Will Lee Pace be cast in Breaking Dawn?

In news so great I don’t even want to get my hopes up about it, rumors are afloat, thanks to E! Online, that Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) is up for the role of Garrett in Breaking Dawn. Sorry to be so dramatic, but I just LOVE him to death. Pushing Daisies was excellent. And if you are worried he can’t take on action, check out The Fall.
Pace, perhaps best known from the before-its-time show Pushing Daisies, is up for the role of Garrett, a friend of Edward’s (that would be Robert Pattinson, just in case you forgot).
The character is described in the script as a tall, nomadic vampire with sandy hair that he keeps tied back with a leather thong. Garrett is also penned as being down-to-earth, laid-back, rugged and having a lightness and element of humor about him.
“Lee is the top person in the running to play Garrett in Breaking Dawn,” a source tells E! News.
As we all know, Bill Condon is directing both Breaking Dawn films, and according to our insider, is “hoping to take it in a more artsy direction.”

Twilight' star Edi Gathegi gets a new fantasy franchise role in 'X-Men: First Class'

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' - Summit Ent.
Edi Gathegi, who portrayed "Laurent" in Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon, has just gotten himself a new fantasy franchise role in X-Men: First Class, according to Deadline Hollywood.
According to that site's announcement, Edi Gathegi has been cast as "Darwin" who "has the power of 'reactive evolution,' which allows him to adapt to any situation or environment."
For instance, "Plunged underwater, he'll grow gills, he'll gain night vision in pitch black and his skin grows fire retardant when burned."
Sounds interesting, right?
Gathegi's New Moon co-star Daniel Cudmore is an X-Men veteran, having portrayed "Colossus" in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, and Taylor Lautner was also offered a part for the film but turned it down to appear in Abduction

Behind The Scenes Of Metric’s Eclipse (All Yours) Music Video From The Eclipse Soundtrack

Here’s the behind the scenes look of making Metric’s Eclipse (All Yours) music video!
When Metric’s Emily Haines was approached by award-winning composer Howard Shore about writing a track for ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ soundtrack, it was clear that the band was presented with an opportunity to reach an epic new audience. Haines, Shore and guitarist Jimmy Shaw soon got to co-writing the song, ‘Eclipse (All Yours),’ with a certain focus in mind.
“[Shore] was like, ‘What I’m attracted to is Metric, but it’s not about it representing Metric,” the frontwoman says in the following clip. “It’s about you embodying the voice of Bella.”
The behind-the-scenes footage, directed by Luke Wooden, captures the scenic shots of the rustic North Vancouver location in which the song’s video was filmed.
“Kristen Stewart is a really good actress and I feel like Bella’s a really important character for young women,” Haines previously told Spinner. “She’s not a stupid girl. It’s one of the most insightful portraits that I’ve ever seen of what it really is like to be a young woman and deal with the kaleidoscope of emotions that you go through on a daily basis.”
Watch the exclusive video below to get a peek at what it was like to translate the feeling of ‘Eclipse’ into a music video.
Watch the music video again for All Yours after the break!

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' hits Smithsonian in IMAX

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Kimberley French/Summit Ent.
The IMAX Experience of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse may be complete for most venues, but for the Smithsonian, it has only just begun.
Starting today (July 27th), Smithsonian IMAX is showing The Twilight Saga: Eclipse for a limited run until August 4th. More information is available here.
Eclipse's opening in IMAX theaters brought in about $1 million in midnight screening numbers alone, according to The Numbers, and this was record-breaking from prior totals set by Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen ($900,000).
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse debuted in IMAX theaters on June 30th and ran until the middle of July.
The Smithsonian's showings of Eclipse will all take place at the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater in Washington, D.C., and tickets for the showings run around $15.00 each. Only nine screenings are scheduled, and they'll each take place at 7:30 p.m. EST, so if you want to see Eclipse in IMAX one last time and you happen to be in the D.C. area, here's your chance!
Tickets for the Eclipse screenings can be found at this link.

Michael Sheen reveals 'Tron: Legacy' character details at Comic-Con

Michael Sheen - Getty Images
If you wanted to learn a little bit more about Michael Sheen's boisterous character in Tron: Legacy, HitFix has gotten all the details you'll need.
While at Comic-Con promoting the movie, Michael Sheen revealed to HitFix that doing Tron: Legacy satisfies the little kid in him - much in the same way that doing The Twilight Saga: New Moon (he portrayed "Aro") appealed to his daughter, Lily.
"I'm kind of keeping my eleven year old self happy by doing this film, I think," he explained.
He went on to describe his character, saying "I'm someone who has his finger in a lot of pies, and people come to me when they want information about things - you know, whether you should trust me or not . . ."
His take on the nightclub owner persona came from a variety of different sources, he explained. "It was a kind of mixture of things . . . I'm a program. So, I'm kind of a personification of a program, so I like the idea the program that I am is a kind of adaptation program . . . sort of everything that comes along, he kind of takes in and then he's able to replicate, so he's sort of like a chameleon. So, I wanted a character that had little elements . . . there's a little bit of Bowie in there . . . there's a little bit of Mae West, there's a little bit of this and that . . . there's a whole mixture of stuff, really." "It's paid showing off," he summarized.

Twilight' inspiring more baby names than just Bella and Jacob

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Kimberley French/Summit Ent.
It's been noted for a while that the name Bella topped pet name charts for 2009 and that it also joined Jacob atop the list of 2009's most popular baby names, but the Chicago Tribune has revealed that the Twilight series' impact on baby names extends much further than previously thought.
According to their report, 17 girls were named Renesmee in 2009 alone. [*Spoiler warning*] Renesmee, of course, is the name of Bella and Edward's baby in Breaking Dawn, and in the book it originates from both of the characters' mothers (Renee and Esme), so it is completely original to the story. Renesmee's middle name, Carlie, comes from Carlisle and Charlie, the characters' fathers.
"Carlisle, a name chosen for precisely zero U.S. boys in 2005," was given to twelve boys in 2009, the Chicago Tribune reports.
A few further statistics were revealed by the report, including the following numbers:
  • 2005: 'Twilight' is published
(Jacob and Emily are the top U.S. names)
    1,657 babies are named Bella
    751 babies are named Alice
    450 babies are named Jasper
    380 babies are named Emmett
    278 babies are named Cullen
  • 2009: The 'Twilight' movie, 'New Moon,' is released
(Jacob and Isabella are the top U.S. names)
4,490 baby girls are named Bella
    1,251 girls are named Alice
    947 boys are named Emmett
    928 boys are named Jasper
    555 boys are named Cullen
As the Tribune notes, "It's difficult to pinpoint the precise degree of 'Twilight's' influence on the more than 4 million baby names chosen annually in the U.S., in part because [author Stephenie] Meyer chose names for her characters that were either already high on the hot list (Jacob), rising (Bella, Alice, Jasper, Emmett) or related to those that were," but still, looking at the raw data offered for the years 2005 and 2009, it seems there must be some significant correlation.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn' potential casting rumor revealed

'Breaking Dawn' by Stephenie Meyer - Little, Brown Books
First of all, several cast members from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 have been revealed, but announcements have been limited to those actors and actresses who are returning from Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
So, no new castmembers from the film have been announced just yet.
However, a rumored potential addition to the cast has been unveiled by E! Online, and while the site admits that no official decision has been made on the subject just yet, it is interesting to see who's in the rumor mill for one of my favorite new Breaking Dawn characters.
According to E! Online, Lee Pace is in contention for the role of "Garrett." This is not confirmed, of course, but we have seen early speculation reports turn into reality along the way of these films being made (with Xavier Samuel, Bronson Pelletier, etc.), so it's not entirely impossible either (still, note that it isn't an official casting announcement until Summit Entertainment confirms that sort of information).
As you know, "Garrett" is one of the nomad vampires that joins the "Cullen" coven's side for the "Volturi" showdown, and his character is one that brings a little light-heartedness to an otherwise heavy situation.
Over a year ago, the idea of Ryan Reynolds picking up the post was discussed, and since then, a few other casting ideas have been thrown around.
Attending the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in Los Angeles were a few other potentials, one might suggest. Celebrities like Ethan Embry and Tia and Tamara Mowry walked the red carpet for the premiere, and they could easily be considered in contention for some of the spots (Embry for "Garrett" or the Mowry sisters for "Zafrina" and "Senna," perhaps). There's always Jennifer Love Hewitt, too, for a part like "Irina."
At any rate, Lee Pace is an actor best known for his work in Pushing Daisies, The Good Shepard, and A Single Man. You can find out more about him here.

'Twilight,' 'New Moon,' and 'Eclipse' side-by-side offered by Box Office Mojo

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
To help streamline comparisons that Twilight fans have been doing over box office numbers for Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Box Office Mojo has put together a "Twilight Tiff" feature that compares the three films' intakes and other stats side-by-side.
According to that feature, Eclipse surpassed Twilight's intake long ago and edges ever nearer to The Twilight Saga: New Moon's worldwide gross each day.
New Moon's worldwide gross comes to $709,711,008, while Eclipse has brought in $606,227,262.
Both Twilight and New Moon didn't officially close up at the box office until April of the year following their November releases, so with Eclipse's international releases yet to come, it'll be a while until the film is no longer in theaters and produces a final total.
One cool tidbit of information offered by the site's feature is the side-by-side on certain rankings, including genre standings and other figures. By and large, New Moon has out-powered Eclipse in a lot of these rankings, but falls in second place overall in a great number of these categories.
One can speculate about reasons why New Moon performed slightly better than Eclipse in these various instances, but overall, the stability of the franchise is what comes off as most readily observable from the charts. Even if New Moon was number one in the "Vampire Genre" or "Single Day Gross" categories, the fact that Eclipse falls in at number two is quite impressive.

Twilight' star Alex Meraz speaks out for wolf protection and Defenders of Wildlife

Alex Meraz - AP Photo
Yesterday, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Alex Meraz ("Paul") tweeted a video of himself and co-star Booboo Stewart ("Seth Clearwater") on the BBC giving instructions as to how to become a part of the wolfpack, and now he's in a new public service announcement video promoting the protection of wolves in the Pacific Northwest.
"Wolves in Washington state may seem like pure fantasy, but these amazing animals used to run wild across the Olympic Penninsula where the Twilight Saga takes place. Wolves were honored by the Quileute tribe at La Push and thrived for thousands of year throughout the United States, but growing human populations have nearly wiped wolves off the landscape. America's wild wolves are still being shot, poisoned, and trapped by people," he explained, promoting the efforts of Defenders of Wildlife.

The organization has posted an opportunity for Alex Meraz's fans to donate and buy a wolf t-shirt on their site. They've also added crucial information about the ecology of wolves to the site as well, and you can check out their full listing here.

RPattz Bares Fangs At Paparazzi!

Don't they know he's a bloodthirsty monster!
Since taking the role of Edward in Twilight, Robert Pattinson has been hounded by the press like a pack of werewolves. This weekend in Hollywood, he could take it no more, and totally got all up in their grills!
Telling the paparazzi that they already had hundreds of photographs of him, he demanded to know if they were going to follow him all day, and complained he couldn't drive with FIVE cars following him! Can't blame him for getting mad (though we do love as many RPattz pics as possible!).
It's true, it must be seriously tough getting followed like that. But if it's gonna get him this all hot and bothered.
