I am. I was thinking, we must keep the sheet up in between takes. But that was really more for her. That was probably the scariest part – having to be judged by your physicality. I was trying to avoid that in the entire series.”
Robert did workouts to be in shape for the shirtless scenes. “Yeah, for a while,” he said. With a chuckle, he quipped,“But as soon as I didn’t have to take my shirt off, I stopped.”

Carolina Herrera Talks About the Inspiration for Bella’s Wedding Gown

…Even Mrs. Herrera, brought on by the “Twilight” author, Stephenie Meyer, hasn’t revealed so much as a silhouette or a neckline. Mrs. Meyer’s 2008 book, “Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4),” offers only quick glimpses of the dress, like “a long line of pearl buttons” up the back.
“I wanted the dress to have a period feel without being actually vintage,” Mrs. Meyer, who collaborated with Ms. Herrera, said in an e-mail [to the NYT].
Mrs. Herrera, whose gowns typically begin at $4,000, was equally cryptic in an e-mail:“Of course, I was inspired by Stephenie’s description of the gown in the book,” she wrote. “I also took into consideration the personality and the style of the bride.”
After being sent repeated e-mails asking for an image of the dress, Eric Kops, Summit’s senior vice president for publicity, responded: “We are saving the reveal of the dress as a surprise for the fans when they see the film. Therefore, we aren’t planning to release any images showing the dress until after the film in theatres.”

Robert Pattinson Talks with The Herald Sun “Kristen Really Connected to This Film”

The guitar-playing actor reveals that the harrowing childbirth scenes were tough to watch, given that Bella was writhing in pain and covered in blood for most of the scenes.
He not only found the on-set experience intense but also had some trouble coming to terms with his place in the movie.
“Kristen really connected to this film – she thought that it was Bella’s journey and that it was really important. But when I first read the script, I was so frustrated because what is Edward supposed to do, when he’s on the sidelines, worrying?” muses the Londoner.
“By the time I was called on to the set, Kristen had gone so far beating herself up that I was terrified – and I hadn’t been terrified since the first movie.
“We shot the childbirth scenes as continuous sequence, from when she goes into labour to the birth, so we really had to commit to what we were doing.
“By then, Edward’s really beaten down and has to give up his ego.
“It’s only in part 2 that Edward rebuilds himself again and I admire him for that.”
The 25-year-old heartthrob says it was emotionally challenging to act around all the special effects that show Bella’s emaciated body giving birth to baby Renesmee.
“Kristen’s head was attached to a dummy body which had gore all over it, and she was wearing a torn hospital gown. It looked unbelievably bad. It was more like a Saw movie than a Twilight movie.
“And the dummy was so realistic I was shocked when I first walked on set – to see anyone you know look like that is just horrible.”
Did he try on Bella’s fake pregnancy belly?
“I wanted to but they wouldn’t let me,” he laughs.
Hype around the movie has been growing ever since the producers released photographs of the much anticipated Edward/Bella wedding.
Pattinson remembers the day they said their “I do’s” with some amusement, mostly because as the groom no one was interested in his outfit.
“We had all these paparazzi helicopters above and no one asked me to hide as it was all about the dress,” he recalls in wonderment.
“I was standing there in the wide open wearing a tuxedo and Kristen was shrouded in secrecy with this dress on.”

Fandango’s Interview with Rob, Kristen and Taylor for Breaking Dawn

Here is part of the interview with Kristen, Rob and Taylor. To read more, please visit Fandango!

Q: Kristen, did any of Bella’s qualities stick with you after portraying her for so many years?
Kristen Stewart: Not really, only because I’m pretty wrapped up in her. I’ve always felt that you really project yourself onto a character. If you’re the type of girl to identify with Bella, then you just kind of are her. I genuinely had to justify every decision she made the whole way through. Sometimes your character in films would do things you wouldn’t do. You’re not playing yourself all the time, but somehow, I could not disagree with her, ever.

Q: Robert, how has your Twilight experience affected you?
Robert Pattinson: It presented a whole variety of obstacles in terms of how you grow and figure out who you want to be. It’s like a very complicated maze. I didn’t even know if I was going to continue acting before this happened, and now, I have much more of a drive and passion for it than I ever did before.

Q: Kristen, what do Taylor and Rob bring to the experience?
Stewart: I can’t imagine what this movie would’ve been if I didn’t have really, really solid – and always growing – relationships with them… When you work with people like that, you can give so much, you’re so comfortable, you can do no wrong. We got along and so it shows.

Q: Taylor, can you understand why Jacob would not just let Bella go?
Taylor Lautner: I go back and forth with Jacob’s persistence. Most of the time, yeah, I can understand it, because there’ve been things in my life that I have wanted so much and when you’re told no, you just gotta go for it. If you’re told no, and you say oh ok, and you give up, I wouldn’t be sitting here today. If you believe in something, if you love something, you gotta go for it no matter what. So most of the time, I could relate.

The Insider Interviews Rob, Kristen, and Taylor

Jake the Movie Guy talks with Kristen, Taylor and Rob

Taylor Lautner’s Breaking Dawn interview with Teen Hollywood

Check out the interview of Taylor and read more at Teen Hollywood.
Team Jacob will be stoked to see their hero take charge of his own wolf pack, become a man and re-gear his attention and affections to Bella’s extraordinary daughter in the Breaking Dawn segment of the film series.
TeenHollywood: Jacob has a very emotional group of transitions in this film. He’s more mature.  How did you approach that as an actor?
Taylor:  Yeah, I was really excited about this one, because Jacob becomes a man in this one and he has to make a lot of decisions. He’s being torn between his two families. It was really tough. It was by far the most challenging one for me, but I didn’t know what to think going into it. As soon as the three of us sat down with Bill (Condon, director), we just dove right into it and we talked about the characters and I really can say that I couldn’t have done it without Bill’s help. He was absolutely amazing in talking to us all the time and I trusted him completely.
TeenHollywood: How do you feel about your performance now that you’ve seen it?
Taylor: It was really special and now seeing the movie, I’m really happy. Jacob starts here and he ends here (going from one hand to the other, showing growth), and it’s just very exciting to see him in a completely different light than ever before.
TeenHollywood: Jacob imprints on Bella’s daughter Renesmee who is a baby. How weird was that scene for you?
Taylor: Oh, you had to go there. That was tough because what is imprinting? What do you look like when you imprint? Those were all the questions going through my head. Luckily we had Stephenie on set the entire time, and trust me, I asked her a million times, ‘Okay, explain to me one more time what imprinting is exactly. And did you ever envision what Jacob would look like? What is he doing when he’s imprinting?’ It was very, very confusing. So there was a lot of conversation about that.
And then it didn’t help that, when we filmed it, they put an X on a wall and said, ‘This is Renesmee, you’re going to walk in the room, you’re going to look at the X and you’re going to imprint.’ And I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ It was tough, it really was, but now after seeing the final version I’m really happy with it. It’s emotional. They did a really good job with bringing back cool flashbacks and tying it in in a way so it works, so it really is a very special moment, but on the day, it was a leap of faith.
TeenHollywood: Were you at all bummed that after going after Bella all this time Edward gets a hot vampire bride and you get a baby.
Taylor: Yeah, I’ve gotten over that by now, but I remember the first time reading the book when it came out and I’m like, ‘Alright, what’s going to happen? Is Edward gonna end up with Bella? Is Jacob gonna end up with Bella?’ I was so confused, I was like, ‘Wait, he’s trying to get Bella the whole time and he strikes out so goes with her child?’ You have to tread lightly, because it’s a very special thing and it’s not romantic at all, so we definitely had to film it in a certain way and I think Bill did an incredible job with that.
TeenHollywood: Now that you’ve finished playing Jacob, is there any part of the character that will stick with you?
Taylor: Yeah, absolutely. I mean, after playing the same character for five movies and for years you grow so close to him and you start putting yourself into Jacob and you start putting Jacob into you. I love Jacob. There’s many things that I look up to Jacob for. Jacob’s one of the most loyal people, one of the most persistent people. He has amazing qualities to him that I hope I can learn from him and implement into my own life, which is kind of cool.
TeenHollywood: The music is so important to these films. What’s on your iPod? Any particular tracks on your playlist right now?
Taylor: I am so all over the place with my music taste it’s ridiculous. I find myself listening to weird things like hardcore techno music and then I’ll be listening to mainstream hip-hop. I’ll listen to a song, I’ll become obsessed with it, and then I’m on to the next one, so it’s just very inconsistent.
TeenHollywood: Can you understand why Jacob will just not let go of Bella? Some guys would just be like, ‘Okay, fine, you’re married now.’ And also, could you talk about your very last scene that you ever filmed as Jacob?
Taylor: Yeah, I go back and forth with Jacob’s persistence.  I mean, most of the time, I can understand it, because there’s been things in my life that I have wanted so much and when you’re told ‘no’ you’ve gotta to keep going, you’ve gotta go for it, because if you just say, ‘Oh, okay,’ and you give up [you don’t get anywhere]. I wouldn’t be sitting here today. It requires a lot of hard work and a lot of persistence. If you believe in something, if you love something you’ve gotta go for it no matter what. So most of the time I could relate, but yeah, there’s moments where I’m just like, ‘Dude, you’ve got to get over it. She’s married now. She’s on her honeymoon, it’s about time to move on.’ So yeah, there are a few of those moments.
I knew filming the last scene was going to be tough but it was actually more emotional for all of us than we expected and it didn’t help that my very last scene was with Kristen and Rob comes in at the end and breaks it up, but it’s really the last dance between Bella and Jacob towards the end of their wedding. And it’s really Jacob saying goodbye to Bella. She’s off to her honeymoon and he’s kind of realizing that it’s over, everything I’ve been working for is over, and it’s really time for him to move on and realize that.
So it’s an emotional scene and we’re like saying goodbye to each other pretty much, and that was the very last scene we filmed together. So it didn’t help the situation, and I remember when we finished and Kris and I just looked at each other, and I don’t think we really had anything to say because the emotion from the scene was overwhelming us, and then the emotion of the situation on top of that, it was tough, but it was a very special moment and now, when I watch that scene, I have a lot of great memories.
TeenHollywood: What are you doing next? Are you working with director Gus Van Sant on a project based on a magazine article? Also, are you going to try to find something very different from the Jacob role?
Taylor: No, it’s definitely not a matter of just finding something that keeps your face out there. I want everything to feel special to me, and I’m very specific about that. But, it would almost be a compliment to be typecast, because that’s our jobs. Our jobs are to make the fans believe that we are these characters. That’s the goal with these fans but, at the same time, of course as actors, we want to be able to go off and do different things and challenge ourselves with many different roles.
Next, I don’t know to be honest. I’ve been promoting two back-to-back movies, and now I’ll have a little break which I’m excited for. It will give me time to catch up on sleep a little bit and also start to think what will be next. Gus Van Sant is a very talented director who I’ve always looked up to and I’ve always wanted to work with. It’s very premature, so I really don’t have much to say now, other than the fact that I really, really respect him and would love the opportunity to work with him.

Taylor Lautner teams with Gus Van Sant for new indie film

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Taylor Lautner and Gus Van Sant (Milk, Good Will Hunting) are teaming up for an independent film. The details of the film have not yet been revealed, but the story is based on a The New Yorker article that Taylor and his production company have optioned for film. A wirter has not yet been announced, but Lautner and Van Sant were seen having dinner with Academy Award winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (Milk).
Get ready for Taylor Lautner, independent film star.
The Twilight actor, fresh from the disappointing performance of September’s action thriller Abduction, is about to move into arthouse territory. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Lautner is finalizing a deal to team with auteur director Gus Van Sant (Milk, Drugstore Cowboy) on a small-budget film based on a nonfiction article in The New Yorker magazine that Lautner has optioned.
[...]
The new project would almost certainly take Lautner’s career in a new direction. He is said to be determined to work only with top directors and writers from now on as he strives to define himself as an actor.
Lautner also will produce the project via Quick Six, the production shingle he runs with father Dan Lautner.
